I dont think OP was making this point, because Aang could not have stopped them back then, but it brings up a good one:

Blaming Korra for the villain destroying the previous avatar spirits is somewhat like blaming Aang for the villain destroying the Air nation.

The difference is aang at that point in his arc couldn't have prevented a genocide, his presence wouldnt have changed anything and only had the potential to make things worse. Korra is supposedly a master of all 4 elements by s2 right? She's talked up by her fans as an inherently better avatar right? Her presence could've changed the outcome, to say these are the same is to say Korra couldn't have stopped unavaatu no matter what. Personally I don't blame Korra for the cycle being broken, neither do I blame aang for the genocide of the air temple, I just think they're inherently different. Korra being in the spirit world fighting did have a different outcome than if she wasn't there at all, aang being there wouldn't have stopped the fire nation.
