Got a used range rental for $120

Post image

Local range swapped out their rental guns and had this on the used rack for $120.

Couldn't get my wallet out fast enough.

Need to shoot it and see how bad the barrel may be, but I'm not sure how many people go to a range to rent a .22 so it may not be too bad. Got a nice Hogue overmold stock that's just been sitting that I'll probably put it in.

Many Firsts

First, rifle (personally owned), scope mounting, zeroing, and have many questions.

Mounting the scope seemed to go fine. Though setting the eye relief has it looking too far back ?

Zeroing at 50 yards, the elevation has bottomed out and am still hitting ~ 0.75 - 1 in. above crosshairs / aim point. Grouping is less than an inch.

Only had it at the range twice, 100 rds each time and the fwd disassembly screw has come loose each time. Is this able to be fixed with Blue Loctite, or not on this screw ? Does the rear disassembly hdwr need to be adjusted?

Of the 200 rds put through it, ~ 8 failed to load properly. The bolt just didn't slide all the way forward, but was very easy pushing the rest of the way, even springing forward after just touching the charging handle. Is this a break in thing or the type of ammo being used ? (CCi Varmint HP, it's what the range had)

Ruger model: 31227.

60th anniversary edition with some slight modifications

I added a Volquartsen HP Plus action kit, Volquartsen Charging handle, Tech Sights rear aperture sight, Magpul MS1 sling and a temporary Vortex Defender ST. This is going to stay as an iron sight only 10/22, the Vortex is going on my lightweight build when the parts arrive.

Finish is done and she's all buttoned up. I ended up going with the Summit Precision barrel on this one because it just looked so damn good. And different.

Hollow point vs round nose Minimag

I’ve found so far that 36 grain HP minimag is laser accurate for my 10/22 much more so than stingers (which I just happen to have a boatload of). Which is “more accurate” HP vs RN? I’ve only shot HP and it’s a LASER at 100yards. The stingers are more all over the place.

Also what are some other good ammos for target shooting at 100yards +?

Has anyone used Ballistic Advantage 10/22 fluted barrels?

I haven't seen anyone post a build with one yet that I can find and there are very few videos of them being used. I managed to get this 16.1" spiral flute barrel for $113 shipped.

New 10/22 and some upgrades

Bought this lil guy a couple weeks ago, got a chance to shoot it last weekend and it’s sweet. Just a cheapie build, nothing amazing but I like it as a toy.

FAB Defense folding stock, CVlife green dot, a little cleaning and polishing in the receiver, a hammer from Power Custom. Eventually I will chop off 2” from the barrel and buy a 25 round mag.

I will probably print a little extender for the butt pad since I’m pretty tall and I was hoping the stock was a little longer but it’s only about half an inch longer.

The hammer and chassis went on tonight so I haven’t been able to mess around with it yet. Did a couple test dry fires and it is QUITE a bit lighter and smoother.

Cycling issues on a new 10/22. What could it be?

Forgive my ignorance. I don’t know much about the 10/22 and there may be something super obvious I am missing.

Picked up a 10/22 with the Samson BTM stock yesterday. Was super excited to get it to the range this morning and imagine my disappointment when the thing ran like absolute shit.

Was shooting both with the 25rd mag and the 10rd mag and had the same issue with both.

The bolt isn’t going all the way back and resetting the trigger. In general I could only get 1-2 shots out before I had to pull the bolt back to reset the trigger. The most I ever got out of it was 8 shots in a row.

Thought maybe it could’ve been the ammo. Shooting Remington Golden Bullet and CCI Mini Mag. But my dad’s 10/22 was shooting the stuff just fine.

The bolt doesn’t feel like it’s binding or anything except for that spot about halfway back where I think it’s meeting the hammer.

Anybody have any ideas or is this just a case of needing to send it back to Ruger?

Update: thank you everybody for the responses! I think I fixed it. I took the trigger group apart and reassembled it and the trigger is no longer sticking. Here’s hoping that’s the only issue!

10/22 Charger

SO I FINALLY got the Charger, I had posted a while back with my AR 10/22 and wanted opinions on a charger set up vs a full length Dessert Tec, and this is my charger I just got today, and what I’m thinking I might stick with for a while … might do a J A G E R set up for the Charger and keep my 10/22 the way it is. (Everything on the charger is pretty much left over from all my other builds)

Ruger 10/22 model 01295 - Does anyone have experience with this model?

I have the opportunity to buy the model 01295 but I can find no info on it other than it was made in 2015 and is out of production.

Is it reliable? Was it discontinued because it was poorly made? Anything would help!

thank you

Request for critique/advice for first build.

Hello. I am planning my first (and hopefully only) 1022 build. Don't know much so am not very confident in some choices.

Stuff I'm pretty sure on:
Barrel: Vanquish 22 silver
Stock: Samson B-TM bull barrel stainless
Trigger: Kidd silver single stage Bolt: Kidd scalloped silver

Not sure:
Receiver: tactical innovations elite 22 lr (I am right handed but it seems like it would be nicer to charge on the left?)

Scope: Sig Romeo8T AMR, Juliet3T (Is this stupid? it looks neat but i have no idea if it would pair well or fit on the rail or be appropriate)"

What else do I need? No idea how to add or if I even want options like last round hold open or ability to dry fire.

thank you

I’m looking to change my barrel. Are these any good?

Post image

Does anyone have experience with this barrel? Is it reliable? I’m not looking for anything fancy because my wallet won’t allow it. I’ve abused my current barrel and I’m trying to find a replacement with iron sights.

Thank you for your time

Do we consider the Summit a 10/22

Just curious what the die hard think. Just ordered one and wondering how she will shoot as I have read they are hit or miss. Hell of a price tag for a .22 that may shoot may not.

New gun day

Post image

Picked up a 10/22 today! Ruger 10/22 Sport South Exclusive. I had a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 that I had them put on it. Plans include changing most things over timelikely my first mod will be an Archangel Precision stock in desert tan, then a bipod, then likely a BX trigger, then a threaded bull barrel. Little by little it will become what I want it to be! But for now just going to put rounds through it the way it is and have fun. Not bad for a little $250 gun.

Range Day

About a year ago I bought the basic 10/22 carbine. My intro into .22lr. I upgraded some internals and just switched out a Romeo 5 for the Burris droptine 3-9 x 40. Pretty happy with it. Need more practice at 75+ yards though

First Ruger 10/22

Always wanted one in my collection and my LGS had one and my wife convinced me it would be a good idea so it came home with us Saturday evening. Sunday morning I gave her a good cleaning and then hit the range. I put about 100 rounds of CCI Mini Mags and then about 350-400 rounds of some Remington Thunderbolt through it without any problems. Definitely happy with the purchase. No problems with either of the 2 BX-25 mags we got either.

I designed some magazine extensions for the 10rd mags. It's a free print file on makerworld if anyone would like to make some of their own.

Went out today with my new 10/22

What a pleasant rifle to shoot. $0.80 to shoot a full mag is real nice, too. Waiting on a new hammer and chassis, will invest in some gongs soon since paper isn’t very exciting. I think I should buy a mag loader.

Had a guy come up and ask if he could shoot with us, I got to use his ridiculous 12 gauge shotgun which was an AR lower with an AK upper and a 12 shell mag. Comically large gun and a hell of a thing to shoot.
