It's only this episode that looked like this. This was handed to Hakuyu Go's team to do whatever crazy shit they wanted and it looked completely different than the rest. And it was awesome

Yeah, but ask yourself: if only needing to rely on the pre-existing Type-MOON fandom, and without releasing Grand Order on Western markets, would they have even had the finances to consider animating anything after Stay/Night, much less at quality?

Oh I'm sure you're right, but I just dislike it when people see insane sakuga and spam "unlimited budget works." This isn't something you just spawn with money — literally only 1 team in the entire industry does this kind of animation

I know I belong to the minority but I'm little annoyed how messy this feels. Little hard to follow what is happening. But I love my dude Karna.

Funny enough, what bothered me the most was the part with the least action. While he was charging his Noble Phantasm, his face changed art styles like 3 times.

Also with “everything moving” you notice when stuff isn’t moving and there’s a lot of layers that just stay still while the shapes are flying all over.
Like they went into detail with frame by frame but not into detail on blending them once they all play

There's such a thing as doing too much. There's so much flashy shit on the screen at such an insane scale that ultimately it's impossible to get a sense of what actually matters and you just don't care.

There’s a bunch of flashy frame by frame drawings. But then the backgrounds and foregrounds look like they are being click and dragged in less detailed parts

I feel that the camera direction mishaps are the reason why this feels messy, way more than the overload of stuff going on.
Still cool though. And Karna is an absolute champ.

I cringe whenever I see people say this scene had bad animation

Fair to call it inconsistent I think. It's consumerism taking over people's heads and making them forget animation is an art form not a retail product, so when freedom of expression is exercised to this extent they feel put off and don't understand how to describe what they see

Apocrypha is absurdly stupid in almost every way, but the animation still hits so hard.

Bugets are just restrictions who needs them go all out and give me your product we need this more lol

Something that was spent on a shit ton of "bass-boosted fart.mp3" noises that infested the animation of this fight.

Am I the only one who wants less light effects and more clearly visible character movements?

Animator ' Director, whats our budget for this episode?"
Director "Don't worry about the budget , just do your best"
Animator *cracks neck and fingers* "Cowabunga it is then"
