That was like the 90s and early 00s. Not anymore.

In my country they solve murders, reveal sex scandals, find missing people.

I am serious.

30

u/the-joatmon 1d ago

more interestingly, they solve the cases better than the police as they come to the studio and detain the guys.

In the morning?

38

u/Character_Hamster890 Turkiye 1d ago

Yeah, productivity is better in the morning.

12

u/eferalgan Romania 1d ago

In Romania, in the mornings there are usually news on TV, plus some sort of entertainment like in this Greek example, but nowhere near of this scale

Almost all the Blondies? So much Blondies in one place you cannot see even in Helsinki ...

27

u/Starfalloss Greece 2d ago

Welp with lots of peroxide anything is possible!

22

u/Novel-Mission-1920 1d ago

Statistically 80% of Finns are blonde, but watching Greek TV would make me think 90% of Greeks are blonde lol

u/Beneficial_Iron3508 Turkiye 1d ago

Apparently, this is from 2000s. Fake blonde and blue contact lenses were pretty much every in Turkey around that time.

I was about to say no then it occurred to me that I haven't watched morning show or any morning program airing on domestic tv channels in Serbia for years.

5

u/InkOnTube Europe 2d ago

Žikina Šarenica was running this for years

4

u/BurazengijaTebric Serbia 2d ago

I remember only folklore performances or something like that.

Why all blondes? Inferiority complex?

51

u/LettuceDrzgon Greece 2d ago

This is from the 2000s when we used to have a big inferiority complex over our coloring and blonde hair with blue eyes was being pushed everywhere. My dad has a colleague who had a whole conspiracy theory that they are intentionally pushing news anchors who don’t look Greek. It has died down a bit though. I am out of touch with the tv industry but in real life dark hair is being appreciated again.

u/sjedinjenoStanje 🇺🇸 + 🇭🇷 2d ago

Same in the US: less Britney, more Kardashian.

21

u/LettuceDrzgon Greece 2d ago edited 2d ago

I hate the Kardashians but their global fame did one good thing with the beauty standards in countries like Greece: they ended the super thin and blonde trend. Most Greek women are dark-haired and curvy and they look way better if they don’t mess with it. We used to own a second house before the Greek crisis back in the 2000s and we were renting it to a family whose daughter was a very thin (probably anorexic) fake blonde. I was a child back then and I remember her saying that she was trying to get rid of her butt. It stuck with me because I thought it was weird.

6

u/Suitable-Decision-26 Bulgaria 1d ago

Thank God it is going away, Dark haired Greek women are among the most beautiful around imho. Especially when that "olive skin" comes to the equation, too.

28

u/Starfalloss Greece 2d ago edited 2d ago

This shot is from the late 2000s where it was a trend for practically every woman to dye their hair blonde here lol. But tbh not much has changed as far as Greek TV is concerned.

14

u/Stverghame Serbia 2d ago

I was about to ask if this is from the 2000s, because back then girls here were coloring their hair blond. Now they color it darkest possible black lol

8

u/Starfalloss Greece 2d ago

Yeah idk what it was? Brittney effect? Idk lol but it’s still very common for women to dye their hair blonde here, but many also dye their hair jet black as well unlike say 10 years ago where literally everyone was blonde like in the video lel

6

u/Stverghame Serbia 2d ago

Yeah, probably Britney effect back then, and Kim Kardashian effect now

2

u/Starfalloss Greece 2d ago

LOL so true

7

u/YummyCat49 Montenegro 2d ago

No. But its maybe a little bit weird since the intro is just a small sun moving around famous places

5

u/Starfalloss Greece 2d ago

No offense, but the flair checks out XD

6

u/Tasty-Thanks8802 1d ago

Its similar, the only diference is in my country they use old women , not young and hot .

u/Leading_Visit_5587 1d ago

Yup, same... hahaha

Greek friends, please help me find the name of a Greek singer. He is older, dresses in flashy clothes and sings fairly traditional Greek music I guess. Younger people tends to speak ironically of him mainly because of his flashy clothes. He is appearing in this sort of TV programs

3

u/cosmicdicer Greece 1d ago

Do you mean Floriniotis, he's sadly gone, here one of his famous hits:

https://youtu.be/dqjI7ZrwrYU?si=MonkeLc_iNzmeblW

1

u/eferalgan Romania 1d ago

Is either this guy or someone similar to him. There is another Greek artist similar to Floriniotis?

