No-no. He used Beast Boy’s image to say that you can cure Parkinsons with magic crystals and shit.

1

u/BbBTripl3 R.I.P Kevin Conroy 6h ago

True he's a delusional moron like anyone else who thinks that shit.

u/Ordinary_Law_2456 1d ago

Bearing in mind that he went on Twitter and ranted about how Bill Gates used Chemtrails to give him Parkinson’s using Beast Boy’s face I think there’s definitely a reason to fire him, whether or not you think it’s justified

u/death2sanity 22h ago

I learned after an earlier voice actor sob story to wait and hear what (Paul Harvey voice) the REST of the story was.

Oof

58

u/Shady_Tradesman 17h ago

Bayonettas voice actor taught me that lesson

20

u/death2sanity 17h ago

That’s the one, yup.

12

u/FlameF19 17h ago

Attention all Bayonutters

2

u/Fit-Cucumber1171 7h ago

Her voice was soo iconic. That situation was a travesty 😭

8

u/Thea-the-Phoenix 14h ago

I somehow never heard that story. What happened there?

6

u/theattack_helicopter 11h ago

Learned from vic mignonga (broly, Rohan kishibe, Ed elric) to wait for more information before saying one way or another

1

u/Maleficent-Rate5045 4h ago

What happened with Vic?

10

u/suddenandsevere 19h ago

yeah that’ll do it

51

u/Hoister_Lec 1d ago

Yikes, yeah, definitely thoughts that will get him aslumed but shouldn't have cost him his job.

109

u/death2sanity 22h ago

Nah, that’s job-loseable levels, if he’s posting this insanity attached to a picture of the character.

69

u/TheNerdWonder 21h ago

I mean he’s also been reposting stuff like this that is insensitive and conspiratorial. There are real genocides happening in the world and people like him grossly trivialize it to benefit an agenda that absolutely has gotten people killed.

-46

u/Hoister_Lec 21h ago

I mean, if Tom Kenny got to keep his career voicing SpongeBob after this SNL skit, then I think Beast Boy deserves a little more forgiveness. Art ≠ Artist. His coo-coo-bananas ideals aside, it seems harsh.

28

u/PlumRelative4399 21h ago

You can’t be spouting views like this while representing the most popular kids show on the planet. It’s absolutely fair to fire him and recast.

21

u/raulpe 18h ago

How you can think that is comparable ??? Are you stupid ?

-8

u/Hoister_Lec 15h ago

Uh oh aslumed myself

38

u/Spongeanater 21h ago

Except that SNL skit is funny and highlights the warmongering US military complex

9

u/ThatOtherGuyTPM Arkham Knight 20h ago

It definitely should.

I’m starting to think Kevin Levin is a lost cause.

The Mans desperate your mind goes to these places. He just wants someone to blame

u/DaHyro 1d ago

I don’t wanna stick up for the corporation, but he never actually says WHY he was fired. There’s more to this story than what we know here, they couldn’t just fire him without reason.

186

u/Frank_Gomez_ Miles, we are in a userflair now 1d ago

Literally. After the whole shit show with Bayonetta's original voice actress, i'd rather wait for the full picture to come out before talking shit about a certain situation.

37

u/Prudent_Knowledge79 1d ago

OOTL. What happened with bayonet voice actress?

159

u/Frank_Gomez_ Miles, we are in a userflair now 1d ago

It was like 2-3 years ago so my recollection of the news isn't 100% accurate:

  1. Hellena Taylor, the VA for Bayonetta in the first 2 games, came out with the video a bit before the release of Bayonetta 3, saying that she had been offered $4000 to do BY3 and she did not like this, therefore she urged people to boycott the game.

  2. Jason Schreier, a journalist with valid credentials and credibility, came out with a report that the people behind BY3 had actually offered her around $15000, which is WAY more than other union actors get. I think they offered her a standard rate AFTER she declined their offer, but only as a cameo.

