Original Content Alright tell me did you guys “Pay Extra” to pass yours car/motor license
I'm about to take my JPJ test in a few days, and most of my teachers have suggested that I “pay extra” to pass. They’ve shared stories about other students failing, which makes me realize how corrupt this system is. 😭 What do you mean I could fail just because a tiny part of my bumper is barely over the line? 😭 Honestly, is this what happens to everyone else, or is it just at my location?
Edit: BTW wish me luck guys cause i ain’t pay for that shit bruh😭😭😭

My dad was very indignant not to pay. He said if I wasn’t able to pass legitimately, then I don’t belong on the road and have no business driving. Driving instructor was not pleased by this so he made lessons difficult and acted like a dick the entire time. Constantly telling me that I’m a shit driver and won’t be able to pass unless I pay up. Didn’t budge and managed to pass anyway.

Your dad is the hero we need.

Probably just wanted the assurance that I had what it takes to stay alive on the road. He was definitely nervous at first cos for the first few weeks he would drive behind me wherever I drove to (usually just nearby for starters) just to make sure I was safe and before he could finally be sure that I could handle driving longer distances.

u/username_ohmy 20h ago
Why didn't you switch instructor?
1
u/nightfishing89 i am never gonna financially recover from this 17h ago
There was only one instructor in my area, plus being a silly 17 year old who was just excited about getting my license and being able to drive my friends around to lepak, I just was like fk it and wanted to get it over and done with asap so I endured. Although looking back, he was way too abusive and misogynistic to be in that industry (his constant mantra was that all women are shit drivers)

Don't pay and know you passed without a hint of coffee stench staining your driver license. This is bragging rights. Once in a lifetime achievement. That sadly many fail.
1
u/AmIArif 17h ago
Yeah i ain’t pay for that bruhh, i don’t have that much of money laying around and i need it to continue my next semester. But i just hated how predatory they can be at least help me la cause i still remember they say “your driving skill improves as you get more experience” then expect me to be perfect on my first time.

u/BabaKambingHitam 21h ago
Yes.
But not worth it.
You might die on the road if you do.
2
u/AmIArif 21h ago
😭😭what you mean i might die 😭😭Hahah
16
u/BabaKambingHitam 21h ago
You are not good enough to pass the test, which is easier to drive compared to real road.
But you force pass by giving money.
Now you are on the road.
You might potentially die from the inevitable accident you'll have.
I almost die from it. I bayar kopi license. And I won't even recommend it to my enemy.

If you really suck they still fail you even if you paid
0
u/BabaKambingHitam 19h ago
Not in my case. My litar no problem, so I paid on the road. The whole trip the officer keep correcting my steering. Whole trip. That tell how badly my driving skill was. I passed.
And twice almost died from driving on the road. I'm lucky to be still alive. Not blaming the officer. I myself is to blame.
Not sure their standard was higher or not lah.
1
u/Lopsided_Farmer_136 19h ago
Oooh I see, guess varies from officer to officer. I know someone who paid but still got failed… just for forgetting the signal light at the last turning (back into the test centre). Had to retake n pay again.
1
u/BabaKambingHitam 19h ago
I'm glad that they have better standard now. Still sucks that they makan rasuah, but at least there's a standard now.
1
u/Traditional_Bunch390 15h ago
If you cannot to pass test, means you are not qualified and have no business driving on the road. Chances of you killing yourself (and others) is very high.

I have a friend who is such a terrible driver that the driving instructor actually refunded the “extra money” to her parents. It took her so many tries before she could pass. Even then, she’s still such a bad driver now. Always avoid sitting in her car. In the event I have to, I’ll usually say a prayer and maybe bring along a rosary.
1
u/lzchyi Boleh Kah? 4h ago
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA how bad you need to be? The officer refunded the bride...LMAO
1
u/sushichirushi 3h ago
Like really bad. It’s been so many years of driving and she still can’t tell apart which side is for signalling and which is for the wipers. She freaks out like crazy over the smallest things and drives slow when she should be faster and then fast when she should be slower.
5
u/Jaded-Philosophy3783 20h ago
it was hidden in a "normal package VS sure pass package". Sure pass package is more expensive by rm300 but you can retake as many times as you want if you fail
I had no idea about the pay extra thing at the time
I got my license and still wasn't able to drive alone in the city coz my skills wasn't actually up to par
1
u/KebanaanYangHakiki 20h ago
Same, I took the sure pass package. Retake the litar once. Also not sure if that includes duit kopi. Did mine at metro driving 2018.
2
u/ItsImNotAnonymous Resident Dumbass 21h ago
Don't do it, don't give in. You can pass without needing to pay. I had to repeat my test again and then passed. And luckily, nobody ever offered to take money to help me pass (JPJ nor the driving instructor).
2
u/Longjumping-Fly6131 20h ago
yes true.
my coworkers told me. bayaran janji lulus something. their kids didnt opt to pay so one of their ujian counted as gagal and needed to redo (paid for another exam). their kids friends who opted to pay all lulus, eventhough a handful of them drive more horrible than the kids....
2
u/robottoe 19h ago
Nope, pass on first try ezpz. those who do are probably the ones causing jams on our roads nowadays

