Why hear? It wasn't mentioned in the menu? Definitely avoid restaurants that don't state their prices.

u/imtib 20h ago

I mean roadside stalls dont really have menu most of the time, idk maybe in a big city that wasnt the case cuz if im ordering a chinese fried rice i dont expect it to be more than rm8 so practically no menu needed. These roadside restaurants have the same menu anyway unless the name of the restaurant said otherwise

Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 1967, learn it.

Not putting up prices is in violation of this law, and ignorance is not a defence.

6

u/BuDn3kkID 4h ago

The Act had been amended, it is now the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 (PCAP) ( Act 723 ) which works alongside the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Regulations (PCAPR) 2018 being enforced by the latest iteration of KPDN.

3

u/imtib 2h ago

Damn you work in law or something? Not mocking btw, pretty big w to know something like this, cuz not everyone reads these types of thing unless they really want or need to... We prolly need more people like you in reddit

4

u/BuDn3kkID 2h ago

It's a single Google Search away. If more people actually did the most basic of searches online and not just blab in the comments, we'd have less misunderstandings and arguments.

2

u/imtib 2h ago

Yea true, and importantly people also need to know that those things are a problem, like in my situation that things common and i dont know its wrong

2

u/CN8YLW 2h ago

Usually if ordering from these stalls I'll ask the price first. Even if they sell CKT I'll ask what variety they have and how much is a plate.

31

u/razirazo 19h ago

Probably expecting a big feast. Mana la tau sekali sampai rupanya sampah dalam sampan

6

u/tomo_7433 6h ago

If i ordered a rm59 plate of char kuey teow and get that, I'd laugh and leave too

27

u/FinancialMarketing34 19h ago

Mann i was eating at mamak one day ( the vibe is not fancy or anything, looks like regular mamak but cleaner) and order nasi goreng 2 with 3 drinks. Imagine my surprise when the total come out to rm40++. Idk why is it so expensive, and surely no sane malaysian would ask mamak for menu😭😭

11

u/Slow_Imagination_682 16h ago

Not cheap compared to other cheaper mamak option but definitely not exorbitant. Maybe drink RM7 each and Nasi Goreng RM10 each.

8

u/Lildev_47 15h ago

It depends on what drink he got, but if its like a teh ais and its not in a mall?

I gotta know what they smoking to have the delusion that they'll stay in business

7

u/FinancialMarketing34 15h ago

Yea just some teh tarik and teh o ais. Plus the mamak was in tepi jalan too😭 a lot of people were there but now i think it was bcs the neighbourhood are m40 or sumn.

2

u/Slow_Imagination_682 15h ago

Like I said, it's not cheap.

68

u/AfiqRyunosuke I am grilled patootie 20h ago

67

u/Zorua0570 A furry 20h ago

Literally who give that seller the encouragement to sell 60 ringgit for a plate

-41

u/Practical_Dingo_905 20h ago

There’s tiger prawn on it maybe that’s why.

Even mamaks sell tiger prawn at crazy prices

36

u/flying69monkey 19h ago

Even if you sell the tiger prawns at RM 5 per piece, there need to be 10 of them inside to justify that. There is no way the is more then 3 in there

-18

u/Practical_Dingo_905 19h ago

Bro mamak sell tiget praw at RM12-15 a piece

12

u/Cheap-Ad2945 18h ago

3 of em only RM 36 + rm 10 for noodles tha Rm 46 at max

-10

u/Practical_Dingo_905 16h ago

Char koey teow double and telur mata and 3 prawn

5

u/BabaKambingHitam 3h ago

8

u/DangIt_MoonMoon 17h ago

Complain to kpdn

21

u/FaythKnight 19h ago

Tiger prawns are cheap ass tasteless prawns. They are just big.

14

u/UnemployedBehavior 19h ago

Meanwhile the tiger prawn is not even bigger than my pinky finger.

u/JustOrdinaryUncle 20h ago

char koay teow RM59? hope every customer do what the person did, what a bullshit price

19

u/CabinetInevitable730 20h ago

I think the more important question is where is this restaurant so that I can avoid it like a plague

3

u/CN8YLW 2h ago

dont just avoid it. Report it to KPDNKK for potential violation of the profiteering act.

26

u/Outrageous_Flan3789 B40 geng au 20h ago

I could eat a full meal with more varieties of food in less than rm59 at sushi mentai...

