The Virgin "it's not a kids show 😭"

VS

The Chad "It is a kids show and it's damn good 🗿"

I think if someone tried to argue with me about this I'd invite them to touch grass

Just learn the difference between a show watchable for kids and a show only for kids

That's some good advise

My favorite kid shows had adult innuendos that we didn't know about until the streaming platforms came out, and we kids started re-watching our favorite shows from back then.

If I had to bet, most of these arguments stem from some people using "kids show" to mean "a show that kids can watch" and others use it to mean "a show thats only meant for kids to watch". Avatar (and TCW too) is meant for all ages, including kids, but that doesn't mean it can't have some heavier moments or engage its audience on a deeper level

They’re also both primarily intended for kids, which is another thing fans don’t want to admit

Along with the fact that something being mildly deep or scary doesn’t make it suddenly not child-friendly

It’s a kids show. All ages is just more insecurity

Adults are watching it now for the first time and still saying it’s one of the best shows of all time. I think when people say it’s for all ages, they mean it’s not something like SpongeBob or Fairly Odd Parents.

It’s hard to pinpoint. The cast and crew definitely know the people who watch the show nowadays are mostly adults or young adults. That’s why Korra was made a touch more adult and serious.

Plus calling it a “kid’s show” when recommending it to other people will make them think of stuff that is just wacky 24/7 with no actual story. It does deal with plenty of topics that kids won’t understand fully until they’re older, and I think that leaves enough precedence to call it a show for all ages.

I feel this just reinforces stereotypes that never really existed.

Even more, calling it all ages will still give people a false impression of the show.

Ultimately, the only way to understand a series is to watch it yourself.

Ultimately then shouldn’t it be up to the viewers to refer to the show how they want? If an audience member doesn’t see something as a “kid’s show” I don’t think they are obligated to say it.

Especially when it’s classified by the creators as being made for all ages.

I feel like what this meme is referring to is the subsection of fans that exaggerate to try to make things sound more dark and gritty than it actually was in the show. Its a pretty rare type of comment to find these days, but I have seen people before who try way too hard to make Avatar sound edgy or talk about how this wish it was more edgy and violent.

As both a Star Wars fan and an avatar fan, this is way too accurate a portrayal of the fan bases. People have an obsession with making sure people don’t consider things they like as made for kids. Anyone can watch content targeted towards young people, especially with the topics both shows tackle. No reason to be insecure about it.

What?

I love clone wars and I love avatar (and korra)

2

This meme is making fun of people that don't like it when you call A:TLA or SW:TCW kids shows

They're defo both kids shows

Source - watched them as a kid, they aired on kids channels

They're both worth watching as an adult but let's not pretend they're not kids shows lol

"There comes a Thomas the Tank Engine fan with a steel chair!"

1

u/DylenwithanE 7d ago

no fucking way people are saying Thomas isn’t a kids show

1

u/TheGeekKingdom 7d ago

No. Absolutely not. But there are some edgy hedgeys who say it can be "TOo dArK For KiDS" because it's supposed to be super communist/capitalist propaganda, engines are routinely executed for imperfections, or chopped up and Frankensteined for spare parts. Like one theory that Henry was executed for his stint with the tunnel and his failure with the Flying Kipper, and so was chopped up for parts and replaced with a new Henry. There is an image from one of the classic books of a scrapyard of engines looking in horror and terror as humans scrap and tear apart a rusty one in front of them

Idc I really like it:

Why only mention off screen and not the moon dying on screen or any of the just off screen deaths like aang "I don't kill" killing in the northern air temple episode

1

u/TRAcarHess 9d ago

Both shows are super peak but let’s be real, the on screen kill count of clone wars should bar it from being a kids show

The clone wars are general audience way way to many characters die on screen in the clone wars for it to be a kids' show its made for general audiences so a kid and an adult can watch and enjoy.

Found the clone Wars fan

I'm not mad, it's just dumb for people to see a show rated TV-PG and think it's a kids' show because the characters aren't cursing, having implied sex, and there's no blood. It's literally the rating above general audience program, or do people seriously believe the news and the office are kids' shows?

1

u/Tangyhyperspace Firebender 🔥 9d ago

The news and the office don't have Jar Jar Binks

1

u/Kooky-Sector6880 Loyal Buccaneer of the Fith Nation 🌊 9d ago

Jar jar isn't in most of the clone wars beyond a certain point and his last major role was him taking part in the Jedi invasion of dethomir where they effectively massacred the night witches.

3

u/Marik-X-Bakura 9d ago

The primary target audience is children. Kids don’t give a fuck about characters dying on screen, that doesn’t suddenly make it a show for adults. It’s specifically written to appeal to children, and any adults enjoying it is just a bonus.

It's a general-audience program. The goal is to make something that can be watched by all audiences. Otherwise, it would have been rated TV-Y7 and not had nearly as much killing of non-droid characters.

2

u/danfenlon 9d ago

Dude its still a kids show,

The problem is "kids show" can mean anywhere from dora the explorer to samurai jack,

Meanwhile anime and manga have genre specific terms for it's demographics,

Clone wars and avatar would be shonen

3

u/SniperMaskSociety 9d ago

No, it's a kids show and that's okay