  3. Hellena admitted to leaving those "small details" out of her original video; Hideki Kamiya found this “untrue, sad and deplorable”.

  4. Hideki, the dev team and Jennifer Hale, the voice actress they got to replace Hellena, had been harassed online nonstop for days/weeks after Hellena's video, so they weren't exactly pleased.

  5. Other VAs were VERY pissed off since Hellena was getting paid very well for her work and still wanted more, and now that she was caught lying about it, she basically "set back" a lot of the work other voice actors had done for fair compensation practices in the industry.

  6. Obviously fans were not happy about being manipulated and well you can guess what goes after.

59

u/FunComfortable3035 1d ago

The bayonetta actress said they left the role because they were offered 4000 dollars as pay for a cameo appearance, which obviously is a bit low for one of their biggest roles, and a cameo in her own game? fans initially rallied behind her but they noticed she was acting a bit weird when asked certain questions that a conservative would act weird about, not that it mattered in the moment, the more important thing was highlighting the low pay of VA work in these days.

Later, Platinum Games, the devs of Bayonetta, would say that the role was initially for TEN THOUSAND dollars which later got bumped up to FIFTEEN THOUSAND. Not quite the dire numbers painted by the actress. The cameo money was because she REFUSED the initial offer.

People then turned on her and noted that her tweets were really very weird and did not paint her in a good light, to put it lightly (pun intended).

I also just wanna point out this is the second time (to my knowledge) a franchise by Hideki Kamiya had the main actor go apeshit and get fired because of it (the other time being Dantes actor going insane about Anti-vaxx and stuff, thats why he was voiced by Nero in the anime.)

20

u/FunComfortable3035 1d ago

I should also mention that the actress also corroborated the statements made by Platinum Games, which is how we know its true

10

u/Frikcha 1d ago

Reuben Langdon didn't get fired, he was doing crazy conspiracy stuff before DMC5 and they kept him on anyway. He is still doing crazy conspiracy stuff and he will probably remain as Dante for DMC6, same way he reprised his role in a very recent official collab.

Ppl assume being a space-hippie conspiracy theorist automatically makes you incapable of doing your job, I assume Rueben has never stepped on anyone's toes with his beliefs which is why he gets the best of both worlds being a tin-foil hat guy and also the mocap/voice-actor for THE COOLEST character in all of video games.

Moral of the story is being a normal, sensible person while still having confidence in ur insane sci-fi beliefs actually /=/ (does not equal) weirdo, it equals the guy who has probably been diligently delivering ur mail for the last 10 years.

6

u/FunComfortable3035 1d ago

He was still fired off of Kens voice from SF6, it kinda stands to reason that would spread to his other works in the same company

1

u/OfficialBenReilly 1d ago

I wondered why they had Nero’s VA voice Dante in the anime. Made me sad when I first found that out as it made me think they weren’t going to put Nero in the anime ever (don’t know why, since they could just use a different VA if they wanted Nero in the anime). If they make DMC 6 (not holding my breath) I hope Dante isn’t voiced by Nero’s VA. I could get past it in the anime, but Dante’s sounding like Nero in the game would just sound wrong, especially if they also have Nero in the game. I would prefer Nero be the only character playable in the main story over that (I really like Nero). The perfect solution would be to get a new VA for Dante that isn’t Nero’s VA (especially if that means Nero gets a new VA due to him losing his old VA. I need Dante to sound like Ichigo)

u/GuthukYoutube 1d ago

"They fired me literally the day after I announced I had parkinsons"

That sounds... too conveniently evil of them. It trips my "hmmmm" sensor when someone frames something as TOO perfectly evil of the opposition.

73

u/shayed154 Custom (Nothing Inappropriate) 1d ago

It's probably has something to do with stuff like this

Bad publicity is the best way to get fired

22

u/Paxxlee 1d ago

Oh, oh...

