Cuisine Are these drink powders only popular in Croatia?
Have been to HR a couple of times, but I have noticed just now these... basically sugar and aroma and EVERYONE is drinking it o_O (Guess these add a lot to the overweight problems around here.)
Is this solely a Croatian thing or a Balkans way of life, folks?

Popular in all Ex Yugoslavia. Some ppl don't understand it's developed as a food supplement, so not to be ingested daily in great quantities.

You can't overdose it. They removed all fat soluble and left contains water soluble vitamins. For that exact reason.

Ingesting water has it's limits...
Stay safe and healthy, but don't just exercise and eat right. Do some drugs too. Live.
Cheers!

Very interesting. In Serbia we’ve been drinking Cedevita for as long as as I remember. It’s quite popular in coffee shops too.

Cedevita Is the goat but also no one except you can measure it properly

Lmaoooooo, I literally dump a shit ton of it in my water just so I can feel the sweetness and the orange acidic flavour 🤤

u/SamiTheAnxiousBean Bosniak in Serbia Jul 10 '25
for me it depends on the Cedevita
Mango and Ananas I add it to water and a little bit of sugar on top
for Lemon or Lime I add it to lemonade instead of water
Blood orange is fine as is with just water
can't be bothered to recall my water to Cedevita ratios

hahaha thats the most accurate statement of all time.
except those small pre-made bottles, those are actually really good to me.
3
u/kerberan Jul 10 '25
Yes, after tasting Cedevita in premade bottles I felt vindicated because it is just like I used to make it, everyone else used too little powder.
3
u/SamiTheAnxiousBean Bosniak in Serbia Jul 10 '25
I find the premade bottles use too little
and cafe's etc. use EVEN less, the one packet Cedevita sells seperately (the one thats apperently enough for one glass) has the same amount as the bottle so...a bit too little
imo Cedevita Is only worth it if you buy the bigger packs so you can measure it yourself

When you calculate the calories per serving, it turns out to have about 30%-50% less calories than Coca Cola, so, on the one hand - yes, not that great, but on the other - it's less bad than Coke.
19
u/hosiki Jul 10 '25
Also less bad than heroin.
10
5
u/fickogames123 Jul 10 '25
I mean heroin makes you lose weight so in purely terms of calories in and out, heroin is better than Cedevita

Never heard that brand. The only powdered drinks I know are called Step. Sold in small pouches that dissolve in 2l water, but here nobody uses them.
Now as a side note, we have drinks in bottles with the same quality of "wellbeing", that people do buy. My kids were shocked that green apples do not produce green juice, because that's what they see on the market shelves.
2
u/Necessary-Noise5578 Jul 10 '25
Oh we had Step in serbia when i was a kid, dont know if we still do. But its much different than cedevita.

4
u/buteljak Croatia Jul 10 '25
Basically our guilty pleasure. The taste depends on how much powder you scoop.
8
u/NikkS97 Jul 10 '25
In Serbia we used to have Multivita which was the same, but Serbian and I preferred the taste. Cedevita is fine as well. It's very popular across the Balkans. Also it's not that bad, it's less unhealthy than coke. I stay away from Cedevita cause if I have a little bit, I can't stop myself from drinking a looot.

"One does not speak ill-will of the Cedevita. It is a goated drink, and any speech that claims otherwise is considered heresy." - The Book of Croatia
Jokes aside, yes, it's popular in all Ex-Yu countries. Whether it's healthy or not is, uh... up for date. But there's many flavors to choose from, so there's something for almost everyone.

u/keqingthemain Jul 10 '25
They are popular amongst may countries in the region like Croatia, Slovenia... Some people think it's unhealthy because it has 85 grams of sugar in 100 grams of cedevita(though that's the powder, realistically when mixing with watter you take around 5 to 6g per 100ml or around 25g per drink with gives around 20g of sugar in the drink, compared to cola witch has almost 12g of sugar per 100ml and almost 50g of sugar per drink i think it ok(corect me if im wrong), though a lot put more that that for the "flavor") I really like it and think that drinking a glass won't do harm.
1
u/roach-online Jul 10 '25
"basically sugar and aroma" 1 serving (19g) is literally 70kcal and makes around 0.3L of the drink. unless someone's drinking an insane amount it's really not adding to the "overweight problem".
