Preferred Ammunition
Running suppressed with an 8.5” barrel, curious what brands and grains are preferred for both super’s and subs! Typically shoot AAC 150g supers & 220g subs.

I will keep this short and to the point gents.
Do not add to the mod queue. Do not subtract from the population of users. Do not comment while too intoxicated to control yourself.
In the last few weeks, moderator queues have shot up due to people being unable to be reasonable to one another in the comments in this community.
Disagreement is fine.
Dropping slurs, attacking them personally, commenting a retort with a pic of someone's house, insulting their wife's looks by stalking family pictures from a vacation posted 2 years ago... not fine.
Learn to use the block button. Learn to touch grass. Learn to be something unlike a jerk.
Transparency: Several months ago Reddit instantiated an auto-moderator be default for subreddits. Since then we have tweaked the settings it has been catching a lot more comments with the ugly things in them. When these suspect comments are in the mod queue, they are not posted for others to see yet, even if they look visible to you. What it does do is cause a member of the mod team to have to respond to the notifications to approve them and resolve issues when people go WAY too far. So, as cathartic as it might feel to rip into someone, it likely will not even get seen by them because the auto-moderator is putting the nasty stuff in comment jail. If it is bad enough, it gets the comment removed and the user banned.
Lastly, don't report comments that you dislike for Harassment. It only makes more work for us, but ultimately simple disagreement gets approved and kicked back out of the mod queue anyway. Repeated abuse of any feature will net a ban. Yes, every user has a summary of reports and past queue incidents. Yes, we look at it.
Please feel free to disagree, debate, correct misinformation, and generally debate on subject matter specific to the subreddit. I am not here to babysit grown men, nor do I want to. My ideal week would have 0 reasons to look at the sub with mod tools.
Moderate your own actions and we are all better for it.
This has been your safety brief.

Like many of you I'm really tired of trying to run down .300 AAC Ammo deals so I thought if there's every been a sticky this reddit really needs it's a shortcut to all the ammo trackers. Here's what I've found so far, please submit others that you know of and I will add them to the list.

Hey everyone, I’m looking to purchase a 300BO upper for hunting whitetail this year. Im located in the southeast and any shots will be within 100 yards. Looking to swap out my 556 upper on an existing rifle lower. I’m currently between 2 options the CMMG Resolute 16” or the KAK 16” w/ 15” MLOK. If you’ve own either of these, what do you think? Are there any other options I should look at in the $700 price range?

Just got in a brand new round from Phantom loaded with the Maker Rex 242gr. They say it needs a 1:5 twist to stabilize, but JBM calculator says it’s good in a 1:7. I’m going to test it out this weekend

I built a 300 BO and was initially having trouble getting it to cycle consistently with Winchester super suppressed ammo which I have a ton of because it was so cheap. My initial thought was cut down on buffer weight but I had an aluminum BCG just hanging out and it's been running great ever since. My main concern is the longevity of the carrier and was wondering if anyone had any experience with lighter weight BCGs that don't cost an arm and a leg?

So I’ve been back and forth about 100 times now and have read a shit ton of posts about the rattler Lt. seems to be a great firearm but it’s just pricey so I want to here what you all think. I can build a 7.5” 1/5 twist AR and also buy a trash panda for a dedicated can for the same price as a rattler Lt. Which would you choose for overall reliability and duty use? I would have to buy some tools. Build: Upper and lower spikes tactical Spikes bcg Spikes bar 2 rail 10” ( suppressor will fit inside the rail) Faxon 7.5” match 1/5 twist Superlative Adj gas block Radian SD Some kind of nice trigger ~$250 Lwrci uciw to keep it compact as possible yet still operational. Lower parts kit Without trash panda ~1500 maybe 1600 Add panda ~$2500

I have owned the sig rattler canebrake and DD PDW in the past. I got rid of both because I couldn’t justify having such an expensive gun that I didn’t shoot much due to ammo costs. (Im SWAT and get tons of training, classes and time under trigger with my 5.56 and handgun).
However I still want to have a 300 Blk rifle that is reliable enough to trust for home defense / hunting / SHTF. I was thinking about the PSA JAKL but wanted to see other opinions.
For reference I have a Mk18, 10.5” geissele & 16” DDM4V7 all 5.56 and an MPX in 9mm

Hey all I got bit with the 300 black out bug and got a few guns in it what would be the best Scope to use on this project?
If I was gonna buy an 300 AR and not build one, what would be a good buy for a mid tier AR? Not high end but also not the lowest.

Enough testing has been done with our 300blk AMD and the 7.62x39 F47 race gun to which we now feel confident venturing into a smaller platform in 300blk.
We originally wanted an even shorter package but due to the AK architecture we found it best to stick to the 7.5” barrel for the time being.
Barrel specs will be as follows: - 1:5 twist - 416R stainless - 7.5” in length - 1/2x28 thread - custom profile for harmonics and heat management
More pics to come!

I know kak and sionics have barrels with suppressor optimized gas ports for 556 barrels, but ive only found one option for 300blk, overt industries.
Can anyone recomend overt industies or another option? I dont want to by an adjustable gas block because i already have a standard gas block and tuve laying around, just need a barrel.
This will be for a an ar that i will only use supers with
Looking to build this 7.5 .300 for home defense (can incoming) and thought about adding a light but don’t really see a comfortable placement when I’m shooting Ik 12 o clock lights are 50/50 in the community if there was one that wouldn’t obstruct my view I wouldn’t mind would you guys suggest the offset light mount ? Or 12 o clock or do I need to fix hand placement to have 3,9 o clock

Hit the range with some new parts
I’m about to finish my first 300BLK (8.5” PSA upper, will probably upgrade the barrel in the future) and looking for ammo. I watched Kevin Brittingham’s guest-appearance on the Unsubscribe Podcast a few months ago and he was saying that most commercial (and reloaded) “.300 Blackout” is more like .300 Whisper. He explained that the biggest hurdle when developing .300 Blackout was that most .308 projectiles cause reliability issues (particularly feeding out of a 5.56 mag), so they developed a projectile of similar overall dimensions to .308, but an altered shape to help mitigate those issues. He said anyone who sells “.300 Blackout” mags is actually selling mags for .300 Whisper, real .300 Blackout with proper longer projectiles won’t fit in those mags.
Kevin specifically pointed to Hornady as a brand that recently started making some of their .300BLK to what he deems the proper specs, but also still marketing some .300 Whisper as .300BLK.
What truth is there to this whole thing, and what specific factory ammo would you recommend (particularly that I might be able to get from TargetSports, because I have their Ammo+ subscription)?
Don’t need subs, because unfortunately suppressors are illegal in my state. Just looking for reliable and affordable.
