How has GM not fixed the 10-speed?

I genuinely don’t understand how this transmission is so bad? I had the dreaded valve body issue, and instead of waiting on a list 3500 deep, I got a full OEM transmission swap as I am still under warranty.

The new one still occasionally lurches when downshifting, and consistently hunts for gears.

How has GM stayed competitive when their transmissions are just….bad? Even my Ford with the same 10 speed is significantly better.

Almost always problems with the crappy valve body in these 10 speed transmissions.

I proactively performed the Next Gen valve body upgrade in my 2024 GMC Yukon Denali at 8500 miles just because I drive a lot of distance on the highway and did not want to be left hundreds of miles from home on the weekend and have to wait weeks or months for the vehicle to be repaired. I did this upgrade on my own dime in the driveway and could not be happier.

Gone was the 2-3 and 3-4 upshift delay and flairs along with occasional rough lower gear downshifting. The transmission now shifts like it should have from the factory.

Replacement GM valve bodies and transmissions will have the same problems as what you may be driving now. Spend the money and perform the Next Gen valve body upgrade sooner than later, do not wait for problems to show up.
