Need a little brain fuel or just some chill background vibes? Check out Chill Lofi Day, a carefully curated playlist with mellow lofi beats and jazzhop grooves, updated regularly and always smooth. My go-to for study sessions or kicking back after work. Might be your new fave too ;)

Ask Me Anything: IT Careers, Co-ops, and Studies (Virtual Talk - Sept 6)

Hi everyone, Allen here!

Some of you may know me from my previous post about my journey as a Computer Programmer with co-op at Algonquin College, or maybe you met me in person when I was a panelist at iTechTalk hosted by the college.

I graduated from the Computer Programmer program at Algonquin College and since then, I’ve been working in various IT roles (private and public sectors). This month, I’m also starting my Master’s degree at the University of Ottawa.

I’m planning to host a casual virtual talk for anyone interested in discussing IT topics—whether you’re studying, looking for a co-op, or job hunting. There won’t be strict rules; it’ll be open Q&A and conversation.

📅 Date/Time: Saturday, September 6th, 1-2 PM

🔗 How to join: Online Talk with Allen (I’ll send the invitation after you register)

Feel free to bring any questions or just listen in. Looking forward to chatting with you!

Hey new student here. Can anyone who knows the campus very well let me know if water bottle refill stations are available in every building? If not, what is the closest one to both ACCE and T building? TIA.

Medical Radiation books

Hey everyone!

For those of you who have gone through the MRT program at Algonquin, I was wondering did you find that all of the required textbooks for the courses were really helpful, especially during the first semester of the first year?

I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth buying all of them right away, or if some books end up being less useful. How did the textbooks help you with your studies?

Any advice or personal experience would be super appreciated!

Time of entry

Hello,

I’m a new student and I’d like to know what time students are allowed to enter the buildings. I want to get to school early so I can work out around 7 AM and still be ready for my class at 10.

The only information I’ve found online says 8:30, but I’m pretty sure that’s just the business hours for services. I’d like to know what time students can actually come in.

Thanks in advance!

Hi all! Anyone starting RT in January 2026? I’m wondering how you all are preparing for the semester:) I might be a bit early but I graduated from Graphic Design in 2023 and am switching careers to become a respiratory therapist. I know the program will be more demanding so I’d like to hear how you are preparing to enter the medical field/studies !!

Music Industry Arts students

Hey I’m hoping to make some connections with students in the music industry arts program… Currently enrolled in the law clerk program and was possibly thinking of switching. But also would be cool regardless as I am involved with a music scene and would be dope to have some access to the equipment and resources here. If you are taking this program get in touch would love to make some stuff happen at some point, talk about what kind of music you make or help me understand more about the program.

Campus to Online

Hello wonderful AC students

I got accepted into the 1st year/1st semester Computer Programming and Analysis at Ottawa Campus (1385 Woodroffe Ave)for this Fall 2025, and I was wondering if I could still take the same program but the online version of it? I saw on the website that there is indeed an online version of it.

Would it be possible? Anyone been through the same thing can tell me what should I do? also, would that affect my OSAP application?

THANK YOU GUYS IN ADVANCE <33

Need help with connecting my switch to the wifi

I already made a post about this but there wasn’t really anything helpful. Whenever i try connecting to the wifi on my switch it says that the network’s settings don’t allow me to connect it. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Is there a payment plan for tuition?

Might seem like an obvious question but is there a payment plan for tuition or are you expected to pay it in full at the start or the end of the semester? I'll be attending in January btw.

Perth campus parking & tips

Any good tips for a new student in Perth? Like, any secret gems?

And what is the parking situation there like through the semester?

Anyone here know about handicap parking?

I have a parking permit for the semester, and use handicap parking. I've been told by parking services that I can park in any lot's handicap parking, whichever is closer to my building. But looking at the campus map, all student parking lots are to the right of campus. The only lots within campus and near the buildings are ALL hourly or employee permit parking only.

Anyone know if I'm allowed to use the handicap spots in hourly or employee parking lots with my student parking permit? I've sent off an email to the parking office but worried I might not get a response before orientation... in the CA building on the complete opposite end of campus with only an hourly lot next to it. Having to walk across campus kinda defeats the entire purpose of using handicap parking, so does anyone here have experience with handicap parking on campus?

Selling Human Services Foundations material

Hello everybody

I'm selling the Ethics and Developmental Disabilities manual (Challenge Press Inc.), a required course material for the Human Services Foundations program.

Price: $30 - Almost half the cost of the campus store.

Almost new material, with very few signs of use. All the few notes made have been erased.

Hand delivered to Algonquin College Campus, Ottawa.
