No, it's not cartoony, but it's the combination of so many rare qualities of the character in this era (gender, costume, weapon, face paint, amputee, prosthetic) that make the character feel like a trope. I could roll with it if she was wearing some era-appropriate uniform (or spy clothes or whatever) and lost the face paint.
My bet is that this is some throwaway singleplayer campaign character who fits into the lame, Hollywood story they're writing. I don't give a shit, as long as the multiplayer is Battlefield and the vibe is right, I can see this game being really strong (focus hard on those moments of 'gameplay' in the trailer, if you take each moment separately it looks pretty dope).
You mean the cutscene? I don't know. People judge too quickly. Maybe it was the coop mode? Maybe it was just nothing? Everyone should calm the fuck down and wait till e3
