I finally got a glimmer of hope in the job search: a response from a recruiter at one of the companies where I applied. It was just a follow-up question, and while there's no guarantee this will go anywhere, I'll take it as a positive sign!

It feels nice having a weekend with absolutely nothing planned. I am up early, with no idea why. I went to bed around 3:30am, so that was about 4 hours of sleep.
I at least let the dogs out, and put their "paw towel" into the washing machine.
I may browse FB Marketplace for a littl bit and then head back to bed.

We went to bed at the same time, but at least I slept until 9:30.
My Uber driver from the airport home last night was sneaky but in a way that I respect. He asked me to check to make sure that the Uber ride had showed as completed. I held up my phone and I asked, "how do I tell?" And he said that it should say that it should ask for my feedback on the ride. It was then that I realized that the screen had changed to where it shows the tip amount. Basically, this guy wanted to make sure that I was choosing the tip amount while he was looking at my phone! Well played, sir!

Ahhh I don't uber/Lyft often, but that would irritate me lol.

The "paw towel" at the door is a must.

Definitely! I have 3 big dogs, and muddy backyard. So I have a while system set up.
I have a towel that runs most of the length of the little "walkway" between my back door and living room door.
After that towel, I also have a dog paw pad, kindof like those super absorbent microfiber bath mats that look like car wash mitts, but for dogs. This catches most of the dirt and wetness.
When it is raining, I add paper towels and close the living room door to temporarily "quarantine" the dogs. As I let each dog back in, I wipe each paw while balancing the dog. 😆

Nice. I have series of mats and the dog knows to stop on the last interior mat when their feet are wet so I can clean them. It's the cutest thing in the world because she's so excited after getting her paws cleaned. Goofy mutt.

Aww that's adorable! My two chocolate labs don't bother with manners lol.
My hound dog? I sometimes call her Missy Elliott because she can't stand the rain. She will let me dry her off entirely.
She only goes out in the rain if I put her rain coat on her. And even then, she sulks like I just put a dunce cap on her.

That's a lab for you. Had one years ago, took a little piece of me with her when she went.

Sorry to hear. It's never easy losing a close friend. And there are no pals quite like labradors! I still have dog-shaped holes in my heart.
I have lost two -- one on New Years morning (unexpected - I thoughthe was just sick). And one 5 days before Christmas (planned, unfortunately).
But they lived to be 17 and 15, respectively, so I feel like they knew they landed in a great adopted home, and they both tried to stay as long as possible.

It was planned but traumatic nonetheless and I was 42. I sat on the floor with them while they got the shot. Cried like a baby. Lost both parents a few years later and didn’t cry until a long time after. Still feel weirdly guilty about that.

Also having a low key weekend, but I slept for 10 hours last night. I needed it.

I was very sleepy last weekend. I think it was a delayed stress response from the August 8 shoot up of CDC.

To me,the best part is the parade. A lot of people go all out with their costumes.

last year i went as a squatting slav and found a group of 30 people in the same red adidas track suit smoking unfiltered cigarettes with shitty gold chains. none of us came to the convention together

Want to go for a long walk/hike somewhere as it feels great outside, but the weather is such a crapshoot this weekend.

u/CricketDrop 3d ago
I've found much of the hysteria my weather app has been pushing lately has not materialized in much actual rain lol
I'm now very skeptical there will be any fun-ruining levels of rain this weekend.

Driving to Lexington, KY today on a whim to support a friend at her roller derby bout. She lives in Philly and has no idea I'm coming 😁 Happy weekend everybody!
