It was the ottomans who created the state of algiers, specifically khayradin barbarossa and his brother.

Definitely a hero who deserves more recognition.

Itโ€™s funny the contrast in opinions - for arab history he was a true hero, for the uropeans he was just a pirate and algeria was just a giant pirate base lol. Just look him up in english and in arabic, the difference is staggering

But every source says that Spanish Inquisition burned people who didnt convert alive, jews and muslims, barbossa saved tens of thousands of them from the spaniards, which means, hero.

you mean he put slaves into galleys with exposed backs under a scorching Mediterranean sun until their skin came off? I mean I'm not surprised this is your standard for heroism... third world irredentists do have a funny system of values

  1. Am not Portuguese but live here, flair is for the banter
  2. Cry harder lol. You just confessed you furiously masturbate to the idea of your perceived ingroup doing the same as long as it's done to your perceived outgroup. See, everyone is after their interests? The only difference is skill issue.
  3. Talking about skill issue, this was accidentally (or not) posted on the anniversary of the battle of Lepanto. Get rekt + Christus Rex

According to some modern estimates, around 150,000 people were prosecuted for various offences during the three-century duration of the Spanish Inquisition, of whom between 3,000 and 5,000 were executed, approximately 2.7 percent of all cases. They prosecuted the โ€œconversosโ€ that were โ€œformerโ€ jews and muslims that said to have converted to Christianity but practice their religion in secret, there were several muslims and converso revolts before and after it

kinda how the crusades in European history are all these epic wars and revenge and conquest, meanwhile for arab historian of the time, it was just "yet another series of attacks from the unwashed franks"