19

u/Additional_Bit1707 20h ago

Many buffets cost less than RM59.

9

u/TheHasegawaEffect 19h ago

Can eat authentic ramen for that price.

3

u/SkippableAt11thHour 18h ago

can eat for 3 full day with that amount, no drinks tho

10

u/kimi_rules Crazy Car and Tech Enthusiast 20h ago

Report KPDN for not listing prices

24

u/Conscious_Law_8647 20h ago edited 19h ago

I would atleast leave RM7, then I run away

7

u/deenali 19h ago

Yup. At least you paid. Enough or not it's a matter of your price against theirs. Lol.

14

u/A4li11 20h ago

RM59 for that?

Ngl can't blame the man for running away

7

u/OwnDiscount3866 20h ago

7

u/Cells-Interlinked386 15h ago

This is char kuey teow.. not whatever that is..

1

u/BabaKambingHitam 3h ago

That is halalised ckt.

5

u/SulkingOnion 19h ago

Malaysian come Singapore eat is it? Oh wait, still overpriced…

9

u/wowbl 19h ago

In the pic, way too watery for a proper CKT

4

u/chronicler44 18h ago

That don’t look like RM59 to me

4

u/module6969 17h ago

makan air lol

3

u/Honest-Head7257 18h ago

Daging babi kedai Non muslim lagi murah lagi berselera aku tengok dari kuey tiaw what the fuck is this price. With that rm 59 I could buy 3 dinner worth of meal from mamak stall

3

u/everywhereinbetween 18h ago

lmao

I ate Mdm Kwan fish soup with noodles + drink, also not RM 59. 😂

I would run away too and I earn in SGD dude. (RM 59 is SGD 18? Siao pls.)

This is like equivalent to those SGD 20 nasi padang at Food Republic 😂🤨😩

3

u/rawrious 18h ago

is it kuay teow soup? or fried kuay teow?

3

u/CucuMatMalaya 17h ago

Malay style char Kuay teow....

3

u/clip012 17h ago

Dah viral, KPDN melawat jap lagi.

3

u/jxxnjie 16h ago

ridiculous. RM59 for what, only big prawns in there and the regular char kue tiau. I'm paying rm20 at most, and that's being generous.

3

u/catlover2410 15h ago

Until it is served and eaten, customer have the rights to walk away.

3

u/lebruo1621 14h ago

And he asked for support 💀

2

u/chriselvin1025 17h ago

The only CKT i know is dry and is rm 11 max (coz tambah dua telur) 🤡

2

u/Traditional_Bunch390 17h ago

Rm59 can have a very nice meal at Sushi Zanmai d. Ada aircon lg

2

u/Rakkis157 9h ago

For 59, it's two meals, lol. Take away esok makan.

2

u/[deleted] 5h ago

That disgusting looking dish is not char Kway teow

2

u/pokegomsia 4h ago

I hope the owner goes bankrupt, this shit is worth RM 10 at best considering it comes from a small stall, not even a proper shop. Fuck him, saw the video about how entitled he is.

4

u/Jaded-Currency-5680 19h ago edited 19h ago

guys, chill

this is weirdkaya, all their "news" were imaginary and pulled straight out of their "journalists'" asses

12

u/wotageek 19h ago

Well, in this case it's clickbait. Customer didn't run away after eating the food, he ran away before he even finish placing the order if you read the article. OP only put up a screen cap, Knn...

Its not newsworthy aside from the ridiculous price.

4

u/Jaded-Currency-5680 18h ago

it really happened? thats a surprise

sorry didn't read the article, just my principal of avoiding any clickbaits as discouragement

so whats the proof or at least indication that anything is real? do we know the whos the customer or the name of the shop as reference? or source of this news?

2

u/wotageek 17h ago

Video is on Penang Kini FB.

https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1186736050169715

Personally, I think what's truly outrageous here is calling that wet slop char kuey teow. Spoil name only.

0

u/CoolWei2006 Kedahlang strongest weeb. Also a pc nerd 14h ago

That's why I always call them ckt "BASAH" cus it's the wet version. But a lot of ppl are dumbfounded and go "oh malay version of ckt and Chinese version of ckt" NAH bro one is literally wet. They fried the kuey teow then added the Kuah.

And tbh i prefer the wet version than the normal one (dry version)

2

u/wotageek 6h ago

It's just kway teow basah. No char, don't add the c.

