I think the main difference is that Aang seems mostly comfortable without a father figure, probably because air nomads didn't have traditional family structures in the first place.

At the very least, he never really latches onto anyone as a mentor/father figure in that way, nor demonstrates any desire to fill that sort of void, past Gyatso's passing. Maybe Roku does that, but then Roku's basically always with Aang anyway, even if he's dead.

Zuko, meanwhile, has Ozai as a father, whom he desperately seeks recognition and validation from and never receives. He's obviously hurting because of it; it's not the same as being an orphan, but he's closer to a Dick Grayson/Jason Todd/etc situation than Aang is, ironically enough. He's probably closest to Cassandra Cain's Batgirl, actually, given the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father's and his training. Besides, you don't need to be an orphan to be Batman's Robin - Tim Drake wasn't (or at least, not at first).

Adoption is still mostly out of the question anyway, though. Batman's not going to adopt Zuko, because if anyone was going to do that, it's going to be Iroh.

When you think about it, most Robins weren't actually orphans. I think Dick was the only one. Tim and Jason only became orphans after they started their respective careers as Robins. Jason technically never became an orphan but he effectively lost both both parents so I'd say it counts. Damien is somewhat of a special case obviously but he definitely isn't an orphan. I know very little about Carrie Kelley, only that her ever being Robin was retconned, so idk if she should count at all.

All that is to say, I think Zuko would qualify just fine. Not while Iroh is around, but if Zuko didn't have a mentor/father figure and was determined to become Robin, Bruce could probably be convinced to take him in and train him. I suspect it might end in disaster though, similarly to what ended up happening with Jason.

That’s why I don’t think it’s fair that people call him a bad father without context. It’s not at all normal for an air bender to raise their own child.

Good meme. That font bugged me. I kept reading “unde” instead of “uncle”

Yea, I've been trying to change the font but sometimes I forget and leave the default on

Damien has both parents.

It's not about number of living parents, it's about who most needs a father to prevent them from turning into Batman.

Batman doesn't need to adopt Damien, he's his biological son

First of all, I hate Damien, second, for the sake of the joke I'm just going with Robyn stereotypes.

Both of Zuko’s parents are alive. He was reunited with his mom.

Is that the TMNT vs Batman figure Batman?

Actually both zuko’s parents are alive. Even if the meeting of Zuko and Batman occurred while Zuko was banished, Batman would find Ursa

Funny, but Damien Cass Duke Stephanie and Tim all had living parents as they were Robins or became robins. The status of some of them changed, granted but being an orphan isn’t a true prerequisite.

In my head cannon, there is a universe where Batman adopts a young Peter Parker right after he got bit by that spider, and we have the greatest superhero duo of all time. No offense to Aang.

Mako and Bo Lin are orphans with good moral compasses. They're my pick for most likely to be robins
