This one is unironically true tho. The one thing Iroh is just wrong about. I keep trying all sorts of different teas, hoping one will taste somewhat good, but NO, they all taste like leaves! I feel left out constantly, but I just can't stand the leaf water everyone seems to love
You have to get some proper tea. Make sure it's not too fresh, not too old. Then steep it for the right amount of time in the right amount of water.
Sounds terribly finicky when I write it all out like that, but it's pretty easy once you have it down, and it takes just a couple minutes.
If you order from any reputable tea vendor, they'll give you instructions for the particular tea you're buying. Then you just need a hot-water kettle that lets you dial in the temperature, and a scale so you can measure your tea-to-water ratio. Heat the water, weight out 3 grams of tea leaves (or whatever), pour in 100 mL of water, steep for 1-2 minutes, et voila: Grade A hot leaf juice.
If you're just buying tea from the local grocery store, then, yeah, it's going to be a pretty rough experience. All those teas are from dubious farms that are largely focused on producing quantity, not quality. And the tea is probably stale by the time it gets to you, too.
Maybe I’ve grown accustomed to the taste of tea since I started drinking tea before coffee, but I prefer it over coffee taste wise, but that’s personal preference