1

u/BabaKambingHitam 3h ago

Wat tan hor.

2

u/tyl7 18h ago

You call this wet dream CKT?

1

u/GladeHeart 20h ago

Which one robbed?

1

u/Just_Illustrator6906 lazy, 44-year-old bougie bitch 20h ago

1

1

u/MalasAndALoser JANGAN SUSAH ORANG 19h ago

Where ? So I could evade this restaurant.

1

u/pandancake88 19h ago

Semua guna bahan premium, bang.

1

u/khxirvl 18h ago

NGL, me too

1

u/Fickle_Efficiency681 18h ago

RM59 ringgit is like 12 Nasi+telur

1

u/Decent-Ratio 18h ago

RM59 are worth 3 days of food, did the restaurant owners think they were some kind of luxury restaurant or something?

1

u/Mr_Resident 18h ago

Do lloyd frontera run this stall or what lol

1

u/CN8YLW 18h ago

if the price isn't listed on the menu, excessive pricing like this can be reported to kpdnkk. because there is no argument that can be used to justify the products cost to sale price ratio.

1

u/HeroMachineMan 17h ago

The CKT dish must have been cooked by an Ah Long.

1

u/NyesTart1399 17h ago

That sang har prawn, dayum

1

u/JohnnyTeoss 17h ago

59 Ringgit for a Char Kuey Tau? Gilah lah! Sya pun lari oh.

1

u/H3artmirror 16h ago

That is the right decision, I would not pay that too. Wtf

1

u/Miro_Kun 14h ago

Is this Char Kueh Tiaw bonet for having this kind of price?

1

u/ChangeEuphoric 13h ago

..Who on earth would charge RM60 for a simple dish like CKT..? Are they bonkers?

1

u/Rakkis157 9h ago

RM49 I can just eat for a week. Like damn that price.

1

u/No-Vanilla7885 6h ago

1 prawn = RM 5?

1

u/FaheemZul 6h ago

This is why I always check prices first 🤦 This is a bad look for both of them

1

u/Big_Goose_730 5h ago

I'd better shit gold after eating the char kuey teow that cost RM59

1

u/bad2dbone3 5h ago

Saya saport. Mana alamat kedai?

1

u/kinwai 3h ago

If uols watched the video, the gall on the seller to say “59 ringgit, bukan 59 ribu pun”

1

u/gooie 3h ago

I think should clarify what kind of running away. If you ate it then run away, thats stealing.

But if you dont accept the quality or price and run away without eating, thats a business dispute (unless you do it just to troll the vendor then thats not ok)

1

u/CN8YLW 2h ago

https://worldofbuzz.com/msian-stall-vendor-claims-arrogant-customer-bolted-after-learning-his-char-kuey-teow-special-costs-rm59/

Standard CKT + prawn + cockles + egg = RM59. Break it down please... standard CKT lets say RM8... prawn how much? It looks like standard prawn, and not the premium stuff like large size tiger prawn or anything, so average CKT seller will maybe charge RM5. Cockles? Come on la... how much can these be? Plus egg, telur Najib yang hilang ke?

And who posted this video? The vendor. This guy potentially violating consumer law in Malaysia, he dares post this kind of shit online for everyone to see. From the sounds of it, the restaurant didint dine and dash. He asked for price, then walked away when hearing the price without ordering. And from the looks of it, this seller has other customers with similar orders. So yeah, KPDNKK definitely needs to look into this.

1

u/tpseng 47m ago

I'm surprised KPDNKK haven't looked into it until now

1

u/Playful-Ad-7277 Your mom loves me 2h ago

ewww why is char kuay teow so wet geli lah

1

u/Purple-Juice7651 1h ago

Maybe after eating, got a free massage. Check the receipt tailo.

1

u/erosannin66 1h ago

Even Singaporeans would think thats expensive lol

1

u/LeJoker8 19h ago

Diu daylight robbery and that’s fucking kuey tiao basah la.

0

u/NoPomegranate1144 12h ago

Thats like, three giant prawns. Those things cost like 8 rm raw.

0

u/Many-Air5763 5h ago

Everyone saying that Rm 59 unfair but it depends on the type bro. If you put a lot of seafood the price will obviously go up as cost of seafood is high. Even in Nasi Kandar shop getting prawns will increase the price like that. But if that is the Char Keuy Teow then even Rm 15 not worth it. It looks bad
