Did you like the booing of Quaynor? Why were the crows fans booing him specifically?

Because they (irrationally) blame him for Rankine not playing. It's not that deep.

Oh right, so they were just booing a dude that got called a homophobic slur. Definitely a normal thing to do

No, they were booing him because he got Rankine suspended (in their minds), not because he got a slur. Don't know if you noticed, but people often park their brain when they go to the footy.

But we all know why they were booing him. They’re still booing the victim in the scenario.

Yeah but they aren't thinking past step 1 - Rankine got suspended because IQ reported. Like I said, it's not that deep. Also, many don't see him as a victim since he isn't gay.

Why does that make it any different? It's still an incredibly shitty and gross thing to do that obviously comes from a place of homophobia, or at least from a place of ignorance of the feelings of queer people.

Also he wasn't even the one who reported it, so the whole basis for the booing is non-existent.

I understand they’re not. And we don’t know whether IQ is gay or not, and he is the only one who has the right to decide how he feels or should feel about it all. Regardless of the reasoning behind it, it was booing a victim. I’m not trying to start an argument at all, I just genuinely don’t understand what you are saying. Do you mean that the fact he was the victim doesn’t enter these supporters’ minds? Like - A: it was reported = B: Rankine isn’t playing? And they aren’t thinking beyond that? So they would be booing the player who reported it regardless of who it was, and it’s just bad luck that the belief is that it was IQ?

Are you sure about his sexuality? Also IQ didn't report it. The crows did after the Collingwood runner told them about it. The whole thing is moronic, that doesn't excuse what it was.

To be clear, I'm not excusing it as the wrong thing to do, but I am rejecting assertions of it being driven by homophobia. Rather, it was driven by shallow tribalism.

Of course not, but I’m not under the delusion a single person will cancel a membership over it
