Look..I apologize for the rant I’m about to go on. I get it. It takes a lot of volunteers, every state and city is different, and not all are equal in size and marketing. But goddammit we are CONSTANTLY whiffing at bringing in ALL supporting orgs under one roof + I see little to NO marketing/advertising outside of the circles (regular people have NO CLUE when protests are happening or simply confused). No posters, no local vocal, no fb events, no canvassing, no consistent messaging..and I’M SICK of it! Even the FiftyFiftyOne website has outdated events in cities, localities that can’t agree on the date (Aug 31 or Sept 1), and internal politics that can snuff out a movement faster than Trump can sign a stupid EO! Trust me, I’ve tried pleading with these groups to form a coalition (50501, mobilize.us, general strike, peoples sick day, etc). WTF are we doing?? And yes, no matter what I’ll be there, I’ll show up wherever I’m needed..but this movement will fall apart and protesting is only a FRACTION when we need ACTION! And you need the numbers instead of splintering into sub-groups! We will be made illegal before we know it..they’re already making moves as we speak. Bring the groups together before it’s too late.

This is where those posting flyers need to also post print posters. And ask people to print them and post in their neighborhood, at the YMCA any place you can post them. Put them on windshields & give to likeminded Friends to do the same!
This takes all of us to pitch in!

Generally agree, but putting anything on windshields or otherwise touching someone's vehicle is a good way to make them mad at you and whatever is on the flyer.

Just encourage people to follow Indivisible.org, we have to pick one and get behind it, we're falling further and further behind here.

YES!! Just commented about my local Indivisible group and they are out every Wednesday protesting at our local town hall. It’s awesome and i think it may also be a matter of really having to dig to find the hidden gems in our own local communities.

Hey, if it means anything to you, in my city, we have something called Chippewa Valley Indivisible, where every Wednesday they hold a protest outside of the town hall. I see them there every week passing by and they’re ALWAYS there front and center holding signs and even having signs that say “honk for peace.” I think it’s fucking awesome that even if others may not see it, there are local towns and cities that are holding these types of events and there are people out here everyday busting ass to do ANYTHING to try and make a point that this current GOP is corrupt and needs to be taken down. I get your frustrations 100%, but just know that even if you may not be able to actively get consistent results with protesting groups, there are other groups that thankfully have the opportunity and community to consistently show up and show out to protest against this bullshit.

Tl, dr: march for morale and to make an impression. Then boycott broadly and long term to make the all life or all death differences we need.
I’ll be there to support the effort to honor their families and those disappeared by ICE. To hopefully raise awareness among the uninformed. To show that some of us realize the need to resist fascism right here and now. And to build community and morale among the participants.
That said, there is a way for groups of protesters scattered across the country to begin to make a real difference in all our existential problems. Commit to an open ended, broad boycott. Only buy essentials. For as long as it takes to have our demands met.
Consumer spending is 2/3 of US GDP. Advertisers and influencers and “the Joneses” people try to keep up with are the pushers that keep us addicted to more and more. Shake off the addiction to buying stuff we don’t need and see what happens.
Watch as the Amazon and Walmart trucks make fewer trips. As the warehouses begin to overflow. And as the CEOs and billionaires see income drop and drop while the bills keep coming.
These oligarchs will try things that don’t work but will soon ask Trump to make us buy needless stuff again. He won’t be able to.
Unless he meets our demands. Undoes the ICE explosion. Stops threatening to sic the military on us, Canada, Greenland and the Canal Zone. Reverses the austerity. Lets all the renewable energy be built that responsibly can. Starts rapidly drawing fossil fuels. And while the 1% are already screaming, reverse their tax cuts and increase their brackets to 90% like when Reagan was president and America was “great”.
Unrealistic? Well what are US democracy and a livable, biodiverse Earth worth? Those are what we must hold out for. Don’t buy. Strike nationwide as will likely be necessary. So we stop being the humans that are so pathetically selfish, addicted to comfort and muddled by COVID that we are allowing it all to ruined. Forever.
