I love listening to biographies on Audible and was wondering if anyone can suggest any good biographies about old Hollywood stars like Carole Lombard, Veronica Lake, etc?
Is there a way for me to share audible with my sister but like not actually have her log into my account so if we are listening to the same book it doesn’t mess up? Kinda like how Netflix made it so people pursued of your household have to have different accounts. Or is it not a thing that I can do?
I got recommended outlander the first book because apparently it's on sale but I own all of the outlander books. When I looked into it it's showing two options and some of them are on pre-order. But I can't tell the difference they look like they're narrated by the same person I'm just confused does anyone have any idea?
Caveat: This worked for me and IDK if it always works.
I wasn't paying attention to my account and it went off "pause" back to active. I had racked up credit. So I chatted with customer service about another pause to catch up. CSR read said no and quoted the "rule" about it.
Based on that, I immediately used all the credits and tried to cancel. Surprise - Then it gave me option to pause membership again.
So if you are stopped from pausing then try canceling and you'll likely get the pause option no matter what the policy says.
I listen to Audible on 2 devices: my Amazon Echo when I'm at home and my phone when I'm driving. For the past couple of months the sync only works one way. The Echo will always sync to the latest stop point regardless of which device it was last played on, but the phone won't sync up if the book was last played on the Echo. Even looking at the listen log, the last stop on the Echo just doesn't show up. This started intermittently but it's almost 100% of the time now.
I've checked sync settings in the app and it's turned on. I can't find any Echo- or Alexa-specific settings for the same thing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the phone app, but I don't think the Echo has apps in the same sense. I've also power cycled the Echo multiple times. Anybody else having a similar experience and have any other things I can try?
My alexa show has suddenly stopped syncing with my phone its really annoying. tried changing the settings and nothing works it always worked fine in the post .
Tried checking for updates on my phone and turning off and on again the sync on my phone
( cant see how you change the settings on the alexa ) . Tried to Google it but not syncing seems a common problem .
I get easily overwhelmed when dealing with technical support issues. The title I purchased with a credit and downloaded has said it is going to be removed on 8/26 for the last month. Today I got a notification that I have 40 hours left to enjoy it and it will be removed from the Audible system. I do have it downloaded, but from everything I can tell they are removing it completely, including from my library.
I would love some help with this and some suggestions. Some people have said that they say that but then I will still be able to access it but they have never seen the notice that I got about having 40 hours left.
I would be so grateful for anybody's experience or advice on this.
I use the Audible app on my Android phone at night before I go to sleep. I put a timer on, so it will turn off automatically. What I've found, though, is that randomly in the night the book will start playing again. Any advice how to keep this from happening? I always lose my place!
I mourn the days when I could use my ipod. Single purpose devices always seem to me to work better than apps on "everything" devices.
I was considering picking up the dramatized version of this book, but the sample has light music playing the whole way through and I'm a bit nervous about that.
Does anyone know if the music continues non-stop through the book? Or does it come and go?
Can I listen to an Audible Plus title on the expiration date? I have title I am listening to that says it’s included until 8/26. Does this mean I can still listen to it on 8/26 and then it is no longer available or is my last day to listen to it on 8/25?
I am in the middle of a book and need to know if I should speed up my listening.
Last year I signed up for the membership deal where I got a credit every month after I started using my membership. Recently fell into hard times financially and wasn’t able to pay for my membership the last two months, but I wasn’t worried because I had 6 credits saved up. I go into my account today to use a credit and suddenly it’s unavailable and I’m forced into paying for a new membership with no additional credits or any promise of receiving the ones I previously accrued. I understand needing a membership to purchase new audiobooks but felt slightly jaded because I had earned these every month I had paid my membership and now it’s suddenly unavailable. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you reach out to support? Were they able to be used after reinstating your account? Just disappointed and looking for answers.
Anyone else no longer have a "Collections" tab? I even searched a specific titles. They show as in my library but no ability to restore or play them. I've archived hundreds and can't access any of them.
Audible gives you the option to download the audiobooks you buy as AAX files, which are unplayable unless you use conversion software like AAX Audio Converter. I personaly like to convert them all to MP3 and use Audacity to split the full audiobook into its chapters, because Audible fails to do that correctly with some books.
When I download audiobooks from my Audible library as AAX files, most of them come in a bit rate of 128Kb/s, and sample rate 44100Hz, which sounds great, but some books come in a bit rate of 64Kb/s and a sample rate of 22050Hz! Why is that? Is Audible being picky about what audiobooks you can have in whatever quality they think you should have?
Now I'm pretty sure that there are some audiobooks on Audible their quality is no higher than 64Kb/s. And you can test this for yourself by listening to the free samples of audiobooks that you don't own in the Audible mobile app (The free samples on the desktop are low quality for some reason). But still, for some weird reason, some of the audiobooks that I buy, that have high-quality sound when listening to the sample, come in 64Kb/s, which sounds like shit when compared side-by-side to the free sample.
The second way to discover the original quality of the audiobooks you own is by using Libation. You connect your account, and in the settings, there are some checkbox options in the Audio File Options to "Use Widevine DRM", "Request xHE-AAC codec", "Request Special Audio", which all seem to work well for downloading my books in M4B format in their highest quality. I got the books I wanted in their highest quality, and I could play them! I really thought I was up to something, and that Libation would solve this problem forever, but when I tried converting the M4B files to MP3, nothing would work. Every conversion software I tried said the files were corrupted, even though I could play them (I use MusicBee for listening to audiobooks on desktop).
So apparently, some audiobooks are only delivered in the highest available quality with special, third-party content protection.
Is there any way to download the audiobooks that I purchased in their highest quality MP3 files so that I can play them separately from Audible?
Notice the difference in sample rate and bit rate of the AAX files i downloaded directly from my audible library
Has anyone else noticed Audible titles disappearing from their library?
Over the past couple of years, I’ve gone back to relisten to some older books, only to find that they’re asking me to buy them again. I have several hundred titles in my account, going all the way back to before Audible even had an app—back when you had to download each MP3 individually.
So far, I’ve noticed this happening with big series like Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and now Ranger’s Apprentice, among others. When I’ve called Audible in the past, they apologized and gave me credits. But now, when I ask, they claim they can’t even find a record that I ever purchased those books in the first place.
Has anyone else run into this issue, or is this just an isolated incident with my account?
