User flairs are now available

User flairs are a subreddit-specific way to tag yourself. Here are the options:

  • Barbri
  • Themis
  • Kaplan
  • Quimbee
  • Attorney Candidate
  • Law Student
  • Passed
  • Tutor
  • Vendor
  • Other (can customize)

For example, if you're using Barbri to prep, you can select "Barbri." This flair will show up next to your username. You are able to edit the Other flair with your own entry.

This not only gives context to your posts and comments so we know who we're talking to but is also a fun way to identify yourself and others.

I encourage you to set yours! If you're primarily promoting a product or service, please select "Vendor" (and be judicious with your posts and comments).

How to set your user flair:

If you're using the mobile app, tap the three dots in the upper right while in the main r/CABarExam feed. Tap "change user flair" to see the different options. Enable "show my user flair on this community."

If you're using a web browser, you'll see "USER FLAIR" on the sidebar to the right, above the rules. Check the "show my user flair on this community" box.

Let me know if you have any suggested changes or additions.

Should I start applying for entry level attorney positions?

I’ve passed the bar exam, and the only remaining requirement is the MPRE (yes, I know I probably should’ve taken care of that earlier 🤷‍♀️).

I recently took the MPRE and I am hoping I passed. Given my current situation, is it appropriate for me to start applying for associate positions now so I can hopefully have a job lined up? Do I have a realistic chance of being hired at this stage?

Free - Early Start Program

My free Early Start Program will begin on October 6, 2025, and will consist of ten classes over Zoom on Monday and Wednesday nights at 7PM. These classes will run until the results for the July 2025 exam are released in November.

This course is designed to get people started early on, and to get them into the right mindset to go forward and pass the exam. Additionally, if you are self-studying, we'll lay out a path that will help you cover the requisite material without letting issues/subjects slip through the cracks.

To register, please send your e-mail address to [admin@nobullbarprep.com](mailto:admin@nobullbarprep.com), with "Early Start" in the subject line. And don't worry, I won't send you marketing trash for the next 17 years, not my style.

I keep looking at statistics. J25

I cant help myself from looking at the statistics. This purgatory of waiting for bar results is worse than taking the exam. According to the statistics, I am likely to have passed but there's that questioning in the back of my mind asking if I am part of the majority or if I failed and became part of the minority.

Are these statistics any sign of how I did? I keep looking at the CA bar exam statistics on their website of previous passers by state and race and gender.

MEE Only Bar Prep?

J25 taker in a UBE state, need to take the CA bar too. Themis subscription ran out, going to go with Adaptibar for the MBE study. Any suggestions on bar prep for just the California MEE style/material?

I'm in search of a boutique law firm or public law/nonprofit org that hires (or is willing to hire) provisionally licensed lawyers (PLL) in California - preferably Southern CA. If anyone has any leads, please DM me.

Bad dreams

Seriously fuck the bar exam… I continue to have literal nightmares about failing J25 and having to take the test again. Not to mention random daytime triggers that hit me like a bout of Havana syndrome. Hasn’t been debilitating but what the fuck man, feel like my subconscious has been chewed up, spit out and rewired since this test.

Anyone else?

Moral Character - Getting my State / Federal / Juvenile Criminal Record

Hey guys,

I am a nontraditional student (3L) who is going to take the July 2026 Bar Exam. I am trying to figure out if some of the shitty things I did as a juvenile (which I did community service for) were expunged, or just dismissed, etc. I am in my 40s so I dont remember these details. I also might have certain events i did as a young adult (20 years ago) that might also be on my record, not sure because again, they might have been dismissed or expunged (I am not sure).

My Question: Does anyone know how I am supposed to get my criminal records? Either as an adult or as a juvenile. Specifically, if I request my record by doing a Live Scan, should this be sufficient or is there a better way to get my records.

I've lived in LA County and Orange County. And only those counties. Please help.

Job openings - SD

This might be a long shot, but I thought I’d try anyway!

If anyone knows of any job openings in the San Diego area (or remote), I’d really appreciate your help. I’d be happy to send over my resume.

My background is primarily in sales and customer service, and I also spent a few semesters working at the Public Defender’s Office, where I developed strong research, writing, and client service skills. I’m currently awaiting California bar exam results, and while I don’t have a ton of legal work experience yet, I’m eager to stay busy, contribute, and continue learning.

Living in San Diego is expensive, and I’d love the chance to work while I wait for results, whether it’s in a legal setting, sales, customer service, or another role where I can be useful.

Please feel free to DM me if that’s easier. Thank you so much!