I wonder if he has other opinions that may have contributed to his firing, things that hasn't come out to the public yet.

81

u/WRabbit737 1d ago

Or they could fire him because of this and make up another reason I’ve heard of cases like that before and they get sued if they get caught for it but they don’t always get caught and it’s the individuals word against the company’s.

62

u/DaHyro 1d ago

The fact that he never outright says any reason for his firing is a little suspicious, but yeah, you’re right as well

25

u/WRabbit737 1d ago

Yea I’ll give you that it is a little suspicious he didn’t give their reasoning or a counter we should wait and see if there’s more that comes out later since the company may make a statement and he may make a follow up at some point.

8

u/Past-Management-9669 1d ago

Probably NDA even if the internet loves vigilante stories of sticking it up to the man an NDA is gonna fuck you hard. So probably he gotta good package going on after he was fired and signed an NDA or an ongoing NDA about not speaking about the company.

7

u/SpellAccomplished653 yeah...i'm Man 1d ago

If the state he’s considered employed in is an “at will employment” state they legally aren’t required to give a reason. The only thing that could make this an unlawful firing is if it was for an illegal reason like the Parkinson’s.

2

u/caninehat 1d ago

He does have all that natural medicine anti-vax shit he’s been spouting.

1

u/Equal-Ad-2710 19h ago

Especially since none of the other cast have commented on this despite working with him for 20 years

I know Greg Cipes has had a history of controversial Anti-Vaxx and pro-NFT statements, but even so wouldn't WB have also fired Tara Strong who has had WAY more controversial opinions beyond that? Assuming everyone here is telling the truth, it’s such an odd and evil thing to do, even for WB.

192

u/LADYBIRD_HILL 1d ago

Cipes believes that chemtrails caused Covid and is what gave him Parkinson's.

Fuck WB in general for their shitty decisions but it's possible there's more going on here than what he's letting on.

57

u/SuccSorcerer42069 1d ago

The difference is licking Netenyahu's ass is the CORRECT despicable opinion to have, according to the establishment capitalist class.

12

u/Phantom_Phoenix1 🦇I didnt ask for your opinion 1d ago

Is that what Tara did

36

u/SuccSorcerer42069 1d ago

Yeah, she's one of the louder propaganda pushers.

4

u/PlumRelative4399 21h ago

Tara Strong is really only controversial because she supports Israel which in the entertainment industry is the “right” opinion to have.

41

u/SleepinwithFishes 1d ago

Uuummm... I don't want to sound like I bootlick corpos... But I'm guessing he got fired because he posts conspiracy theories while having Beastboy as his profile.

42

u/HawasYT What are you doing? ⚖️🎲 1d ago edited 1d ago

Well, if being an antivaxxer isn't enough to get the head of US health department fired then I don't think it's gonna help WB in the wrongful termination case

18

u/StonedSpawn Two Guns bitch! 1d ago

I mean, it’s not going to help them but I really doubt that the U.S government (especially in its current state) is going to care about what happens to the Beast Boy voice actor…

2

u/HawasYT What are you doing? ⚖️🎲 1d ago

Tbh I could actually see current administration taking him in as a martyr, fired by the "liberal Hollywood" over "not following woke agenda" as a way of sticking it to the studios. Greg Cipes wouldn't even have to be antivaxxer consipiracy theorist (which I won't say one way or the other as I don't know)

But whether they would or not, it doesn't stop the VA from suing WB in a civil case, as wrongful termination suits don't fall under penal code

11

u/AbbreviationsKey8163 1d ago

Doubt it, Tara strong was not fired at the Time of this comment and she also had various harmfull opinions.

1

u/Lazy-Excitement-3661 1d ago

What about Tara Strong tho

15

u/Bingler223 1d ago

While I love his beast boy, him being an anti-vaxxer is probably what got him fired i doubt they would risk firing him over Parkinsons and have to deal with the PR nightmare that is. Like most anti-vaxxers he's probably playing the victim here. I lost a family member to Parkinsons and to use that as a way to spread anti-vax bullshit is disgusting so I have no remorse for the guy.

