Natural cordage for fishing line?

What have you guys used? I'm looking at getting either some hemp or silk cordage, but I'm having trouble finding a lot of information about this online.

Ive used yucca fibers. A lot of people use dogs bane if available in your region. I just found out earlier today that the stem of giant ragweed can be used for cordage, and that is something I am going to definitely experiment with, especially if it provides 8 ft long fibers.

I dont have anything to recommend that you can purchase if thats what you are after

If you’re buying and not crafting it anyway, why not just get some true fishing line? Braid can be used as multipurpose cordage in a pinch so long as you get decent lb line

I have plenty of regular fishing line, I've just been trying to reduce plastic usage in general and it lead me to wonder what fishing without it would be like. Crafting my own cordage is an option, I'm just worried that it won't be very good.

You can get hemp cord at the dollar store but its thin. You could probably twist it into a thicker rope using a drill though.

old old school was braided horsehair.

Silk was later and for the "sportsman" not the person trying to support themselves.