2

u/cosmicdicer Greece 1d ago

No that I know of, he was one of a kind. Very flamboyant, dressed like a disco ball and that's exactly why he was like a cult figure, mocked and also adored. The song I posted, lyrics goes like "is there a problem that I'm an idol, no there's not"

2

u/eferalgan Romania 1d ago

Thank you! I was playing some online games with some Greek players and some of the characters in the game had flashy, sparkling clothes; and they were saying that looks like this artist. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name of the artist that they were talking about, but they were fairly ironic about him and I was intrigued to search him and see what is all about.

Like I said is either Floriniotis or someone extremely similar (if that exists)

2

u/cosmicdicer Greece 1d ago

If they make again same comment try by typing "pirazei pou ine firma, pirazei?" See what reaction you get

1

u/1024thKilobyte 1d ago

I'm not sure about fairly traditional greek music, but Giorgos Mazonakis kinda fits the bill?

1

u/eferalgan Romania 1d ago

No,this guy is too young. What I was thinking is much older

1

u/eferalgan Romania 1d ago

I think the right answer is Floriniotis

1

u/Starfalloss Greece 1d ago edited 1d ago

I think I know exactly who you’re talking about lol: https://youtu.be/VSQ9aXYB7RI?si=OmErDyjf-LkzjMdB

1

u/eferalgan Romania 1d ago

Not this guy bro. Older, dresses in flashy clothes

1

u/Turbulent-Debate7661 Greece 1d ago

Maybe tonis sfinos?

1

u/eferalgan Romania 1d ago

Floriniotis

1

u/HDKAREKLAS 1d ago

2

u/eferalgan Romania 1d ago

Most probably is Floriniotis

1

u/narisha_dogho Greece 1d ago

Giorgos Magkas? He is a clarinist, not a singer, though. Another one is Floriniotis, but he doesn't sing traditional.

1

u/eferalgan Romania 1d ago

I think it is Floriniotis

3

u/Hephaestus-Gossage 1d ago

It reminds me of one of those czech porn orgy apartment videos I'm absolutely never seen but only heard about.

3

u/StikElLoco Greece 1d ago

200,000 units are ready, with a million more well on the way.

4

u/lajoiedeletre Turkiye 1d ago

There used to be similiar things i think this looks like Seda Sayan's programs lmao. Nowadays as someone else has also said they solve murders on morning television.

6

u/Thalassophoneus Greece 2d ago

Prostitutes...

2

u/SpyrosGatsouli Greece 1d ago

Man that was like 20 years ago! Surely Greek TV has outgrown that phase . /s

2

u/Suitable-Decision-26 Bulgaria 1d ago

I f*ing hate this "PinkTV New Year's Eve Show" format and I am really glad it is not a thing in Bulgaria.

2

u/2000p North Macedonia 1d ago

I genuinely want to know what they are talking about when they have those split screens, and they are all look serious in a debate on a morning show while showing clips of celebrities and singers?

3

u/Aromatic_Wasabi_864 2d ago

sorry man , but fake ass people .

4

u/Turbulent-Debate7661 Greece 1d ago

Who tf is thelksi?

Is this grigoris arnaoutoglou young? Wait is this from 2003?

2

u/0_Camposos 1d ago

Not anymore. This was like 20 years ago fortunately

1

u/Leading_Visit_5587 1d ago

In what sense has it changed?

