Discussion English difficulty in ADA
Hi, future ADA student here. I successfully got the score of 670 out of 700 from “State Exam Center” exam. Now what concerns me is the EAPP program. I looked through the website of ADA and I found out that Duolingo english exam score of 105/160 is enough to skip EAPP program. But unfortunately getting that score does not mean you know academic english. Enough yapping, my question is: how difficult is the english language in ADA? Is EAPP program or C1 level really necessary to understand the lectures in ADA?
I believe that my level of english is B2, currently trying to improve myself to C1 until September. Should I be worried about my english? Or should I skip the EAPP program? Because 6500 bucks dont grow on trees💔😭

I actually thought about it. And, To be honest, if your score is already over the limit, it should be ok. I don’t think ADA randomly decided that passing 105 is enough to skip the EAPP program. They are more experienced than you and me so there is probably a reason for that. Long story for short, what Im trying to say is that if the passing score is 105, i think it means your english knowledge is enough for the lectures in the university. This is just my theory though✌️ May I ask what you’re going to study in ADA?

Hello there! I'm currently doing my master’s degree at ADA, and I also got admitted through the Duolingo test. The required score for master’s degree at the time was 140/160.
Even among master’s students, there are people who still struggle a bit with English, especially when speaking. But honestly, it hasn’t been a major issue. Everyone does their best to express themselves, and if someone has trouble, they might switch to another language or get a little help from the professor or classmates.
The good news is that professors at ADA don’t constantly use complicated academic English during lectures. They’re well aware that bachelor’s students come from different backgrounds, and they usually try to communicate in a way that everyone can understand.
Also, based on how you wrote your post, your English already seems quite strong. If you’re aiming for a C1 level by September, I think you’ll be more than ready, and you should be totally fine taking the Duolingo test to skip EAPP.
Best of luck, and welcome to ADA!
