How reliable is the 2007 Cadillac STS 3.5L

Looking to purchase my next car after my beater took a crap on me and had my eyes on a well priced ‘07 sts was wondering if it would be reliable for a daily?

I’ve seen posts about timing chain issues and I’m wondering how prevalent that is with regular oil changes, I’m also wondering if there are modifications to be done to make make it less susceptible to such issues. What could be some other major/minor issues I should know of?

Sidenote: it’s between this 07 sts and an 08 ford Taurus 3.5L v6, with the ford being slightly more expensive, both awd

Ok cool. The 07 3.6 is decent, just be sure not to run it low on oil and service the timing chain before like 80k miles. Also you can’t rely on the oil life indicator, and most of em burn a little oil so you gotta top off a quart between 3-5k mile oil changes. Watch that stuff and it just has usual gm problems. They sound cool and make power in a pleasing way, especially in RWD.

Nailed it. I loved mine, but it started burning a lot of oil. Eventually I got rid of it and I regret it. Great car!

Aw man, I’m sorry to hear that. Maybe it’s time to start shopping for an 07 sts-v!!!
