Leak/Rumor Didn't expect to be vindicated this soon lol

I’m definitely happy to get semi-confirmation that Jae is gay(hopefully this doesn’t get censored). The only male gay characters I can think of in the franchise is two of Yangchen’s adult companions, but unfortunately the books never page real estate to give them that much spotlight. So it’s nice to get some more representation on that front.
Two other interesting things of note:
1) Jae is going to be around 16-20 years old, which assuming Korra died in the cataclysm and nothing paused the Avatar Cycle means that Jae was around 8-12 years old when the cataclysm happened. I’ll be interested to see how this plays into his character and if we’ll get a backstory episode for him.
2) Him being part of an elite task force(almost definitely the White Lotus), developing a rebellious side through his interactions with Pavi and Nisha, and being forced to question his black and white morality is all leaning towards my theory that the White Lotus are going to be really shady and potentially even twist villains in this new era who want to manipulate the Avatar into being their puppet. Not at all confirmation of course, but it does get me excited over the possibility of Jae having an arc where he starts off as a naively loyal member of the White Lotus and their original ideals, only to slowly uncover and having to confront the shadier elements of the modern Lotus leadership before finally choosing to go rogue and choosing to protect Pavi and Nisha over his obligations and loyalty to the White Lotus.

Im a bit sad
Not because there are Gay Characters
I absolutely expected that
I just don't like it when a Character beeing gay is the first thing I learn about a Character ... especially when the Show is still in production and we basically know nothing about the Story yet
which ... was it even necessary to include that part of his Character in the description? Its probably not a Factor that will play a massive role in the Story. Its certainly a factor - but not Soo big it needs to be included in the casting Sheet.
Also
I kinda doubt JAE will go on a Date in the first Season ... which YES ! - I want to see an actual Date with Characters in a Relationship.
This would be soo much Fun ... in theory at least!

The reason why it's mentioned the character is gay (or bi) has nothing to do with informing us the audience, since it's a call sheet for actors. It's to make sure the actors who will apply will be okay with voicing a gay character. Some people wouldn't want to lend their voice to anything LGBTQ+ related. They probably want to avoid the actor they hired to drop out out of the project last minute when they find out, which might happen with some bigoted people in the current political climate. You want someone who is totally fine with it from the very start.
I don't think it's meant to make it Jae's principal trait.

I just think the 1. Season will focus mainly on the World and Jaes Relationship with the Twins.
But I want to see that the Romantic Relationship

Awesome! Good to have a male gay representation beside the Yangchen gay men couple . Itll be nice to have an on - screen (and maybe he'll have a romantic interest in the show)

Let‘s wait and See if they can actually do this. With the current regime in the US steering towards proto-fascism, it’s not clear if Avatar Studios won‘t be pressured into submission to scrap any gay content in this show. Especially since it’s a „Kids show“

Yeah but part of that was because of their merger that they didn't want to get denied. It just went through. Not saying they won't backtrack here, but would prob generate the least controversy this way

I dunno man. Sure it makes them less vulnerable than the time they had the merger, but all the regime has to do is sue them for another bogus reason, or Even just threaten them to do so to put pressure on them. And since Paramount was already forced to pay them millions of Dollars, they will probably Cave in before it comes that far. Simply to prevent having to pay Money again…

This stuff was already greenlit and in production well before trump stepped into office again. This was years ago. It's far too late to be removing story beats like that this late into production.

I dunno, I think we're pretty much there already. A President ruling by decree, including things that are purportedly under the legislature's purview; militarized police forces being turned on the population with no real justification and getting brutal over minor infractions; collaboration between big business and the federal government, with the President calling the shots on business decisions; extreme levels of nationalism and brutal violence against "outsiders"; glorification of the military via parades; a cult of personality around the President; media bending the knee to the government; opposition voices being surpressed...
Think people need to accept that we're no longer "veering towards" fascism; we're here.

It's a call sheet for actors, and since they're in the recruiting stage only some names have been changed to preserve secrecy. Jae became Jin, Nisha became Nikki. This is just some minor change to keep people from knowing the real names until official promo.
