🎫 Travel Info 🧳 Belize in November

Are we crazy for going to Belize first week of November?!?! HONESTY PLEASE. We know it’s the end of rainy season but fortunately/ unfortunately for us, this is the best time for us to get away.

We are thinking about 2 days in San Ignacio for the “jungle” experience and Mayan ruins. Open to other suggestions.

Then will stay in San Pedro for 4 days, visiting Caye Caulker via boat.

Is this feasible? Suggestions please!

If you think this isn’t a good time of year to go, we aren’t trying to have our one vacation ruined by rain, we can look elsewhere. Really just looking for a relaxing trip with some planned activities!

I’ve been to Belize in November for 2 years in a row now with this year being 3. Even though it’s the rainy season it might only rain for a few hours or so and then it’ll clear up. That’s tropical island weather for you. Still a beautiful time to go.

November is our favorite time of year. We haven't gotten much rain this year, and when it does rain, it is usually at night. Two days in San Ignacio is not much if that includes travel time from the airport and then traveling to Ambergris. You might want to rethink that. Have fun!

How would you suggest?

I agree that more time in San Ignacio is good. We spent a week here on our first visit and didn't see everything we wanted to. Im actually here right now for 3 nights, which seems exceedingly short for a visit. I like the cayes too, but for me, they are mostly about hanging out - doing a little snorkeling and a whole lot of nothing.

Couldn't agree more. Just came back from Belize. We also did 3 nights in San Ignacio but should have stayed for 4. Not much to do in the Cayes except snorkeling and fishing in my opinion.

22 years ago, my first trip, we danced in the rain in San Ignacio, Placencia, San Pedro and Tikal. It was all awesome! We were there Nov 15-Dec 2. Best time ever.

One of the best times to visit us. Tourist season just begining. Temperatures dropping. If it rains it is usually is just short showers.

November is lovely.

Even the best of meteorology can't give any better guess than telling you the average, 2 months ahead. High mid 80s, low about 70, 30% chance of rain, partly cloudy.

I think for a lot of us who live here, we like November a lot. There's a chance you can't go in the caves if water is high. Is that a deal breaker?

Caves would be cool.

ATM cave is particularly cool but that cave has been known to close during rainy season.

Does the water level in the caves typically get high in November? I totally understand that it’s unpredictable but I’m just wondering because I’m doing some cave exploring and I’ll be there early November.

We just went this last week. Also rain season. Weather was perfect in the day with flight rain in evenings. Locals say this is common. Raining in San Ignacio just feels right. It won’t ruin anything. We were lucky to have 5 days of sun. You will see sun it won’t rain consistently. We stayed in Placencia 3 days and San Ignacio 2 and snorkeled at laughing bird caye. It didn’t rain there either and the food was great. We had everything to ourselves it was kind of eerie but wonderful. Our snorkel tour had nobody else and a lot of the restaurants were shut down so beware. Our bnb also had nobody else staying there so it was wonderful. I recommend atving in San Ignacio. I posted pictures on insta jesse_lujan.

Weather in a tropical rain forest is always going to be variable. We have been going mid November for the last 7 or 8 years (except for covid…) and it has been fine. Last year, however, our plane had to do a u-turn because the Belize City airport closed due to a hurricane. We made it back two days later though.

Solid plan, and a solid time to go - the only better time is in the Dec-Feb window, which is probably the best time to go. So you did well. Have fun!

I know. December is tough for us! Buying a house and trying to have a little get away

November is usually good weather, but again can't really tell what mother nature has in plan, if it rains its usually passover and then it clears up, feel free to reach out I can definitely help out with Maya Temples, Caves, Waterfall and more

We are going too this year around this time and I did not dare to ask this question :D

I really hope it will be good but in any case I would appreciate some advice. We are most likely coming from Guatemala via Flores or from Livingston and in any case will then continue to Yucatan.

Not sure about the route though as we were playing with the thought of going a different way to Mexico first because of the dia de los muertos but not sure if is really worth it as it would requires us to enter Mexico two times and not sure about transportation either.

So I have no idea how much time is necessary to spent in each place so happy to hear more about your itinerary!

We’re going around that time too and will also be coming from Flores. Well actually we’ll arrive in Belize, rent a car to stay in Flores 2 nights to visit Tikal. Then we’ll head back to Belize for 2 weeks.

We did Día de Muertos in Mexico a few years ago in Isla Mujeres and it was fantastic!

Buddy and I did Belize the first week of November last year and it was mostly great, but our last day of diving was scrubbed and we had to head to the mainland because tropical storm Sara came to town. Was a trip getting from Placencia to BZE the next day to fly home (we managed it!)

The Belize Zoo is my favorite zoo in the world. It takes only local animals that wouldnt survive in the wild for one reason or another.

Also take the tour of ACES when in San Pedro. They rescue injured and at-risk wild animals on the island including crocs, turtles, birds and snakes.

Both amazing organizations.

November is our favorite time to go.

November is a great time to go. Typically less crowded, but beware the sargassum might be worse because the don’t clear it as much in the off-peak season

I just did two weeks in San Ignacio and ten days in San Pedro. There's so much to do in San Ignacio imo. I did 4 different temples(Caracol, xonantunich, Tikal, cal pech) ATM cave, did a kayak as well as just visiting the town and few nights out. Absolutely loved it. All the locals told me November busy season, from what I gathered. San Pedro should be fun as well.

They told me I'm in busy season, for basically a month I've seen little rain. Have fun!

I've always wanted to go in November for Garifuna Settlement Day

I went to Ambergris Caye several years ago during the first week of November. We had a hurricane during the trip. We were fine, the hotel was safe, & it wasn't a big storm, though obviously it wasn't what we went on vacation for - from Houston! I learned that hurricane season extends through the end of November. Go and have fun but know the risk.

Nobody can answer this question 😆

It's been a dry rainy season so far. You have access to the exact same weather info we do. Early November is the middle of rainy season. Mid December is when it ends usually. Even if it rains it usually blows through in a few hours.

Consider spending more time in San Ignacio

Edit: thanks for the downvote 😘
