Training Shot at 5 and 7 yards, 50 rounds of ammo. Thumb rest makes a huge difference.
galleryLoving my align tactical thumb rest. Aside for managing recoil, it helps me to get back on target easily.

Ask Away. This is a judgement free thread where people should ask any questions relating to self defense or CCW no matter how silly they think it may be.

I recently picked up a 945 Industries bag to carry my RXM in hot weather. Love the bag, the quick pull is crazy fast, and actually nicer than AIWB I think because its all one handed. I did notice that if you dont absolutely rip the cord though, it would catch on my optics. If you do rip it, it was still hitting and scratching the optics up pretty good.
I guess the easy fix would be go by the tired and true K.I.S.S. and ditch the optics, but I'm not gonna do that!
Here is what I came up with, I plan to remake it better but for now this seems to work. There is a Velcro strip on the opening flap, so I made this little flap that covers the optics, keeps the zipper from catching on anything, and folds out of the way when deployed and after many practice draws seems to have no chance of snagging up or preventing the gun from being drawn. It also, being made from lens cloth, doubles as a way to clean the optics, lol.
I feel like this is a great fix but wanted some opinions on if this is smart or not.

I just got back from a botched hiking trip. Lots went wrong but the highlight was that just before midnight a group of coyotes made its way into my campsite, and one of them circle my tent for around 15 minutes. Thank god nothing further than that happened and I was safe, but the consequences could have been much worse.
Even though I didn’t need it, knowing I had my Glock 19 with 31 rounds of HST 147 grain made me feel a whole lot better about the situation as a whole. I truly think I could have dispatched them before they hurt me if the situation went that way. I would have been better off than had I not been carrying anyways.
Just like with defense against people the best case scenario is that I got away without having to fire a single round.

Bill never invites Charlie, but once again- he just shows on up—And he is indeed the second guest because I pushed a little on the gun after the first guest but then reverted back to my correct pressures for the last of the guests. Lame.

I live in the South and have my CCW. I need to visit family in NY state. All the states between me and NY have reciprocity. I don't want to travel without my firearm if I don't have to. Are there any services on the PA/NY border where you can leave your firearm for a few days? I'm not sure what terms to Google. I don't risk it by leaving it locked in my care and hope.
Edit: Thank you every one for the input.

I wanted to post and say that Tenicor holsters is definitely a great company to do business with. I ordered a holster for my firearm and subsequently received the wrong one. I contacted them and immediately they were on the issue and after sending them the requested information a new holster was immediately sent and to top it off they allowed me to keep the wrong holster sent! This was a very noble and business savvy thing to do and I applaud them for their customer service skills. Thank you Tenicor staff!!

I am against adding a red dot or upgraded sights to my shield plus for conceal carry because I want to be minimalistic, for weight and size. I plan on training regularly and I am hoping that the extra training will make up for the lack of upgraded optics.
Or should I just go through the time/trouble/money of adding the dovemount? (9mm, not optics ready).

The most awkward draw of all time.
Cold run, didn’t shoot a single round before this. In front of random people who I didn’t know. Don’t care how many gunfights ya been in, stage fright is a different tingle.
Everyone else ran this jus normal hands at sides, owb or aiwb
I had to spice things up a bit with a fun starting position

Pillowster, Mastermind and whatever aint got shii on the wedge RX. Just get the largest wedge for your holster the smaller one is too small and should be used for mag holders.
Anyone on here get their CSX e series ported or comped? Ik S&W will probably release a ported version a week after I port mine, but just curious to see if anyone has ported theirs and if so what design? (Chunk, traditional ports…)

Does anyone believe that off-body "carry" bags could still work?
Not saying it's impossible to conceal this way, but every time I've seen someone carrying this method it's been so painfully obvious to the point of being open carry with extra steps involved.
If the OD green/ desert gray bag didn't give it away for me, the behavior of the person did; some will choose rather inconspicuous looking bags but then still fail in concealing because they keep both of their hands near or directly on the bag itself 90% of the time they are walking around.
The promotional photographs for these products demonstrate the this type of activity I've seen perfectly
If the bag isn't blatantly obvious then you fumbling with it 24/7 certainly is.

Just looking for an update on where I can submit my RI CCW application as a non-resident. East Greenwich is no longer accepting them, and a friend told me Providence was tough. My application was submitted to the AG but apparently my letter of need wasn't sufficient. They recommended going through a town. I'm willing to drive as I often go that way on business. Any suggestions??

Been shooting a bit more lately, consistently hitting the target at 15 yards at a slow and steady pace now. Trying to speed up my shots while maintaining accuracy. Any tips, drills, feedback would be appreciated.

Relaxed draw. 6A, 7 yards, 1.86. Drove on the last two, regardless if they’re “iN tHe A-zOnE”
the draw from truly hands at sides, wrists over pockets is way too undervalued. Don’t get me wrong, I have my competitive draw as most people do, but the relaxed draw is just… the way man…. ✌️☮️
P.S. I hope the envious ants have something to say again 😉

Second time shooting the FN Reflex and I was zeroing in the red dot. Not too bad at 10-15yds. Snappy lil bugger, but pretty pleased with it.
