Verrati and Coutinho sagas we're spread over different years. Verratti's Barcelona saga started in 2016, peaked in 2017, but PSG refused to sell. Coutinho's began mid-2017, with multiple bids rejected before he finally transferred in January 2018.

Nah. Nico Williams straight up pretended to want to join us for 2 years just to get a bigger contract at Bilbao. I believe Verratti was on the verge of leaving PSG and Barca were interested on a free transfer but obviously it never happened

No. As far as I remember, psg (khelafi) didn't wanna let him go, especially to barca. And barca ended up signing coutinho, thus ending his pursuit

It was in the same summer that they bought Neymar from us. We went from thinking we’d get Verratti to him staying because PSG wouldn’t sell and then losing Neymar shortly after

Yeah I remember that. When he was leaving PSG in 2023, I believe there were rumors of Barca being interested in him but PSG weren’t willing to do business with Barca. I think those rumors were short-lived though

I thought the alternative signing for Veratti was Arthur Melo? Barça was also interested in signing Jean Michael Seri during that time. Coutinho was just the Iniesta "replacement"
