Discussion Unpopular opinion about the Earth Generals:

I would like the outfit the Earth Generals wear... if it wasn't by the fact that they're barefoot.

Some of you will kill me because of what I'm saying but... the Earth Generals' lack of footwear makes them look so dumb.

"They're barefoot because they need to connect with earth, and that way, earthbend easier! You dumbass!"

So what. Like, Bruh, they're really vulnerable. What if any of these generals step on something sharp? Or a hot terrain? What if they step on glass or legos? And what if someone could just step on their feet? I didn't even mention how the Fire Nation soldiers could burn their feet, or at least tickle their soles.

Bruh, these Earth Generals are so dumb that they choose to walk barefoot in spite of all the drawbacks. No wonder why Azula could invade Ba Sing Se so easily.

Being barefoot is really good character design for the earth benders. it allows you to almost immediately tell which earth kingdom citizens are benders or non-benders (eg the twins in the fortune teller village)

Yeah, but some earthbenders wear shoes (like the Dai Li and their leader).

dai li often dont bend the ground, but rather those stone gloves. so this is actually consistent

Now that I think about it, the only earth benders I recall with footwear are Dai Li and Fire Nation Man.

Alright just checked. Haru's gang sometimes have footwear too. Gotta check his day of the black sun outfit because maybe for him it's because Earth bending was banned and the metal prison under sunlight is probably way hotter than hot earth.

Don't they feel the earth and it's vibrations with their feet? Like Toph did? I always perceived the earthbending just like that. Toph is a hell of a bender because her touch is enhanced due to her blindness.

If you consider that they need this direct contact to FEEL the earth like a part of their own body, how could they step on a rock and fuck things up?

I really don't think it was a coincidence that only the earth benders are barefoot aka directly touching the earth while they bend.

Aren't they supposed to be hard headed and a bit dumb?

Yeah they should have something in their feet but the earth people always see them rough and strong so this was fit, not agree with them but yeah they kinda foolish

You could say this is the Earth Kingdom's main flaw in general.

Yeah they should have something in their feet but the earth people always see them rough and strong so this was fit, not agree with them but yeah they kinda foolish

They're very foolish. I wish I could step on these generals' feet so hard that they ended up crying like little girls.

Yeah, one of the earth army got his foot burned by Iroh when he escape

Also one time toph can't use bender because his feet are burned by someone who, I can't remember who

I figure being shoed and Earthbending isn’t impossible but it’s probably better barefoot and it’s also probably somewhat of a flex if you don’t have soft weak feet.
