Feelings of Fullness Help/Suggestions

So I’ve been doing CICO since March and I’m ~20lbs down (188-> 168). However, I think I’m reaching a bit of a mental block that I’d love to suggestions/advice for.

Sometimes, when I reach my calorie goal, even if I have the sensation of feeling very full and not being hungry, I just have this desire to eat that is so difficult to overcome that I end up “overeating”. It hasn’t ever gone as far as far as a “binge” I would say, but it’s usually about 500-700 calories over. I have noticed that this happens more often during my period, but I have days like this 2-3 times a month outside my period. The worst part is that I end up feeling overly full and have a vague stomach ache for the rest of the day.

I’m just worried at this point that it’s just slowing down my progress and/or making it harder for me to be “used” to my goal calories, if that makes sense? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? What helped?

Drink water jn between meals and, since you said it's not binge, just wait before eating more. If you just ate a whole meal, probably you are not hungry you just want (≠ need) more or you are thirsty.

If drink water is not a solution for you, and you really think you need more, try upping the calories by a bit.

Weight loss takes time, you would have to have patience either way. However, it is better lose weight by eating a 300 deficit, at least for a while until you get used to it, than gain everything back because you gave in to your whole package of bread and biscuits one day.

i usually go for a walk when this urge hits me, but you might also consider upping your daily calories a bit. i was having overeating/binging sessions on 1200, but swapped to 1500 w increased daily movement & i'm so much less hungry.

Something that helps me is thinking about how horrible I’ll feel after giving in to my urges. I stop to remind myself that these cravings are temporary and once the fog clears i will gain clarity back & be so proud of myself for staying strong. The more I do this, the weaker those cravings get, and over time it becomes much easier to stick to my plan. You’re not alone in this, it takes practice, but it gets better🙃💪

Hunger always wins. I reached my goal weight and I’m no longer in a deficit. It happens far less now.

Don’t beat yourself up. It happens to everyone that goes into a caloric deficit. Our bodies do NOT want to lose weight.
