Maybe it’s just me (or maybe I’m just getting old), but I feel like people go way too far dissecting Buffy with modern 2020s standards. At the end of the day, it’s a vampire show. A fantasy. Yes, it had real emotional depth and some of the most brilliant character arcs on TV — that’s why it’s still beloved — but sometimes the way people get worked up over the relationships and characters almost overshadows the actual show.

I’m honestly glad I got to enjoy Buffy before all this over-analysis was the norm. The reboot? Yikes. They’re going to have to tiptoe around everything like walking through a minefield just to avoid someone being offended.

These days, it feels like everything gets put under a microscope. Sure, the debates can be interesting, and I’m not saying people shouldn’t have opinions. But sometimes it feels like the joy of the show gets buried under endless moral arguments, with everyone trying to prove their interpretation is the “right” one and yours is “wrong.”

For me, Buffy was always about exploring life’s messiness through a supernatural lens. It was never meant to be a handbook on how to be perfect or how to live your life.

Maybe I really am turning into Giles — time to shut down the “blinking box,” grab a book and a tea… (no to Bovril & I say that as Brit 🤣🤮)! 😅

Taylor Momsen talked to Page Six at the VMAs yesterday about her love for Buffy and her desire to be on the sequel series. She said she is really excited for the sequel and that she “gotta make some phone calls” about being a part of that. Sarah Michelle responded to her on instagram saying “I know some people”. Taylor is a massive fan of the og series and I wanna see her acting again even if that is for a small cameo. That would be great to see.

Hey hey guys, I finished season 3 a few minutes ago and I'm here to report back with my comments and impressions :)

Let's get right into it:

• man... Faith is very annoying and she's only been here for 5mins
• I wish Kendra had survived and moved to Sunnydale instead :(
• the concept of a Watchers' retreat in the Cotswolds is sending me 🤣 are all Watchers British? It would make perfect sense
• Willow, Xander and the others have been pissing me off for a couple of episodes now. I get that they didn't know Buffy killed Angel after the spell came into effect, but even without that piece of information, surely they must have realised that Buffy has been through a fucking lot? Don't tell my girl that the should be having fun... she's grieving and trying to get back to her "normal" life already. None of them would be as strong as she is, in her place
• my man Giles is the only one who gets it... he knew something was up and worked his way through getting Buffy to open up
• I know this episode is literally called The Beauty and the Beast, but to me it looks like Angel is more in his Tarzan era
• what are Xander and Willow doing. WHAT ARE THEY DOING
• the Slayerfest slaps!! Mr. Trick and his dapper suit are very cool! I hope he's this season's villain, though it looks like it might be the Mayor instead
• teenager Giles is unhinged, I'm dying
• I know Joyce and Giles getting together would be Buffy's worst nightmare lol
• I like that Giles defended Buffy in front of the others but then told her in private how disappointed he was in her after the Angel thing... this is how you do it
• Buffy telling Xander that he only wants Angel dead because he's jealous... music to my ears

• the Joyce and Spike saga continues, and I thank the gods for it
• Angel's face when he saw Spike inside Buffy's house LMFAOOO

• CORDY!!! I had a heart attack, thought she'd died. She really didn't deserve any of this, and Oz didn't deserve it either

• The Wish gave me anxiety. Buffy dying like that... it just doesn't feel right, don't put that kind of thought into the world
• although she looked amazing with that lip-scar and the whole outfit... wish she would slay me too
• Xander and Willow only make sense together as vampires, the writers could have stopped at that instead of ruining the relationships with Cordy and Oz (yes, I'm still salty)
• Giles and Angel's long awaited reunion, this hurts
• I love Oz... he's really great. I'm scared he will die a horrible death
• Angel is so dramatic, man, just get inside
• sigh Joyce. What the fuck are you doing
• not to sound like a 17th century European peasant, but witches are dangerous - I think compared to other humans with supernatural powers or even demons, they are more resourceful, they can use their power in many different ways and can potentially set off, well, anything
• for instance, I wonder if a spell would be able to make a vampire human again... or give Angel the opportunity to have sex without turning back into a psycho vampire lmfao
• in any case, very curious to see where this newfound power takes Willow
• I don't even know what an ice show is supposed to be but I sure as hell would have liked to see Buffy and Giles go together :(
• betrayal hurts x100 more when it comes from Giles 💔

