If we win Israel by 20 or more I'm buying everyone lunch on work on Monday

u/Stverghame Serbia 2d ago

Call me then, I wanna have lunch in honor of Israel's loss.

Go Greece!

If you asked me yesterday if I’m willing to bet against Slovenia staying in Eurobasket the longest out of Ex-Yu countries… I would have been a poor man today.

5

u/trippy_toads Slovenia 2d ago

You and me both my friend.

4

u/Ha55aN1337 Slovenia 2d ago

Damn… should we start believing? 😅

Or do we tell Serbia and Bosnia to hold the door on the plane?

2

u/trippy_toads Slovenia 2d ago

guess we shall see today 😂

What a great game! So happy for SLO

u/Ha55aN1337 Slovenia 1d ago

I’m just happy sports bets are not huge here. I would be broke by now.

u/PlatinumState 2d ago

Hope you dudes win it all

u/Ha55aN1337 Slovenia 2d ago

Thanks man. I’m watching right now and it’s a different team. Playing defense. Owning Italy so far. Sure 90% of points are by Luka, but damn…

We are proud

We came without Musa,Garza and Castanade

37 year old Roberson carried hard

-20

u/tokopadi Greece 2d ago

oh yes, the Bosnian Robertson gave everything for the pride of his country. You are not the only team but really hate the idea of naturalized players. still good fight!

15

u/Educational-Goal3785 Serbia 2d ago

Hate that shit, good thing that Poland had 0 and Lloydovski carried.

-4

u/tokopadi Greece 2d ago

haha same goes for them and most teams. i just saw this comment mentioning Roberson and wanted to rant.

20

u/MagistarEFUNTZ Bosnia & Herzegovina 2d ago

Giannis grandparents still can't point where is Greece

I support getting at least one naturalised player. It gives boost to local basketball. Same thing when South American gets their citizenship by tracing their greatgreatgreatgrandparents came from Italy, Spain or Portugal

5

u/MagistarEFUNTZ Bosnia & Herzegovina 2d ago

If you think that 2% of NBA gave shit for USA basketball team they would always find a way to play in qualifiers or FIBA world championship

But they fight for better contract

So did Roberson. He got bag from Cibona yesterday.

We got result he got bag

That is called free market

0

u/tokopadi Greece 2d ago

good for him. i am just saying is weird to watch a basketball game in the eurobasket with the 2 best players on the court being Americans. thats all

5

u/MagistarEFUNTZ Bosnia & Herzegovina 2d ago

You cant have two just one, Roberson was replacement for Castanade

Brothers Antetokounmpo and Dorsey are true Greek with their heritage tracing back to Sparta kings

Only difference between them is than one was born in country and another one wasn't

But they share the same and that is citizenship. America is built on the immigrants

1

u/tokopadi Greece 2d ago

i am talking about Roberson and Loyd on the polish side. Antetokounbo bothers grew up in greece, played basketball in greece and are greek. i dont know why you cant understand the difference. Dorsey has spent years playing basketball in greece and his grandpa is greek. (and tbh still not sure how to feel about this one)

u/InfinitePractice9014 Albania 2d ago

Speaks the on whos National team is being carried by africans

2

u/Jose_Caveirinha_2001 2d ago

There's no sport in Western and Central Europe without immigrants.

6

u/tragick693 2d ago

Giannis and his brothers were born and raised in Greece. They are Greeks of Nigerian descent. Before he was naturalized, Roberson probably wouldn't be able to point out Bosnia on a map.

13

u/Local_Collection_612 2d ago

He got his Greek citzenship when he was 21years old in 2013 .So most of his lifetime he was not seen as a Greek by the Greek State. ‘Coincidental’ he went to the NBA in 2013 the same year he got his Greek citzenship. He is born in Greece, has a Greek citzenship so he is a Greek now. But you have absolutly no right criitcizing other countries for naturalising players.

5

u/tokopadi Greece 2d ago

Citizenship laws in Greece suck, agree. This is a different issue, bigger than basketball. Still i don't see the connection with naturalized players who have nothing to do with the country they are playing for.

6

u/Zmaj_99 Bosnia & Herzegovina 2d ago

Yeah, they are Greeks now that they are successful. Like Mesut Özil once said: „When we win, I am German. When we lose, I am an immigrant.“ The same applies in this case. I bet that most Greeks wouldn‘t consider the Antetokounmpos as Greeks if they were ordinary citizens.

They also got their citizenship in 2013. If they didn‘t make it to the NBA they would most likely still be stateless until today.