22

u/FleurTheAbductor 1d ago

probably cause he's a dipshit conspiracy theorist that spreads harmful misinformation is the most likely reason for his firing

-18

u/buzz3456 1d ago

Not really. It's not harmful to think like that and literally he ain't spreading stuff to kids or the DC brand. So I don't think it was his takes on COVID or the government, cause if that's the case a lot of celebs would be fired by now lol

16

u/TySly5v R.I.P Skedetcher 1d ago

He uses pictures of Beast Boy to tell people not to get vaccines and to cure your diseases with meditation and herb bathes. This is directly harmful.

9

u/Bingler223 1d ago

Except for it is quite harmful to spread misinformation about medicine that saves lives. Anyone who has a platform and uses it to spread this gross shit should be fired.

7

u/FleurTheAbductor 1d ago

not defending WB ofc they suck balls and would absolutely fire somebody over something like that, but It's just what I think

9

u/A1phan00d1e 1d ago

This sounds like the plot of a ttg valentines day episode with how cartoonishly evil this is

11

u/cshin09 1d ago

In Ben Ten, the Bully Cash Murray was named after Sam Register. Guess now we know why.

6

u/ImperialSattech 19h ago

Important context is missing, he's using Beast Boy as his PFP while claiming dangerous pseudoscience such as his parkinsons being caused by vaccines and chemtrails, or claiming he can use magic crystals to cure himself.

5

u/AccidentSalt5005 JERKS OFF WITH THERMAL PASTE HOT & SPICY FLAVOUR 1d ago

wtf?

4

u/taxpayingcivillian 14h ago

Don’t want to defend WB or Zaslav, but he was probably fired for being the face of a children’s TV show while simultaneously proclaiming all modern medicine is poison and that drinking your own urine and fasting are the only cures to diseases.

3

u/Bilbo_McKitteh 1d ago

maybe using beast boy as a way to promote his crazy anti-vax views is part of it

3

u/PuzzleheadedTower460 23h ago

They fired him, because he is stupid.

3

u/aninsomniac_ Alsume Inmate 19h ago

He posted conspiracy theory and science denial while using the face of WB's character

3

u/KorrokHidan 17h ago

Can we stop promoting this misinfo? He got fired for using the Beast Boy image to spread the lie that Bill Gates gave him Parkinson’s through COVID and that Parkinson’s can be cured with magic crystals and shit

2

u/Count_Avila Arkham Origins 1d ago

Sick the Aslum on them

2

u/AbbreviationsKey8163 1d ago

Sam register, Michael ouweelen and David Zaslav sure aré pieces of shit

2

u/Caxcrop 1d ago

I really really hate to try and play devil’s advocate here, but I wonder what Sam Register’s reason for this is. I can’t imagine it was purely due to Parkinson’s, so long as he can maintain his voice acting ability, right? Not to mention it was probably planned since before the announcement? Is it an insurance thing? The more I try to wrap my head around it, the harder it gets. He’s by all means Beast Boy, so I’m wondering what could have spurred this decision?

2

u/Rocket_SixtyNine 1d ago

That is insane like wtf

2

u/bubby56789 1d ago

Nah, it’s probably cause he’s a massive anti-vaxxer and Covid denier.

2

u/Iwanturnuggets 10h ago

Geuninue Mr Burns behaviour

6

u/L0ll0ll7lStudios 1d ago

WB have always been stupid and awful. Just been more noticeable in the past nine years.

6

u/AlbertWessJess 1d ago

I legit think it’s an inside job at this point, they’re clearly trying to kill their entire animation… EVERYTHING and kill off any and all IPs they have. Like what the fuck? It’s insane

2

u/Emergency_Law_1857 1d ago

Every tree will always have some rotten apples, but WB has been doing such big mistakes in the last years that is almost as if someone was sabotaging them from the inside.

