I drive a BT50 for work it’s the same as a D-max and after driving it for a year I decided to buy a Hilux for my personal car and I’m so happy I did.

Could you expand on that? What is it exactly that you like more about the hilux.

Power, throttle response, reliability, hydraulic power steering instead of electric, no bump steer issue with the Hilux, aftermarket accessories, reliability and reliability. I’m confident that if my Hilux has an issue I can get it fixed almost anywhere where as my BT50 has been in for warranty repairs twice and both times they have had no idea what the issue is caused by after 2 weeks of investigation.

Avoid the DMAX, just not worth the money. Throttle response is dead randomly at times, just flat spots. Servicing has been shithouse.

Dmax all day. You’ll pay 30% more for the hilux just because of the name. Dmax is reliable and solid as a truck. Only a small percentage experience bump steer issues. Most are fine

Both are decent, no such thing as indestructible any more and the Toyota tax is unwarranted. On value alone go for dmax
