Ooo... aircon removal. A classic, haven't seen one in a while. 🙌

Only time will tell. The bridge is unpredictable. One day it's a camper getting its AC mauled, other times it's boxtruck "snacks".

If i was the car driver I'd be so tempted to yell, "You're on YouTube now buddy!"

And the second car on the right just honks "move on, nothing special to see here"

Why did that car just stop? Wanted to witness it?

Probably the driver was over the speed limit, but even then, it seems like the light changes to yellow and to red almost too late for the driver to do anything.

Seems like the sensor for the overhead vehicle should be moved further away from the intersection so the driver has a longer possible reaction time.

Before the clearance increase, I got a semi trailer in the shop one day. It got plowed at just the right height. I break out my tape measure to verify and then jog up to the office excitedly.

"This thing hit a bridge in Durham, NC??"

"Y-yeah, how'd you know that?"

I then proceded to teach them about "11foot8."

I've been watching that channel for a while. I'd almost give all the rental trucks a pass, because even though the height minimum is placarded EVERYWHERE, most of the people rented a truck and don't think about it. But semi's and especially local drivers?! No excuse. I was in Durham in a van(still a little pucker factor) while I heard the construction raising was going on. There are signs all over the place warning about the height before you get there.

I still don't understand why people with tall boxes accelerate like maniacs in a places like that lol

Ironically, it looks like him trying to make the light after it started turning red for him being overheight.

I used to have to deliver in Durham. One of our stores was like 2 miles away from the bridge. ANYTIME there was a detour or something I'd almost panic.

Hmmmm.. that's strange... Cleared the warning bar and slammed into the bridge.. Something ain't right there

it didn't clear the bar

Oh shit you’re right. Just the way I watched it looks like it passed underneath but yeah it hit the bar hard

Another reason why I have a pop-up camper.

NS just recently raised the height of this bridge. But this STILL keeps happening.

There's a bridge like that in Long Grove Illinois.

A covered bridge. At least four times a year a truck will hit it because of low clearance.

I love how the smaller car in the right hand lane essentially parks and waits to enjoy the show they know is gonna happen 🤣

That bridge is like a volcano that goes dormant then stirs back to life when you least expect it.

ELIM5 - what does 8+8 mean?

2

It was 11'8" tall when built. A few years back they rebuilt it 8" taller. It turned many of the Can Opener crashes into scrape the roof off crashes.