• they could have kept her, I mean she wasn't that bad, right :( she goes back to her world and gets instantly killed by Oz, this is no fun
• I've had enough, I'm gonna kill Faith myself
• something's not right here though, it feels like Angel is pretending to be Angelus (when he was tying Buffy up, he looked at her in an almost sweet way...?)
• AND I WAS RIGHT!! they were working together, oh I like this, I wish we had seen more of this
• the fact that Buffy hadn't realised before that Joyce and Giles did in fact have sex 😬 oh sweet summer child

• Willow is a better person than me because I would have been on that plane to Oxford
• dear Buffy, what Angel was trying to say is that he's going to have his own spin-off and that's why he's leaving you out of the blue
• I think the writers were not great with break-ups this season... you can tell they'd dropped the ball on Buffy and Angel completely even before this ep, because that's a lame ass excuse for a break up lol after the whole Angelus thing, no way the "I'm immortal, you're not" shtick is going to sound believable. Also, I vehemently disagree with Angel: I think I've seen enough of Buffy to say that she wouldn't be happy in a "normal" relationship with a "normal" human being. My girl is freaky!
• that's a very sweet thing Xander did... and this is how he and Cordelia can still get back together, in this essay I will-
• BUFFY IS GETTING AN AWARD???!!! MY BUFFY! 🥹
• Giles putting on his proudest smile for her... that whole sequence had me in tears
• Angel showed up... stupid 243 old boy, go and make Buffy happy even if only for one night. I need Buffy to have just one moment of happiness

I loved that they revisited it again in "Chosen"

I know there has been alot of hate for the new sequel series. I think we are in good hands and we will get something good! The writers ✅ The Director ✅

And who else is excited that we are going to get monsters that look amazing??

Kennedy has been sleeping in Willow's room since she arrived. At the end of the episode, Kennedy, upset that Willow drained her energy, goes into Willow's room to sleep alone and says "I'll see you tomorrow." Willow goes to talk to Buffy, but then where's she supposed to sleep that night? Did Kennedy kick Willow out of her own room?

I’m really excited it’s the first time I’ll get to meet a celebrity, and the fact that it’ll be James makes it even special. I heard he’s really nice so don’t hesitate to post your experience meeting him (it’ll probably make me less nervous 😅)

We’re rewatching Buffy over on Evil Monkey and we’re on season 3 and idk why but I forgot how long that Willow/Xander romance arc went on for before they got caught kissing.

The footsie, glances, and stolen touches made me wanna vomit 🤢🤢🤢!!

Why’d they do that? To just set us up for some drama and break ups?? To get the actually much less vomit inducing vamp willow/xander romance in the next episode? WHAT WAS THE REASON (cardi b voice)

Also, why am I wayyy less grossed out by vamp willow/xander together?? 🤔

In the 7x15 episode “get it done” Willow creates a portal to bring Buffy back from meeting with the creators of the first slayer. A lot of attention is drawn to the fact that Willow sucks energy from Kennedy because she’s the strongest in the room; what really doesn’t get highlighted is she also sucked energy from Anya. Does this mean she is also one of the strongest? Has the most knowledge of magic ? I’m curious

I had somehow never caught the inspiration for the production company name before.

Every time I rewatch and I get to Riley I think he's not so bad, and good with Buffy. Why didn't I like him? Then Maggie tries to kill her and he's just like.. but what about that vampire? What about me?? And he's just a downhill douche from there.

So I just found out that Christian Kane who plays Lindsey in ATS auditioned for the part of Riley in BtVS. Trying to picture it. Would it have made a difference to how Riley was viewed as a character? And who would've played Lindsey?!