My instructor didn't ask any extra ... He tells me to do my best in exam .... I fail once in Bukit then I got sounded by my instructor why I fail and come back to him again ... Then eventually I pass on second exam tried... To be frank he never teach me much .... I just drive me to a spot ask me to practise my parking and he gets out of the car and walk around the dusun picking durian for his later feast

u/Novel_Student_3888 21h ago
I didnt, but most of my friends did
I was nervous the whole time and did slip up a few times but i still passed.

u/Paddy_da_Daddy I'm the sunat guy 21h ago
I didnt pay extra
I just made sure to follow the guidelines
1
u/daddybarkmeplsuwu 21h ago
Yes, I paid for litar but not on the road. The payment is for the officer to be more lenient and give 3 chances. If not any small mistake, not looking at red light for 3 seconds before moving would get you a fail.
I paid for half of it and the officer was more lenient on me ( did nothing wrong on the road and got 3 chances on the bukit)
If you are 100% confident you can have same skill as C grade driver then go ahead. Or else pay it to make it easier on yourself. Cause every retake need to pay extra. Most officer won't let absolute abysmally dog shit drive out cause it is recorded nowadays if not mistaken and it'll be bad and their record

Aku salah seorang bayar lebih. Aku bayar pon sebab aku desperate nak lulus JPJ. Lesen L aku waktu tu lagi sebulan nak tamat tempoh. Kebetulan time aku ambil lesen la terjadinya waktu PKP dan waktu kelas/exam amatlah terhad so banyak tempoh lesen L aku tu membazir.

u/Maxziro_ 21h ago
Didn’t pay but pass the first time with a few points to spare.
Seeing the comments here hmm better not say it.

No, I was the first to pass in my batch. Everyone else before me failed.

u/FranxJax 20h ago
Back in my days, instructors tell you RMxxx until you pass. If you need to retake, you only need to pay the exam fees.
My instructor took me on the road first lesson during evening rush hour. Did 2 further lessons & 1 session of 3 point turn, side parking & half hill.
During my road test, engine died twice & the tester shook his head.
Gave me my pass though. I'm sure the instructor kopi-o-ed the testers to pass me nevermind if I'm a hazard to road users.
Switching from manual to auto a few years later helped my confidence tremendously & have been relatively accident free until today touch wood.

Unfortunately yes because the teacher only teach for one hour per week.
Combined with having no vehicle when the car was used by my parent for work. Recipe for disaster.
One day I just decide to drive alone and it is less stressful that I experienced. I just got shitty teacher that only tell direction two seconds before the corner.
12 hours total with 2 hour on real roads, what do you expect.

Didn’t have to pay extra in my case, just had the right connections. The only extra I spent was on extra lessons until I was confident enough to take the test eventho it was pretty much a sure pass. Still a traffic law abiding citizen tho coz if I kena saman then have to ask special treatment😝 that’s bringing shame to the family. iykyk.

Nope, but I had taken the test more than 20 years ago . But I don't think the test really prepares me for the road, but I managed.

u/Metamarphosis 19h ago
I heard, but I’m not interested. I got full marks in the computer test because I studied like it was the real exam. I easily pass the JPJ road test for both motorcycle and car licenses. Remember, practice makes perfect. Tell your instructor you want extra time to train, and don’t get involved in bribes you could die on the real road.

Nope. I was already partially proficiency with my dad's coaching using his old 80s manual Corolla at the open lot near our house so I passed everything easily.

u/forcebubble menjadi insan baik atau buruk itu adalah pilihan 16h ago
Changing it soon — lots of candidates, still considering.

u/Agile-Pudding1325 19h ago
My dad paid extra for mine dulu not to help me pass easily but just to fasten up the process. He and my older sister already taught me how to drive years before so i already know how to drive properly when i took my license.

u/htiraH_rimA 19h ago
No. i failed twice for both car (manual) & motorcycle (straight b full) but never failed road.
For motorcyle, both time I failed bridge.
For car, first time I hit the lane divider paint when cornering (T-intersection, the bumper hit line thing you mentioned) while second time I entered side parking too early (fair I guess). Never stalled the car somehow.
Did I spend more money than if I had paid extra? Definitely. Was it worth it? In my opinion, yes.
They won't (probably?) fail you because you don't pay, they just let you pass because you pay

u/Pirate401 19h ago
Failed first time on the 3 point turn, passed the 2nd time. I did think about bayar duit kopi but my instructor said it was 1k++... totally not worth it
1
u/EuclideanEdge42 19h ago
Yes, test was in Bangi(which was far and ulu at the time) so instructor said better pay to avoid repeats.

u/Afiq0286 19h ago
I remember that I paid the "fee" motorcycle but not for the car license because the car one is really not worth it since it really expensive in my opinion. Also if you fail the bukit one it still consider a failure regardless if you pay from what I heard. So no point in paying extra since you are still gonna pay extra for other exam
(I did fail the road exam for car because the JPJ is very strict saying that I hit the white line when turning so had to retake but the second one I got a a old JPJ, very chill old man, had a talk while driving and just ask me to UTurn after the first light and pass just like that.)

