Visiting Bydgoszcz some time between 11.08. to 17.08.
Update: I left a bit earlier than planned.
Hi, I (28M from Germany) hope this type of post is allowed in this community. If not please let me know and I'll remove it.
So anyway as the title says I'll most likely be in Bydgoszcz in that time range for a few days. I don't exactly when yet since I'll be traveling there by car and most likely end up looking at more stuff on the way.
I have already picked out a few things I'd like to look at (see below) so I'm not just blindly asking for suggestions.
Since I struggle with getting to know new people and generally feel anxious going places alone I was wondering if anyone would like to meet and maybe go to those places together ? Probably also a lot more fun :)
But of course this wouldn't be a post by some random tourist without asking some touristy questions as well so here goes :P
Does anyone know if there are "flea markets" in Bydgoszcz in that time range ?
What i mean is a market where random people sell all kinds of weird and wonderfull old things. Doesn't have to be tourist friendly / presentable. I just really like to look at all things random and weird hoping to find some hidden treasures (read "trash" for everyone else)
And of course the obligatory food question.
Can anyone recommend places to eat good and cheap food ? Doesn't have to be polish food, anything goes.
Thank you very much for any responses i might get and feel free to just DM me.
Here is the list of places i already picked out:
- Museum of Soap and Dirt History
- „Pod Łabędziem” Pharmacy
- Water Tower
- Waterworks Museum, the Pumping Station
- Exploseum Factory DAG
- And of course just walking around the city and looking at things like any tourist :)

You should consider visiting the Polish Land Forces Museum as well. Even if it's neither the biggest or the grandest museum, there is one piece in particular that I love and it's a complete Winged Hussar cavalry armor on display.
The Treasure of Bydgoszcz. In the European centre of money or whatever its name is in English (located on the Mill Island) there is a display of a massive treasure found a few years ago under the floor of a cathedral. Big collection of absolutely stunning pieces that were hidden from the swedes when they invaded Poland centuries ago.
Ostromecko Pałace Complex - even though it's not exactly IN the city itself, it's so close that it could easily be a part of Bydgoszcz.

I have a question about the land forces museum. There is actually 2 locations on the map with the same name. One is at "Czerkaska 2" and the other ones address is just "Osówiec, Poland". I'm guessing the first one is correct but I'm curious what the second one is. Is that also part of it just further away ?
Oh also you have some really stunning looking pictures of the city in your posts :)

The second part is their open air exposition of larger vehicles that's only open occasionally when they're doing larger events. Not sure if it's due to understaffing or lack of funding or just because it's actually an ex-military area that's not fully open. But don't worry, the hussar armor is on Czerkaska street that's open on a regular schedule.

Ah ok that makes sense. Now that you said it i remembered seeing this:

So looks like they might be opening their open air exposition as well on that day. Oh and hey free entry ;)1

Oh, nice! There are plenty of interesting vehicles there, but don't expect anything more than the vehicles and some temporary stalls. After all, it's a storage lot most of the time.

Thats perfectly fine. Actually i prefer the type of museum where you just get to look at things and and use your own brain to understand things (so no lengthy texts, not that i could read them anyway... :P)

Exploseum is pretty cool but check if it’s still open - maybe even call them. Pub PIWO is pretty cool. I would narrow your trip to Bydgoszcz to it. It’s rather boring and you can see everything < 24 without staying for the night. PS I think I could go for a beer on 14/08 :)

Yeah that place seemed a bit dead. I'll definitely either give them a call or go there when I'm leaving in the direction of Warsaw so i won't drive there for nothing.
Staying overnight is more because I'm actually going on a road trip so I'd like a bit of a break from driving as well :)
Also thanks for the offer. I'll see if i can align my travel to be there on the 14th.3

Exploseum is still open - they close during the winter since it is cold there but in the summer it is open. On Sunday there is Frymark with some local quality food and other goodies - it is quite nice! I am also open to go out and show around. :)

I read about Frymark and if i can fit that in time wise I'll go there. Tasty food is a good reason to stay longer as well :)
Thank you for your offer as well. I'll try to let you know in advance when exactly I'll be there as soon as i know.