Taking CA bar from Out of State

For background, I currently go to law school in UBE jurisditction and I would like to take the CA bar. I am a 3L and have taken all CA bar tested subjects except for community property, wills, and trusts. I have 2 questions/concerns:

1) I know that CA bar tests CA specific laws so I am wondering how others from out of state have gone about taking the CA bar/whether it is doable?

2) I am looking to potentially take it in February 2026, but I am not sure if that will leave me enough time to study if I begin in September 2025.

I would appreciate any advice from people who have been in similar situations!

The Score adjustment is unfair for those with 27 correct answers with 0 points and 28 correct answers with 40 additional points

(3) the sorce adjustment for the experimental exam to with additional score in unfair. because this part of the exam is taken on the mbe one and the mbe questions is much more difficult and longer than the experimental exam on November 2024, in May the bar exam siad that the threshold to have sorce adjustment in 28 out of 49, I have gotten with 27 corrects answer, but I have no score adjustment at all, and I think the additional 40 points additional score is too much and disproportionate, since you have to answers more than like 5 questions in the real mbe exam one to get an extras 40 points in the scale score. as an exam candidates with 27 correct one in the experimental exam, there may be a chance that I might perform better in the real mbe sessions, but some one performances worse than me have a higher scale mbe score because of the score adjustment of the experimental exam. In the experimental exam, 27 correct and 28 correct is just 1 question difference, but this 1 questions will have an 40 points difference in the final MBE score, and the difficulty of the MBE questions is more difficult than the experimental one, with an extra 40 points to 28 correct answer and 27 correct answer with 0 points extra in the scale mbe score, the bar exam is unfair and has 2 different reviewing the candidates real ability in mastering the legal rules, because the exam candidates with 27 correcr answer performance in the real MBE one, has to answer like 5 more correct answer( because the scale score of MBE is determined by the NCBE, i have used a scale score MBE to calculated if the person with 27 correct answers want to beat those with 28 correct, meaning to get the more 40 points in the MBE, they have to answer 5 correct ansews , but we should notice that the orriginal is just 1 questions, and because 28 have 40 extra points, and 27 with 0 points, 27 correct answer has to get 5 more correct one in MBE to beat those with 40 points with 28 correct ) https://mberules.com/mbe-scaled-score-calculator/ but if there is no score adjustment at all, or exam candidates with 27 ,26, 25 correct answer get like 30, 25 or other extra points instead of 0 points, the ones with 27 correct answer and 28 correct answers are in the same standard of reviewing their ability in mastering the legal rules, for example 1 questions difference is like 8 score in the scale mbe exam, and this proportion should be maintined, but now, 1 questions different can have 40 score differences.

the threshold and socre adjustment for the 28 correct answers can have 40 extra points and those with 27 correct answers with zero score at all, making people are treated differently in the mbe sessions of the exam. Some exam candidates even did not know about the experimental sessions at all and they think the 40 extra points scorce adjustment is unfair at all.

Foreign attorney from Europe

Hi all! I have a few questions for those of us who are attorneys from abroad.

I personally have the degree that qualifies me to practice law in my home country in Europe (Spain), but I never actually practiced there because I moved here.

I have all my diplomas and documents, including the official certificate that proves I’m allowed to practice law in Spain. Would that count?

Also, in my country, law school is 4 years plus 1.5 years of legal specialization, so about 5.5 years of training in total. Do I have a good chance of being approved?

Thank you so much!

Need guidance on materials for F26

Help! Foreign-trained lawyer retaking for the 3rd time. In the past, I used Adaptibar, Mary Basick and BarMD for PT. I almost passed on my first attempt, and then dwindled on the rest. I must say that I do fairly well on essays but seeing that my MBE is so low, I know I need to review BLL. Thinking of getting Barmax with Adaptibar or Themis with Uworld. Any advice is appreciated.🙏

Taking Attorney Bar Exam - best low cost resources?

I am taking the California bar exam for attorneys in February. I passed the UBE back in 2017 with a score of 310. I used a combination of Barbri, Studicata outlines, and Adaptibar (I think - I can't remember because it was so long ago but some online bank of a ton of multiple choice questions). Since I don't need to take the multiple choice again, I am focusing on resources that will help me prep for the essays and the MPT. I really liked using the Studicata outlines, but I see that they don't have California specific content. And recall that I abandoned the Barbri course mid-way through my studying the first time. Any thoughts? I hear the Mary Basick book is highly recommended. Would this cover the outlines I need to study?

I really want to avoid paying thousands for a prep course, especially since my studying will be focused on the essays and the MPT.

Thank you in advance! Thoughts appreciated!
