Other Equipment 945 CCW Bag Zipper Catching on Optic

I recently picked up a 945 Industries bag to carry my RXM in hot weather. Love the bag, the quick pull is crazy fast, and actually nicer than AIWB I think because its all one handed. I did notice that if you dont absolutely rip the cord though, it would catch on my optics. If you do rip it, it was still hitting and scratching the optics up pretty good.

I guess the easy fix would be go by the tired and true K.I.S.S. and ditch the optics, but I'm not gonna do that!

Here is what I came up with, I plan to remake it better but for now this seems to work. There is a Velcro strip on the opening flap, so I made this little flap that covers the optics, keeps the zipper from catching on anything, and folds out of the way when deployed and after many practice draws seems to have no chance of snagging up or preventing the gun from being drawn. It also, being made from lens cloth, doubles as a way to clean the optics, lol.

I feel like this is a great fix but wanted some opinions on if this is smart or not.

That was happening with my vertx bag, if you can, just cant the gun a little but so the optic isn’t parallel to the zipper

That's what I needed to do with my 10mm XDM-E when paired with an EPS Carry and a TLR-7 HL-X. (QAPL size)

It was still catching, I only leveled it out after making this, with plans to fit a spare magazine under it.

The only option is to move the optic lower so it’ll clear the zipper. Unless you have a comp or g17 slide on your RxM, it looks like that holster is an inch longer than it has to be. You can cut it shorter and put the mag somewhere else. Or pick up a crossbreed Velcro holster for $20

I mean there's zero issue now so ill likely just leave it alone now that I fixed it.

Oh my bad. I thought you were still having the issue

No I was just sharing this as a super easy fix. Scratching aside I think having it to keep the zipper from snagging just helps the reliability of the draw.

Yeah but you also have the potential of grabbing the Velcro thing on your draw which can cause you to drop the gun

You'd have to really try because the outer thing drops down.

I ended up buying the extra-large bag they have to fit my G19x with an aim point.

I crammed mine in slightly lower and the optic clears just fine

Assuming that you have the QAPL, the QAPX will work better.

You need the next size up on the bag, also tilt up the pistol a lil bit.

Haha, Yeah and a lot of the time it does, but options are nice. I dressed for the gun for years and wont do it anymore.
