I saw one on the Hutch last week - too bad I couldn't take a picture.
You know the 9' high bridge on the southbound Hutch, just before the Whitestone bridge? There is a gigantic sign saying 9 feet clearance, all high vehicles must exit now. How can anyone miss it?
The 18-wheeler was on the other side of the bridge, totally destroyed, surrounded by cop cars. It was 11:30 AM on Friday, August 1. Anyone get a picture?
Are you talking about the bridge right after exit 1B? With the train line also going over the bridge?
If so, I have dozens of pictures of the trucks that hit that bridge. I just worked on the bridge reconstruction project there and over the last 8 years it was hit around 60 times. FedEx was the most frequent singular offender
Any trucker not familiar with the area usually follows their gps which frequently puts people on the hutch to save a few minutes from the traffic jam that is 95
Honestly the trucks sustain more damage than the bridges do. On that bridge I mentioned we actually constructed "protection beams" which are big steel box girders that are meant to take the brunt of these hits. On that bridge the only damage that's been left behind is paint scratches lol