4

u/AlbertWessJess 1d ago

Does it even affect his ability to do voice acting? What the fuck? Even if it did, It’s still shitty to immediately fire him like holy shit. Do they not know they can get sued? “Ah yes, let’s get rid of an asset that’s well beloved by our consumers, has a long time working relationship most likely with many of our other workers, cause an instant loss of millions in the courts, well before the disease would even have a chance to make them less capable of earning us money! Why? WE FUCKING HATE PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES RAGGHHHHHHHHH”

5

u/PlantsNBugs23 The 1d ago

It doesn't affect his ability to voice act afaik

4

u/AlbertWessJess 1d ago

Idk what it even does so I looked it up, it’s a moving around thing. The most they’d have to do is probably hire him a physical therapist maybe or give him easier to work with schedules, like what in the actual fuck

8

u/HawasYT What are you doing? ⚖️🎲 1d ago edited 1d ago

Does it even affect his ability to do voice acting?

Well, it generally impacts your ability to control muscles, including facial and possibly vocal ones. However it didn't stop Michael J. Fox from acting in shows like Good Wife. And in Good Wife it was a full live action performance which is generally more physically demanding than doing voice acting.

I'm no expert but sounds to me like they might as well fire the rest of the cast too cause they aged and that has similar impact on vocal performance as early stages of Parkinsons

6

u/LongjumpingSector687 1d ago

Tbf MJ Fox did quit live action roles for about 8 years because of Parkinsons

3

u/HawasYT What are you doing? ⚖️🎲 1d ago

True but then again 1) it was life action roles and 2) it was his decision, he wasn't being fired

1

u/imdwalrus 1d ago

However it didn't stop Michael J. Fox from acting in shows like Good Wife

Yes - as a character with a neurological condition. His character was specifically written with his Parkinson's in mind. And he never appeared in more than a third of a season's episodes, and frequently had gaps of months between his appearances to make the workload as easy as possible for him.

I'm no expert but sounds to me like they might as well fire the rest of the cast too cause they aged and that has similar impact on vocal performance as early stages of Parkinsons

You cannot make that claim if you're not an expert. You don't know anything about the severity of Cipes' Parkinson's or how it manifests.

2

u/LongjumpingSector687 1d ago

I mean eventually but they have ai correction now for people, like they did for Val Kilmer in Top Gun 2.

1

u/thedovahcum 1d ago

Voice actors cannot have studders in their speech...why the fuck am I the only person NOT shocked by this decision?

1

u/HawasYT What are you doing? ⚖️🎲 1d ago

Me binging a lot of Suits recently might be showing but that sounds like a slum dunk case of wrongful termination which should net Greg Cipes a nice settlement payout. WB would have to assemble the Avengers Justice Injustice League of slimey lawyers to even the odds - I'm talking at least 10 times as slimey as the attorney arguing the case of wrongful death after a woman died of peanut allergy at a Disneyland restaurant should be dismissed because the husband signed up for free Disney+ trial and the ToS for it said they agreed to waive their right to sue Disney outside of small claims court or whatever.

1

u/CharacterMulberry156 1d ago

At least they might finally cancel TTG now

3

u/Maggot-Boy2006 1d ago

They'll probably just replace Beastboy's VA. They won't let their money cow get turned into a burger just yet.

0

u/Farcryfan15 R.I.P Skedetcher 1d ago

I think at this point it would be in the best interest of DC to break off from WB and do they’re things independent because as it stands right now…the executives in charge are more interested in the money of fans rather then the success their projects.

1

u/Bingler223 1d ago

Well thats not really possible because DC is kinda owned by WB like completely its technically a branch within Warner bros.

0

u/biggie_way_smaller 1d ago

no one's gonna replace him because if someone does, the entire team and fans gonna know he was the guy who replaced the previous guy who got fired from having parkinson
