For real. people are working 3 jobs to afford ramen and I’m supposed to feel sorry for a guy eating caviar off the back of a platypus with a diamond spoon… because he has to shake hands with other wealthy people for his job? Big fuckin boo hoo

That is not nearly all there is to it. You may be rich, but your time no longer belongs to you. Good bye gaming. Goodbye driving where you want. Your entire life is now on display forever and you can no longer do..nvm other guy wrote it all out for you

Another boo hoo tbh. He could not do all that pandering and pomp and display… he chooses to. He’s the king, if he wanted he could take 10 chests of jewels and live in a woodsy forest and fuck a goat while being protected by snipers the rest of his life. He likes the attention

That’s not how it works at all. The royal family can’t just piss off with all the money, they can’t even enact laws. Tbh eh know that the second they tried, we’d burn their fucking palace down

Edit: ah, I see you’re American. Makes a lot of sense that you’re talking out of your arse about something you know nothing about

Not with the money “my guy”. You have no idea about the structure of British government or the law of the land and you still keep opening your mouth. People like you are the reason the rest of the world thinks Americans are stupid

For the record the royal family is absurdly wealthy even without public holdings, King Charles had an estimated £640 million in personal wealth in 2022. They're not exactly dependent on the state.

Absolute peanuts compared to the rest of it that’s held in trust

Sure but like they could definitely give up the royal duties and remain in the upper upper class. At that level of personal wealth they could probably maintain the same level of luxury too, obviously they'd have to give up Buckingham etc but functionally their quality of life probably wouldn't change that much.

Fair point. I was mainly arguing against the guy who implied that the royals could just start flogging the Crown Jewels and ripping paintings off the wall. In any event, I think it’s very unlikely they’ll ever dissolve voluntarily. If nothing else, they don’t really know any different even if the video above is pretty dubious
