Need advice on finding a student room in Sydney (streamer + student life)

Hey guys,

I just landed in Sydney and will be starting my Master’s. Apart from studying and doing part-time work, I also stream (games + social/desktop stuff). Since I’ll be streaming, I’m not sure what kind of room setup I should be looking for here.

• Should I go for a single room or is it okay to share if I want to stream regularly?
• What’s the usual budget range for something decent (not too far from CBD/Surry Hills)?
• Any rules or policies in Australia that I should know as a streamer (like noise issues, landlord restrictions, etc.)?

I want a place where I can focus on my studies, manage part-time work, and also keep streaming without disturbing others. Any advice or personal experience would be super helpful 🙏

Must be nice as a student to not have to make decisions on where to live like every other Australian, which comes down to 'which place can I afford will take me'.

Ok, then what’s the most practical setup I can get within my budget in Sydney.

I don't know fam, look on realestate.com.au. I think you're on the wrong website.

What's your budget?

The best thing to do for a lower budget option is to rent a private room in a share house with other people.

We use the flatmates Australia website

A private room in a sharehouse in Sydney is around $300 - $450 all bills included

Try flatmate.com.au if you are looking for share accommodation.

I've no idea for your other questions re streaming. Should imagine its something you would negotiate with any potential flatmates??

Check the local council noise policies re time restrictions if its something that is going to be noisy (eg loud music)

Your budget is probably going to $500 a week or more. The more you want the higher the cost will be

Rules: generally if you're living in a sharehouse you should really be quiet between 11pm and 8am.

Learn to be quiet moving around the house in that time also so you don't wake people up. Don't be cooking after 11pm. Don't pull the door closed making a loud noise - turn the door handle and gently close it. Don't be talking on the phone outside housemates room at night time.

If you talk online while gaming wear headphones and always close your bedroom door
