I will never get over the loss of all the previous avatars, it infuriates me to no end cause that's one of the most interesting things about being the avatar and now the only avatar contactable is one we already know
Which is even more compounded by the fact that Korra actively ignored previous avatars so her only wisdom would be: "winging it, that's what I did!"...super helpful Korra >_>
Well sure....EVERY character in fiction is an extension of atleast 1 writer, it's not like Korra sat in her trailer because she had issues with the bad dialogue because she isnt real, characters are an extension of the writers, bad writers = bad characters, blaming the writers = blaming the characters.
I like to imagine Sokka in his trailer writing 60 puns and 10 extra romance scenes with Suki and the writers having to cut down a lot of his suggestions lmao
Not exactly. Do you remember, or even know about, Jar Jar Binks? People hated the character so badly that the actor nearly committed suicide. Shitting on the characters IS one thing, and saying that the writers are shit and fucked up the character IS another thing
Real actor vs animated character. Maybe if people went after the voice actress there would be a case, but people hate the character and the writer for the character. Pretty sure no reasonable or sane person is going to hate the voice actress unless they just dislike the voice inflection or something.
Sorry, but do you really think want to compare that??? Like wtf, at least try to be reasonable. It’s not like people looked up her voice actress and invaded her home. It’s just some animated character with no soul or anything
No one os hating on Korra's voice actress. Things like this have happened of course, people sent death threats to Laura Bailey due to her role in the Last of Us 2. Obviously that is very wrong.
But here's the thing, nobody is mad at Korra because they think the actress did a bad job playing her, they simply don't like how she was written. So, the people at fault ARE the writers.
And it is always fine to criticise the writers or anyone if you think their work wasn't great, but there is a clear line between saying you don't like the work of someone and then bullying them.
With Star Wars, plenty of people blamed George Lucas because it was clearly his fault. Bullying him isn't right, but not liking the films is okay. But the bullying of Jar Jar's actor wasn't nice, he played the role exactly how he was supposed too, unfortunately it was a badly written character. Same with Jake Loyd.
TLDR: It is okay to criticise anyone for their work, but it isn't okay to bully them.
They went BEYOND the character, jar jar is a character that deserves criticism as George Lucas and his writing staff wrote the character poorly, not the actor who played him, I'm not criticizing the VA who played Korra, I'm criticizing the character Korra who was written by writers not Janet Varney...i think youre confusing actors and characters, korra is written by writers and all of her actions are determined by writers, just like my previous comment, bad writers = bad characters and blaming the character = blaming the writers
