Jupiter: wedding music

I’m a cellist and will be having a solo cello and piano play the theme from Holst’s Jupiter for when I’m walking down the aisle at my wedding.

I have a cello and a piano at my disposal… what would be a good piece to play for the groom and wedding party to walk out before? I want something a bit calm, but joyful that can transition nicely into Jupiter

Chamber music repertoire for amateur players. Harold Haynes similar for duo

Hi everyone,

I teach chamber music at a music school in Spain (yes, chamber music is part of the curriculum for our pre-college students). I use the fantastic book "Chamber Music Repertoire for Amateur Players" by Harold Haynes to find suitable music for my students. The book not only lists a large portion of the repertoire for string quartet, string quintet, and so on, but it also gives a precise indication of the technical and musical difficulty of each piece and any specific part. It's an invaluable resource for me.

I was wondering if something similar exists for chamber music duets (violin/piano, cello/piano, viola/piano, woodwind instruments/piano). If anyone knows of such a resource, I would be really grateful.

Thanks in advance."

Prinz Heinrich Reuss string sextet, B minor op 17, anyone know it?

I found the parts in a box of inherited music, so will give it a go. It’s odd, I can’t find any recordings and no one I play with has heard of it. Anyone …? Is it good? Why’s it hard to find a recording?

im in high school, and last year my chamber group and the choir group at my school played poor wayfaring stranger arr. john leavitt but i think both groups have more potential since i am in both aswell and personally i am interested in songs like morten lauridsens lux aerterna because of the tempo changes and dynamics, but at all scores i can only find something with a small wind ensemble or no piano so please help give me a suggestion or give me a link for the lux aerterna that is just satb and a chamber orchestra (so like violin, viola, cello, maybe contrabass??) and piano please and thank u!!!

Tablet recommendations for reading sheet music?

Hello! I'm going to a chamber music conference, and I'd like to get a tablet so that I can hopefully sight read chamber music with other players.

The Apple IPad Pro is too pricey for me. From what I've read online, that's the best tablet for reading music? Because of its 13 inch screen? For those of you that use tablets for reading sheet music, do you think a 12.1 inch screen would work? Walmart makes a tablet that has a 12.1 inch screen that is only $217.

Thank you for your advice!

Spohr string quartets 31-36

Spohr's string quartet writing spanned half a century. In the final installment, I discuss quartets 31-36, including two quartets which he completed but withheld from publication. It's often said he had written himself out in his late years, but these quartets take some new directions.
