Just finished The Last Air Bender!
I loved it so much, binged it in 3 days and loved every second of it. I wish I watched it back when it first aired on Nickelodeon. But I do have a question, should I watch Legend of Korra or not? I remember the show being controversial and hated when it first came out but I’m unsure if the perception of the show has changed. Also if anyone has a 1/12 scale figure recommendation for Aang it would be appreciated!

Yes it’s definitely worth the watch. Just don’t go into it expecting ATLA 2.0 (that was probably one of the reasons the show didn’t get the best reception when it first debuted, and either way opinions of it have gotten more favorable over the years).

Good to know thank you, unfortunately I just checked and found out it was removed from Netflix back in April and I unfortunately don’t have Paramount+.

Korra is good - not great. Has its great moments and its bad moments. Go in with measured expectations. It's worth the watch if you want to see the rest of the lore in the universe. Then I highly recommend the novels about Avatar Kyoshi

The show is hated because it retcons the lore, handles the returning characters from ATLA poorly, and bending feels weaker in it.
It’s loved because it’s protagonist is very relatable, the side characters are fun, the villains are intimidating, and the plot is engaging.
In short, it’s a good show but a bad sequel.

Good to know, thank you, will still give it a watch when I find a place where I can.

Manage your expectations accordingly.
It's a good standalone show, but it does not live up to the original ATLA.
I would wait a few months before you watch LOK. It will give you time to digest and enjoy the memories of ATLA.

Ok thank you, will wait a little bit to watch it. Hopefully then I will appreciate it more as I won’t be on the ATLA high.

Watch Korra then read the Roku, Yangchen and Kioshi books. Really good and tons of lore.

Korra is worth it, first season is a little rough. Second season is a little better but still kind of rough.
Third season is one of the best seasons of television you will ever watch
Fourth season is not as great as third but fairly memorable with a great villain imo

Watch it but you need a palette cleanser first, like some mint ice cream, or Blue Eye Samurai.

For me, I was very hung up on legend of Korra that everything was industrial and what I loved about avatar was that there was so much nature imagery

I bet I might feel the same way, but I will try to justify it as there being such a big time gap and time of peace to allow for industrial expansion and technological advancement.

You should definitely watch it. The hate is artificial and forced. The Legend of Korra is a great show and it enriched the worldbuilding and the franchise so much
