Mortal influence over God's.

Ao im listening to a Lore video by PancreasNoWork and he mentions how gods can and are shaped by mortal belief.

So my question here becomes if Chaos worshippers in AoS vastly outnumber Sigmarites and other worshippers could Chaos not command their followers to believe Sigmar is a God but change him/his aspect?.

So sigmar is sky/heavens god and god of civilisation, battle etc. But if enough chaos followers believed that he was the god of kittens would that be able to change who Sigmar is?.

Can a gods role/domain etc be forcefully changed if a large enough group of mortals belive it to be so?.

If so has Chaos just not done this because they are so narcissistic that they dont want their worshippers worshipping anyone else even if it would ultimately serve them.

Do they realise this can be done and just dont because they enjoy the 'great game'.

No, not really?

Like first of, gods in Warhammer aren't shaped by belief but ideals. They're created when a lot of people have similar emotions, worldviews, experiences etc. and that all that psychic energy merges, coalesces and eventually gains sentience. Belief in a god makes them more powerful because it feeds them more of this emotional energy, but it doesn't really change them. If a being is literally made out of the concept of Rage, or Justice, or Cooking a Delicious Pie (yeah, Halfling gods), you can't just make them stop doing so just because you believe in it.

And for Ascended Gods that goes even further because they actually still have their original mortal personalities in charge of everything and thus have far more independence from their sphere than Elemental Gods. Thus Sigmar can naturally grow as a person in a way that Tzeentch or Gorkamorka just can't.

Gods do seem to be influenced by beliefs. Underworld in the realm of death are arstonger when the civilization that believes in it is around. If all of the believers die the underworld fades away.

Believers can also believe in different aspects of a god that can affect how they see them. And chaos followers could see Sigmar as a scaredy-cat who ran away from the true gods of Chaos.

But that probably just changed Sigmar into the current version who is humbled in his plans and Empowers the Stormcast Eternals and the forces of Azyr to retake the Mortal Realms.

I know it's because of GW but I mean lore wise its funny this doesn't seem to have become apparent to the Chaos gods at all. Of it has they've kept it quiet as they'd rather have beings on the other side.

I'm not well in the 'know' of EH Fantasy but were the chaos gods in the know about Archeaons plans to end the world?. Surely such an action would be detrimental to the Chaos gods. Even if they are multi-versal thats quiet the food source to lose.

The chaos gods are ultimately self destructive and ever present.

Gods are born of believe, but once they are born, they become their own beings. They can make their own decisions and have their own sense of self.

If people start having a different interpretation of that god and worshiped it and had true faith on it, they would add to the god, but they would be unable to change who that god is now.
