Job Search Co-op at ExxonMobil USA
Hi all,
I’m a chemical engineering student and applied for the ExxonMobil Summer 2025 internship back in December 2024. I haven’t received any communication yet. Has anyone else heard back or know when they typically respond?
Any advice on follow-up or how to stand out would be greatly appreciated!

summer co-ops have already started. they’re actually midway through. if you haven’t been contacted then you haven’t been selected.

PhD? you were probably seen as overqualified.
i thought the co-op requisitions required applicants to be currently enrolled in a 4 year degree. if so, you do not qualify.

This Co-op was specifically for PhDs as described in their title and description.

A lot of my applications were rejected around 3-5 years after I applied. No response means keep looking.

If you haven't heard anything, you weren't selected. Generally, majority of internships for the summer are filled in Oct/November

The job was posted in December of 2024.

Right. Thats why i said generally. Your chances in December of getting anything is going to be much lower. They may even have opened it for a known candidate they were going to fill the position for.

No, I never heard anything back. It was my first experience to apply for Co-op and I was expecting that they would contact in any case (acceptance or rejection) but yeah seems to be a rejection now.

You will typically not even receive automatic rejections when applying for things, keep this in mind. Coops, internships, jobs, you will be ghosted 95% of the time