No, the staff at the training centre didn't mentioned anything about it, and my mom asked casually, and they say they don't do such thing lol.
That was more than 10 years ago.
1
u/bastage85 18h ago
Nope, didn't pay. Expected to fail but examiner fella was happy to give me a pass coz next day was start of a long holiday week (either Raya or CNY, can't remember which). I guess it also helped that I wasn't a shit driver (curi2 driving since 15).
1
u/AkamiMaguro 17h ago
Back then my instructor gave an itemized quote, this is for lessons, this is for test, this is for bribe like wtf. Anyway didn't pay and managed to pass. He didn't give me many lessons either, I had been driving a 4x4 in the plantation prior to the lessons.
1
u/ho4X3n 16h ago
I did for the "on the road" part because I had shit memory and can't be bothered to remember the route. I also had a friend that knew how to drive since he was 15 that already failed 3 times for that part. So I just went "f it" and paid the extra to pass it. Ain't nobody got time for that
1
u/mixtapetyun 16h ago
nope I didn’t pay extra, because I sticked to my moral despite only passing on my 10th attempt. yes I spent a lot of money paying for jpj re-test and extra lessons, but id rather spend the time to actually learn how to drive instead of paying and being a hazard on the road.
1
u/RaphaelSlader 15h ago
When I took mine 2017 +-, they had guarantee lulus or sampai lulus (i can't remember exactly) or normal. I took normal, alhamdulillah pass in 1 go. Also, during ceramah L, the "teacher" spent 90% of his time trying to sell questions instead of teaching.
1
u/RelevantPen3111 ~Just passing through~ 15h ago
It's actually an open secret thing...
Usually driving instructors will term it as 'full package' instead of 'pay extra' which guarantee the passing in tests because this thing was started by JPJ themselves where they will purposely find fault during your test(s) to make people not pass the test(s) easily...
'Pay extra' is perhaps additional privilege/service I heard before such as no need to attend the half-day lecture before the official driving lessons or someone help you do the computer test (my high school friend did not do the computer test but pass the test)...

u/Blcksheep89 15h ago
Didn't pay. Fail 3 times, spend rm1k++, no regret. First 2 times own mistake, 3rd time instructor purposely failed me. I am the type that will keep thinking about 'this is kopi license, I am not legit' whenever I look at my license and get immense guilt. So I pay extra just to make myself feel better in the future 30 driving years.

I was at a time and place where it wasn't necessary. I passed after only 2 deducted points.
Luckily too. Family made barely just enough, money had to be shifted around to pay for stuff. P almost nak expired baru the instructor called. If need to pay extra 300, don't know if we could even afford.

u/ConsoleLogin 7h ago
Came with the fee, only thing I “failed” was exiting the range without signal, total my parents paid like 1.8K ish for everything iirc
Other than that, that was about 7 years ago now

u/Monshyy2 6h ago
I just passed my jpj test yesterday and yeah my driving instructor told me the same thing😭😭 but i just smiled it off and decided to take it on my effort and i managed to get it without any duit kopi.
If you are good enough to not make any mistake then you are good to go but if you paid them, then they will overlook your mistakes so yeah
1
u/openterminal 6h ago
To me getting a driving license is one of the many easiest thing in life. If you need to cheat or bribe even for that, it already shows what kind of person you’ll become.
1
u/No_Celery7551 5h ago
Never heard of this and didn't 'pay extra', yet passed on first attempt.
I'll never entertain these ridiculous teachers asking me to 'pay extra', how hard can a JPJ Test for me to pay extra. Absolute comedy lol

I failed 4 times, passed my fifth test. Every single fail was on litar, because the tyre touch the line, bumper went above the line, tyre was not 80% on the ramp and shit. Silly silly reasons yet my dad refused to pay under table. Each repeat was rm350. Yet when I passed the fifth time, I saw many of them who blatantly didn't use indicators, hit the curbs and failed miserably before my very eyes but the instructor turned blind eye to them.
But hey I passed with dignity. And I'm damn proud of it

u/neebliss 3h ago
Failed twice. 3rd examiner ask : tak nak pao lagi ar? I just smile and say no. Passed the 3rd time, been driving for 20 years.

I failed twice, passed the 3rd time. Mom knows I didn't pay extra. Cause I was actually broke at that time and I relied on her money to pay for the course.
Fast forward 3 years later, everyone thinks I paid extra, my mom doesn't remember as well.

Passed first try in 3 months from April 6 2024 (the day when I started my undang class) until July 12 2024 (where I took my jpj test)
Manual licence , normal package and no extra classes.
All I did was just watch youtube and use my parking games in my phone to practice , I do this on my bed too , very comfortable.

u/cyclonicjason 1h ago
I did pay and made no mistakes during the exams. So why did I even pay? Just in case the examiner tried to be funny with me. Oh btw the examiner was sleeping in the car until the crucial parts of the driving test.

u/AssignmentNo9425 24m ago
I paid extra because I failed my computer test. So I had to pay extra to retake the tests. I think I paid like RM20 to retake the computer test. This was back in 2012.
