"Europe would crumble without US help"

The humble European drive to create deadly weapons the likes no one has ever seen since Ancient History:

Greeks in 450 when they invented the flamethrower

Speaking of which is the recipe still considered lost?

that also tends to forget one factor, that the crumblers and crumblees in ww2 were both european. europeans crumbling under other europeans is pretty normal.

That's neither tradition nor minimal anything. The one above is more minimalist. In fact, the song works well with just the children's voices.

It is a minimal techno remix, so yes it is minimal. And the "tradition" is a pickup of the joke before, so yes, it is minimal tardition.

Also, the movie (Les enfants de monsieur Mathieu/Les Choristes) is pretty good. Fantastic music, of course.

I had never heard the movie be called "les enfants de monsieur Mathieu", where is that from?

Might be from the german name, actually. I translated the title to english in my head, realised that wasn't the english title, then translated it to french for some reason, lol. mb

Great depiction of how advanced Europe could be without Pierre sabotaging us.

We could say the same of you Hans-

But we don’t.

Man, seeing Felix Baumgartner's stratospheric jump is so bittersweet now. He survived this insane stunt from 40km but died doing pretty normal paragliding.

This needs to be the top post on this subreddit, I have never seen this level of circlejerking before. 100% accurate though.

We are REALLY taking a slow period. I'm not a figurehead of industrious hard work, but I get up every morning at 5 to get to work and do a full day, I know it's a good joke that I like siestas etc but even by my standards, we have gotten lazy. We are the master civilisational hub, used to be other places would invent stuff, like china with gunpowder, and we would see it, envision it's true potential and use that power to climb atop the corpse pile to plant our flags. Now we make safe places for people's feelings. Fuck your feelings, fuck my feelings, fuck HAPPINESS for the working man, we should reserve that for women and children like we used to and get back to pushing this stupid species we are part of into a brighter future, no matter the cost to ourselves or others. The survival of our species really does depend on us.

9

u/mig19farmer Unemployed waiter 4d ago

Fuck happiness? The pursue of happiness is a modern European value we paid for with centuries of our own blood and misery. Europe must absolutely be the blueprint of mankind's future but not by being a corporate state like the muricans or collectivist people grinding machines like the Asians.

But yes, you're right to some degree.

u/mynaneisjustguy Unemployed waiter 4d ago

I know we were headed that way but look what it has done to us. We have become purple haired people pleasers. They used to tell horror stories about us across every other continent! Now we are where their dictatorial ruling classes invest for a property portfolio. We have sold them our land, we have sold them our industry, we have sold them our agriculture and we are a shadow of the people we were when we treated everyone (including ourselves) like crap.

9

u/TriloBlitz [redacted] 4d ago

How bright can a future be without happiness though?

6

u/inamestuff Side switcher 4d ago

Trying to read between the lines, I guess the fella above is saying that chasing happiness per se is not what creates happiness. Creating a better future on the other hand does, as a nice side effect of being a superior civilisation

5

u/mynaneisjustguy Unemployed waiter 4d ago

Thank you, Luigi gets it: we have to drag people to an actual better life instead of the semblance of happiness we have now. What we have now is just stuff. Machines that make sounds and lights. But we can't afford houses and we don't stand up for what we believe in.