2

u/SnooPeppers7082 1d ago

Does anyone actually watch this 😳

1

u/mtheofilos Greece 11h ago

This is the end or middle break of the show where someone sings and everyone dances, the actual content is usually gossip and interview of celebrities.

3

u/South-Cantaloupe-814 Sweden 2d ago

So many fake blonde women. Every TV show had at least one blonde woman. I was too young back then and didn't know that people could change their hair color. I thought it was a rule for TV shows to have at least one blonde women and always wandering why my school doesn't have blonde girls.

2

u/Reconquistaaaa Other 2d ago

Greeks be like: We’re not Balkan!1!1! But then also Greeks:

4

u/Starfalloss Greece 1d ago

LMAO Greece is in many ways more “Balkan” than most Balkan countries tbh even if most of us deny it.

Nooo 🤣

1

u/Trumphasaverysmall 1d ago

And all are blond??????

1

u/Substratas Albania 1d ago

Damn this is so ratchet 😂

We used to have singers in the 90s / 2000s who were doing this kind of stuff but not anymore afaik. But this setting was more common in music videos rather than in morning shows. Here’s one. 🤣🤣🤣💀

1

u/ZinbaluPrime Bulgaria 1d ago

I bet the brunette and the redhead feel awkward there.

1

u/YngwieMainstream Romania 1d ago

Day time, hoe time. Night time, hoe time... but also irl.

1

u/tschmar 1d ago

I see this and I dare a Greek to say 'we are only geographically Balkans, but not culturally". For God's sake, just accept it for once.

1

u/ChaosKeeshond Turkey 23h ago

Why are Greeks playing Turkish ass music in the mornings? I love it.

1

u/NonickGG 10h ago

Just Balkan being Balkan...

1

u/Wowstalker3169 1h ago

Exactly the same in Türkiye, now I wonder if we stole the concept from you guys 🤣🤣 basically they're all trashy and loud but God damn it is entertaining

1

u/blumonste Turkiye 2d ago

Not very unlike in Turkey. The audience would be people who are at home and have nothing else to do.

I used to detest this type of TV programming but now I am at peace with it because I know there are people who watch these on TV.

3

u/shm_stan Turkiye 2d ago

There were such programs in 2000s but after economic crisis and AKP went more authoritarian, overall theme changed from fun to drama. There isn't any such joyful programs.

2

u/blumonste Turkiye 2d ago

Müge Anlı's show can be an example? Those weird, creepy shows...

3

u/shm_stan Turkiye 1d ago

Yeah. Happy morning programs are a thing of past rn.

1

u/Yihzok Albania 2d ago

Πάμε πακέτο καλές εποχές

1

u/eferalgan Romania 1d ago

Unfortunately not. This is much better!

1

u/jaleach USA 1d ago

Hmm not quite lol. I wish it was!

There used to be a "fitness show" on ESPN in the mornings for years starting in the 1980s and running through the 1990s. The only fitness the certainly male audience got out of that show is better grip strength. The female fitness models were total smokeshows who engaged in lots of stretching, squatting, etc while wearing bikinis or extremely skin tight spandex shorts and sports bras.

Kiana Tom was the best model hands down. If I remember correctly, she's Chinese-Irish and it really worked out well for her genetically. She's hit the wall a bit now but back then it was probably difficult to find a more exotic looking gal on tv.

1

u/nikolapc North Macedonia 1d ago

You still film on VHS?

1

u/Puzzled_Muzzled Greece 1d ago

No natural blonde was hurt or seen that morning

0

u/ThrowRA_Modernity Cyprus 2d ago

Very interesting to see this 2000’s complex Greece had with looking more “European” after joining the EU and the euro. But then everybody wants to be blonde and blue wide because that’s what we believed Europeans were. Things have changed since then. And not for the better.

0

u/papuci23 1d ago

No, that looks stupid :)) don’t you have other things you should worry about as a country!? It’s a circus in my country also ( Romania) but I don’t know why yours seems weirder. I send all my love to Greece very beautiful country and very gifted population with such a long history.
