ATLA This was the cancelled 'Azula betrothal' subplot

u/Migdalian Jul 12 '25
Ozai thought that Kuzon dude looked pretty sharp! 😎
469
u/ObjectiveOk2072 Jul 12 '25
Sharp enough to puncture the hull of an empire-class Fire Nation battleship, leaving thousands to drown at sea...
I SWEAR TO GOD, REDDIT, DON'T BAN ME AGAIN, THIS IS A REFERENCE TO A QUOTE FROM ATLA, I AM NOT THREATENING VIOLENCE!

u/LazyLurker29 Jul 12 '25
Aang can't be held legally responsible for what happens when he's a giant koi fish.
13
u/mjonr3 Jul 13 '25
The avalanche is right there my man
3
u/LazyLurker29 Jul 13 '25
In Avatar that’s probably survivable tbh.
4
u/mjonr3 Jul 13 '25
Even if they survived the avalanche they fell down from a cliff face
3
u/Prolly_a_baguette Jul 15 '25
They ain't dead if we can't see them

u/mjonr3 Jul 15 '25
No the saying is its not a murder if they can't find the body

Are we supposed to offload the moral responsibility of those harmed to the mad ocean spirit? Seemed like Aang wasn't super in control there...
30
u/Ok_Sink5046 Jul 12 '25
The big angry fish moved its arm in a specific location. Anyone in the way only had themselves to blame for illegally being in a separate soverin nations waters.
11
u/FinlandIsForever Jul 12 '25
While actively trying to invade and destroy that sovereign nation. That koi fish and Aang were attacking out of pure self defence
12
u/Ok_Sink5046 Jul 12 '25
OK let's not overextended, the fish wanted blood but we can get Aang off.
14
u/FinlandIsForever Jul 12 '25
Considering the fish is the ocean good fking luck arresting them
8
u/Ok_Sink5046 Jul 12 '25
I would drag you out of any court room while I pose my self defense claim. Although since it is the ocean it could be argued an act from God.
1
u/Field_of_cornucopia Jul 13 '25
Wasn't the whole plot of that episode about the very real threat of the ocean getting arrested?

Reddit is so stupid at times. I got a strike from quoting a book line on that books surreddit. I tried an appeal, and Reddit double downed. It was stupid.
24
u/ObjectiveOk2072 Jul 12 '25
Yeah. I'm lucky my ban was only 2 days, and they repealed it like 20min after I submitted an appeal
14
1
u/longingrustedfurnace Jul 12 '25
It took them three days to figure out that I was quoting a video I linked.
10
u/Tako_ML Jul 12 '25
Me for asking someone “why would you like to have cat ears in real life?” (The person said it without sarcasm, he said it would look “cute”)
8
u/broanoah Jul 12 '25
I got fully banned from tw*tter for posting a screenshot of nick Cage in national treasure 2 saying he’d kidnap the president and captioned it “guys see this and think hell yeah”
6
u/otter_boom Jul 12 '25
I have never been on Twitter, but considering some of the things I have heard that comes from there, that doesn't even make the top one thousand horrible things that people have said.

u/Fallout_4_player Jul 12 '25 edited Jul 12 '25
Tell me about it, someone said they watched the live action show before the animated, a commenter said "that's illegal, straight to jail" I doubled down and said "jails too nice. You know what by firing squad" (REDDIT THIS IS ME REFERENCING A JOKE I PREVIOUSLY MADE AND IT WAS FINE) and i got a warning. Fortunately I was able to appeal it by clarifying that it was meant strictly as a joke and I never intended anyone harm

u/DingoNormal Jul 12 '25
Honestly?, that would be a cool idea, keep the disguise, infiltrate the royal family, take down the Fire Nation inside out
110
Jul 12 '25
or just become part of the fire nation royal family and don’t take it down trust it’s less work
24
u/DingoNormal Jul 12 '25
I mean, that could maybe work

u/SadCrouton Jul 12 '25
“no bro i know that this oppressive conquering regime is bad but im sure we can totally change the machinery of it without any massive political changes”

I’m gonna join the police to change its corruption from the inside!

Aang: I'm going to get married to Azula in my Kuzon disguise!
Katara: So you'll take down the royals from the inside, right?
Aang: 😐
Katara: You'll take them down from the inside, right???
Sokka: Gotta say Aang, I do like secret marriages.

u/DingoNormal Jul 12 '25
Toph: I like this plan

u/lightbluechevy Firebender 🔥 Jul 12 '25
Zuko: Can we please stop talking about my sister's love life?
18
u/MulberryChance54 Jul 12 '25
Sokka: a'ight, then lets talk about your love life. Hows it going with Mai after you locked her up in a prison cell shortly after you dumped her through a letter?
26
u/DrTinyNips Jul 12 '25
Secret marriage, secret marriage, through the mountains, secret secret secret marriage

This is giving "don't stick your dick in crazy" vibes.
If it happened, though, i imagine Azula will be very possessive of Aang. Possibly even going yandere if Aang ever cheats on her.

u/moebelhausmann Jul 12 '25
Judging from Kataras expression, the only way to prevent a war here is to declare polygamy

u/starvinartist Jul 12 '25
That bearded guy, Wang Fire.

u/Apprehensive-Till861 Jul 14 '25
RIP in peace Private Wang Fire, your bravery will not be forgotten.

u/squidward377 Jul 12 '25
Plot twist, he's talking about the OG Kuzan.
1
u/Own-Significance2278 Jul 18 '25
The OG is still alive? I guess Bumi lived that long but still.
1
u/squidward377 Jul 18 '25
Nah I don't think he is, this joke is a failure considering hiw old he would be and Azula's age.

Zuko weighing the odds of either revealing Aang’s identity or watch as his sister married the avatar and wait patiently as they grow up fall in love and have a child and finally found the fire nation was changed from the inside out over the decades.
6
u/ProfessionalOven2311 Jul 13 '25
In general, Aang going in disguise into a Fire Bender training academy would be a fun alternate way for him to learn fire bending. I do think the Jong Jong and Zuko plots are still better, but it could be an interesting 'what if?"
14
u/gar1848 Jul 12 '25

We need to spread the Azulaang gospel to Grey Delisle.
1
u/The-Gamersaurs48 Jul 14 '25
Who did she think Azula should end up with?
3
u/Nanemae Jul 14 '25
Grey Delisle is definitely a character in her own right.
2
u/The-Gamersaurs48 Jul 14 '25
Oh… to be fair, I think that just her twisted sense of humor, but… Oh…

u/Nanemae Jul 14 '25
I do appreciate his response being so measured given that bomb dropped in his lap. His "one more question!?" at the end feels like it came from the heart though!
