Musicians looking to jam and meet other musicians... Post Here!!! :)

Title says it all. Please use this post to share a quasi profile of yourself. Please include:

*Instruments you play and skill level.

*Samples of stuff you have done like demos, band camp, youtube live shows, etc... The bar is low, just need to show you can play your instrument.

*Area you live in and general availability

*What you are looking to do. Just looking to jam, want to start a band, find mutual gear nerds. Be you and type that down

AND FINALLY, PLEASE NOTE IF YOU HAVE BEEN VACCINATED FROM COVID-19 FOR ALL THE REASONS

If you interested in jamming/collaborating with another musician, please DM them!! Otherwise, I will delete them when I'm bored or when I'm procrastinating from some seriously important life event.

Seeking Artist for Sept 18 Event (Hozier, Sombr, Billie Eilish, Olivia Dean Style Vibes)

Hey y’all — I’m looking for a cover artist (solo or duo) in Austin for a private event on Sept 18. Think Hozier, Sombr, Billie Eilish, Olivia Dean — moody, soulful, alt-pop vibes.

I've seen some great performers on the South Lamar bridge, but I’m open to anyone — just need to see your Instagram to check out your style.

Drop IG handles or DM me if you're available. Appreciate it!

[East Riverside] Drummer seeking band!

Hello my name is Timothy. I’m 35 years old and I would love to find a band and get out there and play.

I’m comfortable with click and backing tracks, open to originals or covers. I’ve played rock, pop, country, blues, Indie, Lofi, metal, reggae & ska, acoustic trio as well as a bit of soul and funk in the past.

If you’ve got something established, or building something from the ground up, send me a link/set list or demo and let’s get something going!

Here’s my first original music release in five years!

Hello friends! After 20 years working day jobs and dreaming about making my living singing songs, I moved to Austin from the northeast in 2021 and I’ve been doing it full-time ever since.

Been gigging so hard (my 900th gig here will come before my fourth Texiversary!) that I haven’t spent anywhere near as much time working on my original music, so this is my first release in five years! It’s a collection of songs spanning my entire writing career, newly imagined and recorded over the past few months. It grabs songs from every album I’ve ever made and a handful that have never been released.

I’m only releasing it at my Bandcamp, not on the streamers, so it can double as a fundraiser for the more professionally produced EP of brand-new material that I’m hoping to release later this year (or early next).

Give it a spin, if you like! I’m awful proud of these tunes and this work and I hope it pleases some of y’all! Let’s all sing some songs together and make some light in this darkness!

Indie rock/jazz/folk singer-songwriter looking for fellow musicians

Hey y'all, I'm a singer-songwriter in my mid-late 30s who's looking to find some musicians to jam, record and perhaps even perform live with. My influences are wide-ranging, but I tend to gravitate towards indie rock, jazz, latin jazz and folk. I'm based in Houston, but I'm in Austin often for work and fun.

Some of my biggest influences are Elliott Smith, Pavement, Nick Drake, Miles Davis, etc.

This weekend I recorded a new demo with the working title "Gilded Moon" -- you can hear it here: https://daylighting.bandcamp.com/track/gilded-moon-demo

If you drum, play bass or any other instruments and this seems up your alley, drop me a line. Cheers!

I want to form a band!

I'm in Lago Vista, so I know that's challenging for a lot of people. But if you listen to some of my recent tracks and like what you hear, are kind of near-ish (or okay not being near-ish) and want to jam, hit me up!

I play guitar mainly, sing and write songs, but if you're a great singer, I'm definitely happy to just play and write. Also can handle my own on bass guitar. Would really love to find a keyboard/synth player who wants to do some big sounds.

Austin Musicians: Beware Peter Moreno of "BigRokStar Productions", "Caribbean Syndicate All-Stars", Steel Power, allegedly Sony // CW: sexual assault

Musicians of Austin, TX - beware Peter Moreno, who has posted on this subreddit seeking musicians. Peter Moreno raped me in 2011 at an interview for a session gig, and is apparently recruiting for a group called "Caribbean Syndicate All-Stars" on Craiglist and Reddit (and perhaps other places online or irl). Apparently he is also going by the name James.

I am sharing this information in hopes of preventing others from being sexually assaulted. If what I have written here sounds familiar, in the past (approx 1 year ago), I warned the Facebook group Musicians Wanted Austin and posted the same warning on my personal page.

I filed a police report regarding this assault - the report number they gave me is 203530730. I will leave the most graphic details out of this post, but I want to make it very clear that in my personal opinion, there is no way a reasonable person could have misinterpreted my complete lack of interest and complete lack of consent. After offering me the job, Peter took my car keys away from me and physically blocked me from leaving. When he started doing sexual things to me I told him no, I don't want to do anything sexual. He continued anyway. I screamed for help and Peter turned the music playing on his TV up super loud. I tried to fight but he had a weapon and threatened me. He told me he wouldn't let me leave until he got what he wanted. Afterward, he still wouldn't give me my keys or let me leave immediately, he begged me over and over (as in 10+ times, no exaggeration) to stay the night with him - as in sleep there, with someone who just assaulted me. I kept repeating that I wanted my keys back and that I wanted to go home. I can only speculate about what would have happened if I hadn't been so stubborn about leaving.