1

u/tokopadi Greece 2d ago

dude they are Greek. its not about race or color of skin. our team did the same with Walkup and i didn't like the decision.

3

u/InfinitePractice9014 Albania 2d ago

Common, hes family lived there for years as clandestines, without papers. Only after he got discovered by an american coatch and they couldnt play him because he got not a shred of document, your country gave them not only papers but citizenship. When it swits you they are greeks, spare me this shit malakas!!

-1

u/-MrAnderson Greece 2d ago

But we are not talking about how their situation was handled by the Greek State, which was handled as you describe. We are talking about them vs naturalized ones. They aren't naturalized, and before getting their citizenship they hadn't stepped their foot in Nigeria.

Perhaps they weren't considered Greek citizens before getting the papers, but what where they if not Greeks?

1

u/kostasnotkolsas Greece 2d ago

They are literally born and raised in Sepolia. Plus we have two EuroBasket trophies before them

What is Albania's sporting legacy?

2

u/InfinitePractice9014 Albania 2d ago

He was born and raised as clandestine until he got discovered by americans at 21 years of age. I cant stand your hypocrisy people! You can use the trophies for anal stimulation!

0

u/kostasnotkolsas Greece 2d ago

Yeah he had to wear a burqa when playing for Filathlitikos.

Stick to making eagle gestures, that's your sport.

1

u/Kalypso_95 Greece 2d ago

1

u/InfinitePractice9014 Albania 2d ago

Why, whats wrong with my hand gestures?! Your moma loves them 💦😙

0

u/Kalypso_95 Greece 2d ago

You can compare this Robertson "Bosnian" guy with Walkup, a naturalised "Greek" player, not Giannis

I really hate when people make shitty analogies just to prove a point, at least be able to compare similar situations otherwise you don't look very smart, just biased

1

u/InfinitePractice9014 Albania 1d ago

Tecnically the same, go and read the definition of naturalizzation. Your champion lived for 21 years in your country without residence because he got no papers. So he dindnt have the citizenship for long residency, neither for yus sangunis because he got no greek Blood, so for what??! To play for your national team, the same as the "bosnian". Now all of you are grabbing him for the balls like he achilles son. And the ones of you that more defend hes greekness, are the ones that treated and still treat like shitt him and the likes of him.

1

u/Reasonable-Total-628 2d ago

you are acting as if other countries dont use it as well. also giannis looks greek to me.. oh yea right

u/Mrtvoguz 2d ago

u/Puzzleheaded_Sail729 Turkiye 2d ago

Unfortunate, I really would like to see our team play against Bosnian friends, congrats anyways great match.

12

u/Warlord10 Montenegro 2d ago

The missed FTs killed Bosnia, and helped Poland back in the game. That's the game.

Serbia was such a disappointment after nearly beating team USA at the Olympics. No Bogi hurt them badly. He is a beast in FIBA.

5

u/ExtremeProfession Bosnia & Herzegovina 2d ago

Yeah and not scoring off the two steals we made in the final 2 minutes of the game, we just got scared.

Overall a scared game by our PFs, they were afraid to shoot and then with a few dubious calls the opponents get an opportunity to take over.

Shame as we were dominant for most of the game even with phantom fouls called on us.

8

u/Intelligent_Sun2837 2d ago

It’s either Turkey or Germany getting the crown

3

u/SuperSector973 2d ago

BIH played hard, started strong. I thought they would win it but they ran out of steam.

3

u/Athalos124 Greece 2d ago

Good run from Bosnia

3

u/trippy_toads Slovenia 2d ago

all on us and greece eh

3

u/GandraGMC 2d ago

Next time we will fuck them.. it's just eurobasket.. Serbia, Bosnia and Monte Negro are waiting for olimpic and 2027 world 😂.. this was ours C team 😂

u/Aenjeprekemaluci Albania 2d ago

Turkey now wins it i hope!

3

u/TheRedBaron-7 Turkiye 2d ago

disappointed, i always carry the mindset: if its not turkey winning, then it should be serbia greece or bosnia. my biggest wish is a turkey greece matchup now

Since when is Poland good at basketball ?

6

good? no we just have a good moment right now

Serbia loosing against Finland was a disaster, just like an airplane crashing. Everything was supposed to be fine, but wasn't. Too bad, really.

I have many Polish friends, and I rooted for Poland, having spent a year working in Wroclaw. They also deserved to advance to the quarterfinals.

2

u/Zmaj_99 Bosnia & Herzegovina 2d ago
