The toothpaste part doesn't seem made-up to me, precisely because it's such a simple task. I could see a butler going into the bathroom each morning to check supplies and prepping a toothbrush while he's there. Just squeeze it out and set it down. When a royal butler's job is to anticipate the king's every need, I don't know why they'd draw the line at a menial 10 second task.
Related, a family friend guarded Air Force One overnight. Bush goes down the line shaking hands w/ airmen thanking them.
Family friend asks for an autograph. Bush raises his hand up by his ear. The moment the hand hits the top a pen w/ cap removed is in his hand. Bam that fast.
Well the implication is not that it's done in front of him.
It is done invisibly so that when he steps into the bathroom everything is already arranged for his royal ass so he wouldn't be inconvenienced in any way.
Apparently these incidents (the toothbrush and the waste bin) happened when Charles had an injury to his dominant hand/arm and was in a sling. I think it was a polo accident, which is upper-crusty in itself, but not exactly that unusual. When I broke my dominant arm, I had to have my husband help me with everything, including dressing and brushing my hair.