Peter had told me I was interviewing to work with him on a project for Sony Music. If anyone can help put me in touch with an actual human being at Sony Music/Sony Music Entertainment, I would very much like to report this to them. I wouldn't be very surprised if Peter Moreno turns out to not really work with Sony at all though...

During the interview, before the assault, Peter told me he was a songwriter for Rihanna, Katy Perry, Paramore and others. I have some doubts about this, and, if he were actually a songwriter for top 40 artists, why message some 22 year old girl on Facebook with barely any recording experience who wasn't actively looking for a job in music?

Peter did threaten me when he finally let me leave, about if I were to tell anyone about what he did.

Thank you for reading my post. I hope this information prevents others from being sexually assaulted.

PS: facts are not defamation.

I would like to start a band but don’t have much experience and I’m new to town

Hi! I’m a 24 year old woman and I’m moving to Austin this month. I would like to start a rock band and do covers or possibly even write a song. I love to sing! I am also trying to learn bass. I mostly did theatre type performance but it’s always been a dream of mine to sing in a band. If anyone can point me in the right direction of where to find band members I’d be so happy! It wouldn’t need to be super serious. I want to have fun. Thank you! 😊

Intermediate drummer searching for 420 friendly musicians ✌️🤘

Yo what’s up all, I’m new to this format, but so far I’m digging this !

I’m 35m, drumming basically my whole life. I had quit for so many years due to never being able to play gigs on my $$$ making nights behind the bar, but now that I’ve switch to a WFH job, I’m ready to get back on the saddle.

I love playing anything from jam-rock-alt-blues-punk-hip hop. Honestly anything that sounds dope.

Practically id like to meet in more of an improv jam setting and then play me some of your songs and see how we gell. I also have a jam space in cedar park if we need a spot 🤙

Send me some Spotify / YouTube / SoundCloud links 🔗 I’d love to take a listen.

Cheers!

-Ian

Singer/Keys/Bassist looking to join/start band

Hey y'all!

I'm a 23m singer/pianist/bassist (pretty good at singing...passable at piano + bass) that recently moved here to Austin post graduation. At uni I was in a pop-rock cover band as lead vocals/keys and I loved the vibes and would love to join/start a band here in Austin. I love all things rock and would love to do anything from chill stuff to heavier punk, originals or covers. Recently I've been listening to a lot of Death Cab, MCR, Phoenix, and Linkin Park, but honestly would just I'd love to jam with other chill folks and see where the road takes us.

If that sounds up your alley HMU with a DM, would love to meet and jam!

Weird lo-fi rock band looking for bassist, keyboardist, guitarist

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi y'all. Looking for others to join our lo-fi rock band, Psuedo Desnudo. We have a bit of an eclectic sound, at times described as post-punk, jangle, hypnagogic pop, art rock, and no wave, to name a few. We're putting together a live band to promote our eighth album. Here’s some nice things others have written:

"Certainly off-kilter, highly iconoclastic, and beaming with creativity." - Tom Haugen, The Daily Vault

"One of the most compelling artists going right now." - Auxiliary Out

"The outfit here really nailed a priceless vibe [...] one of those that makes you forget time and place." - We Love Lo-Fi

"Supernatural pop that sounds like it's from 1000 years ago, and 1000 ahead [...] If you enjoy the unpredictable genius of DEVO or Ariel Pink you will love this. " - fan review

We have several roles open, specifically looking for a bassist, a keyboardist, and an additional guitarist.

The individual arrangements for these parts aren’t super technical. Many of the songs also have two-part vocals, so ability to do back-up vocals is extra valuable. We have a (excellent) drummer, reliable practice spaces. Please reach out if you’re curious and would like to know more.

Busking soon, any tips? I’m new haha

Hey!! I’m a younger person in the Austin Area, I love to sing and have always wanted to street perform or busk, but I honestly don’t know to much. I have a couple of locations in mind but other than that I’m really unsure about how to go about it. I only have a couple of specific questions but if yall have any tips those would also be WILDLY appreciated!

-when should I ask to busk in/around a space, and how/who should I ask?

-safety tips?

-do you guys change the music you play depending on where you’re playing? Like, music style or artists and such?

Thank yall so much, I appreciate everything!!

Weirdo Seeking Weirdos

New to town and would like to find musicians to play with. Here's the struggle: I like a lot of weird stuff. Like, I want to play music where 80s new wave takes surf out on a date and one thing leads to another and David Bowie shows up and hooo boy is this turning into a menage situation oh snap XTC just walked in oh no now it's a full blown orgy how did all these synthesizers get here? Can we get some more reverb? I'm pretty serious about wanting to write decent songs but I think not taking yourself too seriously is fun too. This is the band I was in before I moved here and it's sort of the kind of thing I want to continue to do: https://pluralsband.bandcamp.com/music Gotta buncha songsa written. I play guitar and keys.

I’m a broke high school student who would like to borrow a marching baritone for a while until I get a job in December. I feel bad asking for this but I really want to do dci next year and I can’t do trombone in dci(it’s stupid I know) I’ll pay you like $50 when I get a job.
