[Fowler] #Browns RB Quinshon Judkins (questionable) is expected to make his NFL debut Sunday vs. #Ravens, per sources.

Last night I had a dream Judkins scored a touchdown. Hopefully it comes true.

My expectations for Judkins long term is he becomes that dominant RB1

However

My expectations for him this week and the next 1-2 games are a lot like when Hunt came in after Chubbs injury in 2023

Hunt got to the team on a Wednesday played 14 snaps, rushed it 5 times and was targeted 3 times (caught 2)

Give Q just enough to get comfortable but don’t expect him to be the bellcow right away and have to pick up blitzes and do a lot of extra

Give him short yardage looks, a screen or 2 and adjust if he looks dominant or not

That sounds like a reasonable plan for him rn. He’ll need time to get back into football shape. Worst thing they could do is give him workhorse snaps against the Ravens and he gets a soft tissue injury from it. I expect them to be smart about it and ease him in as the season goes along. He’ll be RB1 next year with a hopefully rebuilt offensive line

My guess is by the London game if not shortly after (all this assuming there isn't a long term suspension) he is the clear RB1 with Sampson being a Duke Johnson type change of pace back

Where Q gets 20-25 touches a game and Sampson another 10-12

Now if he is suspended and we don't get him back for an extended period then expectations get realigned.

How many touches was Chubb getting in his prime? This seems high but it really does look like they’re rebuilding the team around the run and short pass game so you could be right

From 2018 (rookie season) to 2022

13.3, 20.9, 17.2, 17.7, 19.4

The vast majority of that is rushing attempts

Thanks! Yep I’d imagine this is pretty comparable

Around 17 rushes and 2-3 passes his way

Hunt as well was in the 10+ rushing attempts, with Hunt being a physical back as well it did balance the workload

Sampson isn’t a physical back, so imo his touches need to be like last week where it’s quick pass to the flat/screen and get him in space

Let Q do the dirty work

450 yard rushing game incoming.

Go Browns.

Harbaugh wears a wooden plug.

This clearly has to happen regardless of how many blitz pickups he understands bc they need to be able to run the ball

Sampson did very well in his debuts last week.

For now, Judkins only has to outplay Ford as the change-of-pace back. Which shouldn't be very difficult.

I mean I have no idea what they intend to do this week but long-term Judkins is the early down guy to run between the tackles, not the change of pace back.

Sampson was great in the passing game last week but our actual run game was terrible.

That's why I said "for now".

I'd think Stef would already have planned to go into Sunday's game without accounting for Judkins.

So Sampson as the early downs/pass option back and Judkins as the short yardage back
