Sendri masak sendiri cakap sedap? But yg x faham..ade tanda harga menu ke x? Did the customer ask the price before order? Or after the dude cooked then suka2 kedai aku suka hati aku nak letak harga berapa?
5
u/Outside-Pangolin-995 penggemar ketum berjaya 6h ago
Customer don't actually need to ask for price. If they do need to ask, then something is wrong with the business pricing and can ask KPDNKK to take action.

Not only that.. it's cheap prawns as well.. the size is too small. That looks like IQF 40/50 frozen prawns . Not even trimmed nor cleaned.
Presentation is a mess.. kerang which is Siham can get one whole kilo for less than 59 (meat only) and a telur mata is only 50 cents assuming he's using grade A
Judging total cost to be RM 4 (and that's me being generous).. to sell it at RM59 this guy must've taken too much gam

Please dont call it char…. This is kuey tiaw basah…. Dont tarnish the char kuey tiaw. Its like replacing sambal for cheese leleh and kacang with coco crunch and still calls it nasi lemak.
7
u/Jaded-Currency-5680 14h ago edited 7h ago
actually... char simply means stir fry, it applies to saucy stir fry as well, not only dry stir fry
char chai = stir fry vege, got sauce
char moi = stir fry porridge, got sauce
char duapan = stir fry flat rice noodle, got sauce
sorry that it is not what you wana hear, but its a fact, its technically not incorrect to use the word char on kueytiaw basah
sorry... really sorry
5
u/oilydong 5h ago
Its more about the identity of the food, not about the word that matters. Cheese leleh is technically “lemak” also, but replacing sambal with cheese sauce is not nasi lemak anymore. A wet wet version of kuey tiaw we wouldnt call it char, because the identity of char kuey tiaw is supposedly to be dry as heck which brings out the wok aroma from the cooking.
1
u/Jaded-Currency-5680 3h ago
yea, don't get me wrong, i get the point
just saying we cant really stop people from doing something technically correct, although it doesn't fit our personal perception of "identify of the food"
it is technically correct after all, personal perception shouldn't take precedence over it, lets dont be toxic

u/Cells-Interlinked386 3h ago
Oh ya ke? In that case, rice with pork lard can also be called Nasi Lemak.
“Char Kuey Teow” isn’t a literal description of the cooking method, you twot. It’s the name of the specific dish created by Penang Chinese.
Now be a good plank and stop calling that saucy abomination “Char Kuey Teow".

u/Diligent_Alps1785 17h ago
At that price point, it better be a catering portion with with decent amount of prawns.

What for McDonald's is cheaper

u/impthetarg 16h ago
You did say you would rather eat McD - implying that you wouldn’t if you had the choice. And since there are so many cheaper options than McD in Malaysia, means you can boycott both.

Not that the customer is right in this case because he disappeared. At the very least, order once, pay, then never go to the same place again. I don't get it, this place doesn't put price on its menu?
As for the owner, he has the right to be angry but insulting the customer might send the wrong message to the people who watched the video. "Macam takde duit jer nak makan" is irony since the price of his dish is unimaginably high. For RM 59...can you at least peel the shrimp shell first? I also doubt if the shrimps' digestive tracts are even removed beforehand.
My take: I estimate that dish is like RM 20 to 25 at best? What do others think?

Knn, macam harun rm59 cmtu. Kalau ada lobster takpa la jugak. Perangai macam siye, dah maki orang, then ask people to come at support
This kind of ckt, kerang with 3 prawns and telur mata, only rm10 at my hometown. Its just opposite of KMKulim. If you're feeling hungry, their nasi goreng is quite big portion.

u/Glum-Inside-6361 15h ago
I had a nice meal in a cozy restaurant with my wife the other day at Tamarind Cyberjaya. Only RM66 for both our meals.
For RM59 you could get a decent grilled salmon, or a generous portion of smoked beef brisket. Not this pre-chewed slop.

Oh man I saw the headline earlier and thought at least the food would be luxurious for RM 60. That looks like something you get for RM 18 at the most. Patut lah

RM 59 can enter a buffet in a mall lol. Really some of these Malay Restaurants and Gerai's are taking advantage of people. If you don't know how to price your food competitively and don't know what a acceptable profit margin or how to source cheaper and good quality materials. I don't think you should be in business.
1
u/M3LW1N94 3h ago
Oh my god RM59 for something that doesn't even look appetizing. Owner kedai got the nerves to complain about the customer running away. Harga 5 star, rupa makan macam taik
